Oh and last point on Wolford’s interception. It was a shit read, no doubt about it. But I’ll never understand why McVay thought it was a great idea to call an empty set on the second play of the game when you were in pretty bad field position with a new QB. Yeah, I think we can all admit that Goff has disappointed of late and Wolford deserves mad props for helping the team win a pivotal game. But it was also easy to see today that Goff is the best QB we have. I hope he's good to go against Seattle.

I hope McVay does see that it might make sense to bring Wolford in a play or two from time to time to give us a little different element, especially, like already said, when Goff gets off kilter a bit.

Ultimately it is what it is right? Better to have had the interception happen at that point in the game, out of the way, and let the kid settle down after it. He responded and settled in well.

But I still didn’t like the call. Lol

Still, this was a quality win with Wolford as the catalyst.

They rallied around him like a team with character. Something that seemed missing against the Jets, where they didn’t show up as a team.
They knew he needed a big lift from his teammates and they gave it.

The exciting thing was to see how the team stepped up. Leaders stepped up today.

Agree, and he did his job as a back up, just saying those anointing him the starter and an improvement icer Goff, are insane. He has a long way to go and not sure he has thr tools needed. Looks like a more athletic Keenum. Arm is average and accuracy was as well.

Cannot overstate how important winning that playoff spot was. I have the feeling not getting in would have created fatal tensions between our offense and defense and we would have lost key players. I think if Jared is playing, we win the game by 2 or 3 TDs. Jared can't run like Wolford, but he sees the field better, is more accurate, and has better arm strength. I also disagree that Wolford makes better decisions and has better pocket awareness. We scored 31 offensive points against Arizona just a few weeks ago. Goff shredded their pass defense. Look at Wolford's passing stats. If Goff had put up numbers like that and only led the offense to 9 points, people would be criticizing him. Now, to be fair to Wolford, these were his first NFL snaps and he did do enough to lead us to victory. He deserves props for that. But let's stop selling Jared short.

I'm not going to criticize Wolford, but if Goff threw some of the balls he did the criticism would come raining down from all sides. If he was quarterbacking a game where offense scored 9 points this site would probably crash from all the flames.

Food for thought...

Very easy to get a couple of those passes in when the defense doesn't respect the passing game and sells out to stop the run. Just food for thought.

Some of you are just funny, yes Wolford played well and made some great 1st downs that helped us but he didn't make any TDs, if not for the D and their safety and pick 6 we lose this one. If Wolford had made some touchdown passes I might be nervous for Goff but nope LOL....

That's funny because I was thinking all you folks who blame him for not throwing TDs or only generating a few points offensively completely forget he threw a PERFECT TD pass to Everett (who dropped it), and would have generated points (TDs) if Akers doesn't fumble on the goal line, and the OL doesn't get called for back to back false starts from the goal line.

Not sure what you wanted to see from the guy, but you are definitely not giving him enough credit.

All that said, Goff has earned the right to be the guy next week (if he is healed up enough), and we now know we can add a different dimension to the offense and not skip a beat if he goes down from now on.

That's a good thing...
