He's just another RB pretending to be a QB. His high TD to INT ratio is only because he will tuck and run instead of throwing if the guy isn't clearly open.

That's a good thing though. You'd rather have him run for a first down than throw an INT.

I think he's mega talented. His issue for me is that he doesn't seem to be a good natural leader or locker room guy, and the injury concerns. If he can't run he becomes just an average/below average pocket guy. The fact he's a legitimate dual threat makes him interesting as a QB.

I'd pay the man if I was them, but teams have got to be working on team-friendly deals that reduce their cap outlay and give them the option to move on.

Not overrated by any stretch of the imagination. Made that team a contender last year with pretty terrible weapons.

I don't think there is much reason to believe that's true.

If there is a legit problem with Cam it has to do with mechanics.

Cam deserves this money and that's my two cents. If other guys are going to get paid similar contracts, then he is deserving. He makes that team a playoff team and you can't afford to let a QB that can get you into that position go. Even QBs like Cutler and Andy Dalton get big contracts despite being sub-par because they were able to be decent enough to get a team in the playoffs. Hard to let playoff QB's go when so few are capable of taking a team to that point, let alone a superbowl.

Then went 5-8-1 last year.

Cam is possibly the least likable player on the planet, but they have to pay him at this point. He is better than average and gives them a chance to win every week. He is still young and will only get better as long as he keeps his ego in check....which has always been his problem.

He's not worth that kind of money but what are the Panthers supposed to do? He is benefiting greatly from the lack of any viable alternatives at the position.

This is the number one argument against league expansion in my view and its only going to get worse because, as others have said, the college game isn't producing many NFL style QBs anymore.

I may be in the minority but I like Cam Newton. I give Cam the benefit of a doubt because his father is Cecil Newton. Cecil was trying and may have exploited Cam's talents to receive money. I don't have a very high opinion of Cecil and hope that Cam is not influenced by Cecil. I would be cautious in paying Cam because Cecil likely believes that's his earnings some how.

I have zero respect for Cam Newton. How do you accept a scholarship to play for a school and then break into one of the classrooms and steal their computers? He is shit in my mind.

The Only reason they made the play-offs is their entire division SUCKED!

This sounds about right. I mean shit, Auburn paid him... errrr I mean paid his dad... about this same amount to get him.

This guy sure has come a long way from stealing laptop computers at the University of Florida.

Hopefully his contract allows Wilson (the Oompa Loompa in Seadderall) to get even more $...

Baaaaaaahahahahahahahaa

It's funny, I actually like Cam...but to say the college game isn't producing NFL QB's is a joke...At least 4-5 will be in the draft in 2016 easy...2020 will be 5-6 more....

I like Cam too. I think the dude has grown up a lot since that Auburn fiasco. Which was stupid to begin with, and besides the laptop thing (dumb mistake) he hasn't done anything wrong.

As a pure passer he has a very good arm but he does not have elite accuracy and recognition skills. His size and athleticism are above average but how much longer can he survive the NFL with his style of play. As he ages his style of play will become more of a liability so giving him a contract with a lot of guaranteed money is a risky long term proposition. Without him though the Panthers would not be near as competitive, so their options are extremely limited.

I am a lifelong NC resident and I have never been a big fan of him or the Panthers but I could easily imagine him being very effective for our the Rams in their power run scheme with Gurley and Mason in the backfield (will never happen though).

Shit tone of coin right there for a guy that gets beat up.

That said, QBs have all the leverage these days.

To put it simply though, I'd love him for the Rams. His game in a run 1st O with a Todd Gurley could be lethal and break the spirit of the opposing D.

Cam isn't the same kid you all are bashing. He's grown up a lot in the past few years.

I'd much rather have a good PA QB in this offense over Cam. But these guys are all paid more than him anyway. So it's a trade off.

I don't like him for $20.6MM a year
