Yeah that's the one I was referring to when I said it was a benching offense. Fucking horseshit by Akers. He watched that dude all the way in and bailed out.

I am done with these RBs dude. No more hoping for anything good from any of them. Les needs to add the right type to this room again. And then maybe he and Sean need to analyze why they didn't see this coming.

Yeah but what type of block was that from Edwards. Just horrible.

Edwards guy was beating him all night

I think Allen should have helped Edwards out on that play and not Shelton although Shelton's dude was beating him as well.

However, it did look like a planned pass off to Allen and Shelton would help Havenstein.

Akers wanted no part of that DT. Stafford gets the throw off but is blasted by that big guy. If we don't have a running back willing to take those guys on Stafford is a sitting duck. A weak line and running backs not willing to block. That is a recipe for some bad stuff. And Michel was available not too long ago. Now he's with the Chargers.

Yeah it was shit. OL is weird too and we don't know the protection call but one weak spot can cause the others to screw up their assignments. If Allen had Corbs next to him for example he may have seen Edwards needs help.

I'm guessing both Allen and Hav were maybe too focused on the new guy. But when you get beat across a line like that it's a wrap.

Bring back Malcom Brown. He's available and very physical.
Honestly, after that I would be okay with cutting Akers and signing Brown. Dude can pass protect and grind out yards. He still has at least passing familiarity with it offense.

He must have been dogging it a bit in practice and prep in the week leading up to the opener. I’d be willing to bet he was set to start that game.

Would not surprise me. Hope he takes out his frustrations on Atlanta's defense too.

while at that point he probably shoulda just helped out the LG that got beat badly, technically his job wasnt to help there. He shoulda looked for a blitzer and once saw none, leaked out. Seemed slow/late to do that but he really shouldnt have even been there to help out the OL getting beat by a 4 man rush anyway. cant say hes truly the one to blame there

We don't know the protection calls but he saw the dude all the way in and bailed on his QB. Not interested in arguing semantics on that. There was one thing to do there and he didn't do it.

I think Hendo gets the start.
And I think Cam needs to be more involved again to get rolling.

He missed almost all of last season, Staffords first, and when he came back, in the midst of a championship playoffs whirlind, practically a rookie still in terms of NFL games played. The offense was different, the way the team used him was different and his body was different.

Then, this offseason and preseason, he has something hold him out during the majority of the all important team reps for this seasons install period.

It's very possible he's playing tentatively and without cohesion with the guys around him - just like everyone not named Cooper Kupp.

Cam might be in McVays doghouse and it might be practice or performance based - but I'm willing to bet Akers just needs the reps to get his head screwed on and his feet under him.
If the Oline could move someone out of his way a couple of times, that would probably help.

i seen on Colin interviewing Sanchez today ( Sanchez is the color comment or for our game) that he thinks Cam was in the doghouse for whiffing on a block in the first part of the Buffalo game. I didn’t see it, I missed the fist and half of the second offensive series.

Like I’ve been saying Cam Akers is not a good(willing) blocker. HENDO does everything alright. He just isn’t a every down back. He will make plays & not hurt you.
—Cam Akers will get his chances He has to stay hungry.

I’m in the minority, here, I know, but I have never been impressed by Akers. In 2020, I chose not to watch any regular season games for my own reasons, so I missed the couple of magical games that he had that impressed you all so much. Last year, McVay hyped him up for the season, but then he was injured in preseason and came back for the playoffs in a diminished form.

Jourdan Rodrigue reported how ready Cam was for this season and was chomping at the bit like a race horse in the derby. But then McVay doesn’t start him because of how he practiced? When he gets in for the couple times that he did vs Buffalo, he was easily taken down, and then the No block where Stafford got creamed, made me want to cut him loose right there.

I know Malcom Brown is a more North and South runner, but he is also a good and willing blocker, and so I’d be willing to trade the two, if it was up to me. I could be wrong and maybe Cam is going to be an impressive RB vs Atlanta, but right now he has to prove it to me for me to believe in him.

Well the thing with Cam is he's been the only real option we can put our hopes in. We can't do that with Hendy or Funk. Haven't been able to do it with others like Brown and the low end talents who they have gone through as they hope to find a diamond. It's basically been hoping Cam can stay healthy.

And here we are in another year doing the same thing. It's kind of comical actually, because we won the Super Bowl with no run game. So to even discuss it I feel like a dickhead, but man it would be easier on this offense if they could run the ball.

Holy guacamole, Batman!

That's like saying, "My wife asks to give me a blowjob every night, but I decline for my own reasons"

A man can have his reasons, but his buddies can sure wonder what the heck they are! :laugh1:

No pressure to explain, just find it hard to imagine how a hardcore fan could be capable of voluntarily choosing ti not watch games

Cheers
