So just imagine when players didn't wear gloves, no massive sideline heaters, no under field heater systems and under-scienced football gear.
Listening to Brady on Cowherd today, he says the advantage goes to the Bears. It's supposed to feel like minus 9 degrees and he says, "Chicago has been playing in that the last few weeks". Not exactly. On December 14th they played Cleveland in 8 degree weather, minus 2 wind chill but the next 3 home games were 37 degrees/ 32 real feel (vs GBay), 33/29 Detroit and 32/26 in the Wild Card game. That IS NOT minus 9 and it's been a month since they played in a game that cold. Personally, I love seeing the players exhales throughout the game. You can tell when a defense is gassed!!
When a player is resting their hands on their thigh pads and it take's them longer to get back to the huddle and or lined up.... That's when you know a player is gassed.

Honestly the players will be the warmest ones in the stadium. They’ve got heated benches, scuba suits, gloves, tights, multiple layers of socks, hand warmers with the heat pouches in them, chicken broth, hot chocolate, thermal underwear, etc.
And I promise if we jump out to a 21-0 lead no one on our sideline is going to be thinking about the cold. Just gotta take care of business.
I hope none of our players go out shirtless for pregame because every time I’ve seen a team do that they end up getting their ass kicked
They won’t. Jared Verse said he did it for the Jets game last year and he’ll never do it again because he was too cold.
There was a big article on ESPN.com today about how NFL players prepare for extreme cold. And multiple players in the article said they felt like they had a mental edge over their opponent after the opponent came out for warmups with no sleeves, no nothing….only to come out for kickoff with the long sleeves and gloves. Which is exactly what McVay should tell the team. If you want to take layers off during the game because you are too hot, fine. But if you have to add layers because you are too cold, it’s going to give the opponent a mental edge.
Nope. Michael Hoecht went shirtless prior to the frigid Jets game in 2024, and we stomped them.
Having said that, I doubt the Rams are gonna do that again. Jared Verse went shirtless too and said he wouldn't do it again. Better to be smart about it rather than take your shirt off just for show.
