Looks like the Rams brought back Kolone from last year. Lots of competition.

That actually works really well.Groy's name comes up to calm the nerves.
All, but Brockers. I love the guy, but he’s not going to get another contract here. Pretty sure he’ll be a FA signing somewhere and we’ll get a 4th for him in 2021.
Noteboom and Allen both got time in at practices last year, and Noteboom acquitted himself quite well during the Niners game at left tackle. I understand that he's starting at left guard where Saffold dominated, but I think that he's going to do a fine job. Allen probably spent a lot of time in the weight room and learned a ton from Sullivan. He didn't beat Sully out because he was a rookie behind a battle-tested vet.
As for the question of having rookies as backups, we did that last year with Noteboom and Allen, so I believe that Evans and Edwards should learn a lot. And we still have Demby, who studied last year.
I'm not concerned about Blythe. He did a fantastic job in the regular season and postseason up to the Super Bowl, where the entire offense struggled.
And if there's one thing I've learned from watching sports, it's that there's always pleasant surprises. My belief is that we'll be pleasantly surprised by our offensive line.
I love that we're going with a youth movement on the OL. That said I am a little concerned with the depth. But if things work out (i.e. we see a continued blessing of health with the unit), this is going to pay off down the road.
Evans and Edwards best fast track their development. One injury early, and the Rams offense will struggle, unless those two progress by leaps and bounds.
That’s why I preferred a plug and play type. If he wins a starting spot then Allen or Blythe make good backups. If the draftee doesn’t start but is capable then they are quality insurance in case of an injury. I liken it to when Brockers was injured in the playoffs against Atlanta. It drastically changed the success of the Rams defense, or when Blythe and Sullivan were abused by the Patriots DLine.
I'm thinking Fowler and/or Peters may very well be on that CAP casualty list along with Brockers, really depends on what kind of year they have in 2019, they could just price themselves out of a new contract with the Rams. We have all of our draft choices for 2020 other than the 5'th, and will have plenty of free agent options available for McSnead to explore once again. The Rams began their prep work with this draft by bringing in multiple DB's & OL, I suspect Long will move into a starting position along with Rapp in 2020, and the competition between Demby, Evans & Edwards should be fierce along the OL. If Obo comes out of the gate strong, our Edge options will certainly rise, and the same goes for Franklin & Gaines on the DL. The future looks bright imo.
Rams 16 signed OL'ers thus far
LT- Andrew Whitworth/ Joe Noteboom/ Bobby Evans/ Matt Kaskey
LG- Jamil Demby/ Jeremiah Kolone/ Brandon Hitner
OC- Brian Allen/ Aaron Neary/ Vitas Hrynkiewicz
RG- Austin Blythe/ Chandler Brewer/ Justice Powers
RT- Rob Havenstein/ David Edwards/ Darrell Williams
I think Groy is just an example of a solid vet that could be added as competition to make the 53 man roster. It wouldn't hurt to bring a vet in to compete with all of the rookies for OC/OG depth. I also believe Kromer is helping to identify OL that are flexible. Evans and Edwards able to play any of the non-center OL positions? Perhaps Noteboom sticks as LG in 2020 and Evans/Edwards is able to pick up LT?
There were a couple indicators of how much they wanted to keep Demby.
The Rams tried to stash him on the practice squad but Detroit nabbed him for theirs.
But the first injury we had that opened up a spot on our 53 we grabbed him for our 53.
That indicates to me that they did not want to lose him and his potential with development.
Or he could pull off a Suh move where he does not sign till very late in the offseason thus the Rams get zero credit for Compensation Selections. Suh did us no favors here.

Camp & preseason sched this year is going to be a lot of fun for watching the pieces come into focus on the OL. I would love to see Demby make a move, but there's going to be a lot of competition and youth along with probably open season for the depth spots. Really looking forward to camp this year, just hope I can fit it in my schedule.
Jamil Demby was a very raw talent from a smaller school last year. PLayed LT not much else. Kromer tired to work JD in four posts in TC. In preseason we saw JD line up & play in 3 posts. His best gameplay came @ LT IMO. JD's RT work was not good nor was his RG snaps. HIs best post in the NFL should be @ Left OG where Saffold played. It will be exciting for me to view his progression from last season to now.“Hope you can fit it into your schedule”, Merlin? HOPE?
“Hope” is not a strategy! You need to readjust your damned schedule, man!
Camp reports are Job One in the summer and all else must take a back seat. Your board needs you out there.
Family, job, etc, simply must take a back seat until the Rams break camp. It’s only a few weeks, dammit. They’ll understand. Lol.
Dang, that's out of left field!Looks like the Rams brought back Kolone from last year.
Noteboom is going to have a serious learning curb ?? He & Demby had a little trouble last year as rookies getting everything together!!
Kromer is throwing the book at him though.
Will see how that goes.
—Allen from just all the info I’ve gathered shows he is ready to take over at Center.
Behind the Grid this 2nd series of this 2nd year is pretty good. Allen just seems like he is a perfect fit. His brother is already improving as a pro as well. The way Allen has his
Mind set is awesome.
Allen's mindset is why he'll succeed at center. He still has the background of a former wrestler, so once he learns technique from Kromer, he'll be good to go.
Noteboom is the guy I'm excited about. He did extremely well in what was basically a spot start at left tackle when Whitworth went down against the Whiners in the last game. He didn't make any mistakes in that game, and I watched every snap. Underrated power, unbelievable movement. Just looked like the left tackle of the future. I have no doubt that he'll excel wherever he is - tackle or guard.
Demby is the wildcard. He's more ahead of the curve than Evans and Edwards, which means if someone falters or gets injured, he'll be the first man up. I know that he's a sixth round pick, but the guy was a beast in college, and if he's gotten good weight on him, he'll be fantastic.
Agree. - with Allen he references the knowledge he got playing behind Sullivan.
He says the experience is priceless & he wants to be great. —I’ll take a solid center for the next 5 years.
Noteboom got in against Da Bears last year as well as Allen. Both were equal as they never stood out either way.My concern is The Rams depth now .
I’m not a fan of Austin Blythe as a starting RG.
He did a nice job last season though in place of Jamon Brown who got released for Demby being a better option on salary cap.
