Interesting thought… If the play that resulted in the “tuck rule” goes the Raiders’ way, does it change Rams history?

No doubt, the rams had a hard time with Belichek’s defenses. I don’t think the Raiders could hang with that offense.

Rams related. My one play that would have altered the Rams fortunes. The Raiders getting totally ripped off by the "Tuck Rule" as that was clearly a fumble by Brady and it's the Rams and Raiders in the SB and not the Patriots. Who knows how that would have gone, but, my money would have been on the Rams. The Raiders didn't have to cheat and were not filming the opponents practices and game day preparations.
Shout out to Avenger Ram for thinking of it first!

Also, think about the jersey sales implications of that situation. All the bandwagon fans that only wear the flavor of the month teams jerseys would have been buying all the Rams gear instead of #12 Pats jerseys.

It’s funny how the memory works. When I started making my list, I was thinking Smith’s TD happened on the first drive in OT. Only after looking up the play-by-play did I recall that both teams had a failed FG attempt in OT.

Oh I never forgot that. I VIVIDLY remember starting to celebrate because Wilkin's FG was right down the middle and just somehow....short.

In a way that makes zero sense to me, and after having years to digest it all....that playoff loss to the Panthers is the single most devastating Rams loss to me. Worse than both Super Bowls for some reason. I think even the Hakim muff was worse.

I think it's because I was CERTAIN the Rams were about to win both those games....the Wilkins miss and the Hakim fumble. In both Super Bowls I had a nagging feeling for the games at half.

- The Rams aren't assessed a phantom holding call on Gurley's one good run in SB LIII against the Pats

Yeah. Was Zampese the OC at that point or was that in the late 80s? In either case, the playcaller outsmarted everybody in the stadium with the Crutchfield run.

I was at that game in 1984. Blacked out locally, so my Dad got us tickets in Anaheim. I was 14.

When it was called and after the replay was put up on the screens in Atlanta... I was fucking talking about the robbery at the top of my lungs. It was complete and total bullshit at the highest level. Every person in my section and 3 to 4 sections on either side of me got a clear explanation from me live and in living color.

2000 - Kurt Warner doesn't break his finger on a center snap from Steve Everett in KC. Rams were 6-0, Warner was on pace for a 6400 yrd season because the Ram D was so bad he was forced to throw it all 4 quarters.

Not that they would have won it all that yr with that D, but they would have broken just about every offensive record in the books, with 38-35 type games every week.

2) Dieter Brock completes throw to Ron Brown on a slant against Chicago Bears(1985 playoff game)
3) Everett doesn't underthrow bomb that gets knocked away at last second against 49ers by Ronnie Lott (1989 playoff game)
4) Tom Mack is not called for Illegal Procedure in 1976 playoff game against Vikings (i think it was that year)
5) Dickerson gets ball instead of other running back in 1984 playoff game

Your #4 was the first thing that popped into my mind. We had all the momentum and I feel certain to score a touchdown, but instead have to settle for a field goal try. It’s blocked and run back for a Viking touchdown. Ugh! The game was effectively over at that point.

In the 1976 playoff game against the Vikings we elected to kick a field goal at about the 2 yard line. It was blocked and returned for a touchdown. Not sure if it would have changed the eventual outcome but it was crushing at the time. Always losing to the Vikings in the playoffs, they were our Kryptonite until the 1999/2000 season.
