I'm surprised he didn't choose 5. It is available. I'm curious as to why he chose to wear 39? Odd # to just pull out of a hat, especially for a DB. Small fast guys have traditionally adorned single digit or teen #s. I'd venture to say Greg will tell us it's all about a "new" beginning and out of respect for SJ.

On the subject of numbers was there any reason Bradford changed when he was drafted?
Where did you look that up?I just looked it up. Defensive backs are required to wear the same numbers as running backs. They have to choose from the same set of numbers in other words.
Not sure when that rule went into effect.

Gilyard wore 81 and talked about how everyone was walking around wearing his number when he first got drafted, so at least it's not that bad.
