let's be clear again because you may have not remembered the timeline.
martz had the utmost faith in kurt. maybe too much since he played him with a broken throwing hand.
then brenda blabbed and told the world martz was a liar.
then martz turned on kurt. in the worst possible way.
she was the catalyst that unleashed martz's wrath on poor kurt.
nothing you can say about martz being a piece of shit is gonna change that fact.
.
Nope. That's not true.
Martz wanted to start Bulger, but couldn't justify benching Warner.
Martz put Warner out there with a messed up hand BECAUSE he was trying to justify starting
Bulger.
This is uncontested: Martz LIED about Warner getting an X-Ray on his hand. When Brenda heard the press conference, she want on a sports radio program and told the truth... it wasn't true. And Martz was subsequently CAUGHT in that lie and was super mad at Brenda.
However, NONE of that justifies leaving a concussed Warner in the game against the Giants in the first game of 2003. NONE of that justifies calling a nearly all pass 2nd half against at that time one of the best pass rushes in the NFL.
And we know that Martz had it in for Warner because AS I CALLED IT THEN, the moment Warner was diagnosed with a concussion, he would never play another meaningful snap for the Rams again.
Worse, other HCs have come forward, especially Mike Shanahan who watched every throw of Warner's career and wanted him to start for Denver. Martz specifically REFUSED to trade Warner for any price (not that a mega deal was ever in the offering, but he'd made it clear Warner wasn't gonna be traded so teams stopped asking) and it was only after every starting job was well taken and well after the draft that Warner was released.
Several HCs went on record, iirc, as saying that Martz told them that Warner's hand was so bad that he couldn't even grip a football.
Coaching is a small fraternity and when it comes to personnel, it's a cardinal sin to LIE about a player and Martz did. Think about how many coaches and FOs were PISSED (especially Denver's) when they saw Warner taking the freaking CARDINALS to the Super Bowl.
If Martz wasn't guilty of such gross infractions, how is he not even a consultant for a team? Dude architected one of the greatest offenses of all time and within a few years after his Rams stint and following his crap time in Detroit... he was 100% out of the NFL. He's not even on some piddling podcast. NOTHING. (I mean, he wasn't done bashing Warner in Detroit where he said that... not kidding... that Jon Kitna was the most talented QB he'd ever coached... Jon Kitna??? WTF??? That doesn't even cover the disrespect to Marc Bulger, ffs)
The NFL never throws anything away if they can gain even the slightest advantage. We complain about recycling HCs, but even if Detroit didn't work out, the idea that NO ONE wanted him for an OC?
Sorry that you have an issue with Brenda, but your recollection is flawed and the relationship going south is 1000% on Martz.
