Depends on who you ask. I don't judge on championships alone. Elway was just unbelievable and even if he had never won it all I'd look at him similarly to how I look at Marino both being no doubter HoF guys. Eli is just a guy throwing the ball. Elway was like Allen but more accurate and with less size.

I don't know that Eli is some shoe-in for the HoF either btw. The guy had some well timed hot streaks but he's not someone I think about as a dominant QB.

Eli is the anti-Matt Ryan

Eli would have totally pedestrian regular seasons and then just go off in the post-season.

Matty Ice, the exact opposite.

If Eli gets in, he'd be the least spectacular QB to do it... I think... and without two INSANE catches, they maybe don't win those Super Bowls and then there's no chance.

Elway and Marino are 2 different animal IMO. Marino is the best passer I've ever seen. Cant imagine what he'd do with the rules of today. He obliterated the single season TD pass & yardage records when he burst on the scene. Elway was exciting but in his earlier days he wasnt an accurate passer, had no touch on the ball and turned the ball over a lot. Though his Denver teams seemingly ran in to NFC buzzsaws, Elway was awful in the SB's.
Now, dont misunderstand, I thought Elway was great. No doubt. But not a "best ever"

That was my point, Eli is not looked at as a shoe in, although with 2 SB MVP he will get in. Point was that his last couple seasons were so bad, really leaves his career in a bad light.

It would SUCK having to listen and read the media slurping tommy for two weeks leading up to the game.
No doubt, and on top of his SB appearance record, we'd then have to hear about how he led his team to be the 1st to play in a SB in the home stadium.
