Where though? Chicago, with Fields and the #1 pick? New England needs a QB....will probably draft one of the top 3 with the #3 pick. Atlanta needs a QB.....depends on who gets the HC gig but they have the #8 pick. Minnesota if Cousins exits. #11 pick. Denver if Russell is gone? #12 pick. Las Vegas? #13 pick. Pittsburgh? Just the #23 pick. But where will Cousins and Russell end up? I could see Cousins resigning with the Vikings and Wilson in Las Vegas. I don't see Tomlin signing Wentz though. I could see Las Vegas signing him unless they get Wilson or Cousins. Or Payton in Denver. Seemingly a lot of possible destinations but 4 or 5 QBs in the draft, a free agent and a guy on the trade block. There were a lot of teams in need of a QB during the year this year and Wentz was still on the couch until the Rams got him. Too far off anyway.Wentz will most likely get a starting gig somewhere. That's why he signed with the Rams. He saw what McVay did for Mayfield. Could even see him signing with the Seahawks depending who they bring in.
He threw for 163 yards and only faced starters part of the game. I don’t think his performance was that impressive. But, I’m happy to have him as a backup.Wentz will most likely get a starting gig somewhere. That's why he signed with the Rams. He saw what McVay did for Mayfield. Could even see him signing with the Seahawks depending who they bring in.
Baker looked better than Wentz in his short Rams stintSadly we're looking at Baker 2. McVay not only builds up future coaches but resurrects QBs too. Part of the legacy of the best HC in the league.
The Jets didn’t even want him. Every team has scouts every player. McVay went with Rypien over Wentz.I love how some think no one wanted him, like you actually know something about NFL circles. Wentz is accomplished and super rich. He was likely waiting for an opportunity that was actually worth taking, rather than risk injury at this point in his career, for what?
If I'm Wentz, I'm taking backup money here in LA and trying to get a shot as a starting QB after Stafford retires either 2025/2026. This is one of the most QB friendly jobs in the league and he knows it. He'll still be 33/34 years old at that point, plenty of time for one more stage of his career and the chance to go out on top. It's not solely the Ram's decision to make in terms of Wentz returning. Ultimately Carson decides to make in the same way it was Baker's.
I think it's probably 50/50 if Carson gets offers. If he's a starter it will be as a 1-2 year bridge because with this deep QB draft most needy teams will draft a QB. IMO Wentz is looking for one more big starting contract. I don't think he will get that so it depends upon whether he wants to sit as a backup for one more year. One way to look at it is that it's better than unemployment. His market IMO hasn't changed since he signed. His value right now is as a quality backup and that is his reality.
If the Rams draft their next #1QB this year they won't need a backup.
You just lost all credibility by making this statement.McVay went with Rypien over Wentz.
yeah but Mayfield played in 5 games against starters - not 1 game semi preseason game against 2nd stringers.I can see him going to a team to be a place holder for one of the rookies.
I don’t think a starting gig is out of the question.
Mayfield wasn’t wanted last year either.
Flacco is another example of a QB nobody wanted.
Minshew kept the colts competitive this season for the most part. Even though he started as a back up.
Yeah I agree with this. He is rebuilding his brand with NFL teams so he should be careful to not immediately price himself into a situation where they elect to cut his ass. Teams willing to throw extra cash at him for a bridge role in FA can quickly change as they ask themselves "if we're gonna lose why not start the rook" and once you get there it can become "why not just cut this vet and save a little cap space."If I'm Wentz, I'm taking backup money here in LA and trying to get a shot as a starting QB after Stafford retires either 2025/2026. This is one of the most QB friendly jobs in the league and he knows it. He'll still be 33/34 years old at that point, plenty of time for one more stage of his career and the chance to go out on top.
The alternative is a shot as a bridge QB with a shit team, risking further injury, and going out on a low note.
Very true.yeah but Mayfield played in 5 games against starters - not 1 game semi preseason game against 2nd stringers.
I lost credibility for stating a fact? You just lost all credibility by making this statement.
You know that for sure?I lost credibility for stating a fact?
The Rams could have had Wentz earlier this year They signed Rypien instead.
