Mahomes and the Chiefs went back to back, I could easily argue that Mahomes and the Chiefs have a better roster and better depth.

I'll add that the "best" roster and possibly #1 defense gave up nearly 30 points per game in the playoffs and the super bowl.

The Chiefs could have easily missed the playoffs. For a time they looked like just another SB winner that did not make the show the next year.

It might have been the other way around. The 9ers ran the ball on a tired looking chief defense, but…couldn’t finish.

I play mahomes, I want the ball first and hope to score a TD without ever letting him on the field. Giving him the ball first would be the wrong call, IMO.

Oops. Just saw the rule had changed for the playoffs.
I still want the ball first. Go down and score. That forces the opposition to take a little bit more of a risk on tight throws.

The thinking from Dan Orlovsky is that you never give a hot Mahomes 4 downs with which to work. If the Niners kick off to the Chiefs, they probably play more conservatively (Chiefs), settling for a FG and trusting their defense to make a stop. The Niners had the advantage in this case as to knowing how much they need to win. As it was, being down 3 points, the Chiefs were in the driver's seat. Patrick Mahomes was not going to be stopped by 4th down situations until they at least tied it, but then Reid/Mahomes would be going for the kill, unlike Shanny.

So what. There is a difference between "complimentary" and simple facts.
If you put the roster of the Rams and Niners together and let Bill B coach the team, defense, ALL of their DBs would start, ALL of their LBs would start and most of the D line. We might get AD.
They have 1st round pick freaks of nature coming off the bench.
I do not have to like it. But I have eyes to see.
The Rams might be set up better for the future, looks bright.
But that is one of the best rosters I have ever seen.
Certainly in the modern free agent era.
Now, my Ram fandom.
I came off the couch screaming with delight when L. Marshal, J Burt and A Williams did what they did.
Montana and Young go limp......silence. When they move, I know they are not dead and scream like a giddy schoolgirl. They might be maimed, vegetables but they were still breathing so I can laugh all I want.

I'll note I have never said the whiners have a shitty roster. But in my opinion, they have weaknesses. Kicking is one. The secondary can be had, and I don't consider Purdy to be an elite QB.

Being that the QB handles the ball on nearly every single, not having a top tier QB makes their roster less than perfect, in my opinion.

I know Purdy had good stats but again, in my opinion, he's a younger Jimmy Garapollo who maybe can run a little better. That's not to say the whiners can't win with him because they obviously came very close to owning the hardware this season.

I guess in a nutshell, what I'm getting at is if the whiners had Mahomes and the Chiefs had Purdy, the whiners win that super bowl easily.
