While waiting for the Rams to figure out their plan at C, check out the video of this guy. Yes, he's at Div 3 UW Whitewater, but the extent to which he dominates is almost laughable. Sounds like he was great at the Senior Bowl, too. Rams have shown interest in him... interviewed him twice already.

Haven't seen this many 'pancakes' since Orlando Pace! I for one would love it if he was the pick at 57.

My opinion of Meinerz, after watching his 1-on-1 reps at the Senior Bowl, is that he is very strong. He dominates guys when he gets his hands on them. However, if he doesn't win with initial strength, and a defender defeats his initial punch, he doesn't show any technique for recovering. Sometimes he opens his hips and turns 90 degrees instead of staying square and sometimes as a defender tries to get by him, he reaches and gets his arm entangled with the defender. It's not pretty. With that said, I wonder how much coaching is he going to need to develop some sound fundamental technique to deal NFL veteran D-lineman? If they draft him, it would be interesting to see whether he practices with the first unit.

I read somewhere that the only time he’s played center was at the Senior Bowl, but he was very impressive, especially when considering he was going against division 1 players, who he more than held his own against.

If we can draft that guy, it would be a need pick and a value pick.

Sure those college Dlinemen are like small NFL linebackers, but he tosses them like rag dolls!

We usually do this stuff on the draft/NCAA football forum. Meinerz has been talked about a lot over there.

Two zoom meetings with Carberry could mean the Rams were trying to pick his brain and challenge him to see if the think he will pick up football at a higher level.

It could also be smoke. Maybe they like some other centers but they are throwing other teams off.

Snead talked about not showing his cards. With the Rams drafting success since McVay is here I’d bet there are some GMs curious to know who they like. And, other GMs looking at the same players and needing to move ahead of the Rams to pick them.

There are a lot of good centers in this draft. I think some move to guard. Like Myers is 6’ 5”. That’s tall for a center.

Meinerz will be gone at 57 unfortunately. A number of teams have him as the #1 center on their board. But there should be a few other options there. Dickerson, Humphrey, Myers. Heading into the draft with a glaring hole isn't smart because every team around us will know what we're doing and will maneuver accordingly.

I have a feeling we try to trade up with our 2 and late 3 if need be depending on who's falling...

I got excited about this guy, until I just watched this video.... hard pass.
No technique. Always leaving his feet, looks top-heavy, like a well-landed punch would put him on his butt. Blocks awkwardly, depends on throwing defensive players, which will just get someone (likely a Ram OG next to him) hurt. Doesn't look assignment sound, pancakes players who are on the other side of the field from the ball.
sigh. need center....

I seriously doubt he will be gone at 57. Most mocks have Dickerson from Alabama gone before 57 and that is about it.

He is a D3 player the competition stinks that is not to say he won't make it in the NFL but what it does is give pause to any team as to how good he is. Dickerson as an example played against elite competition as a Center Meinerz is a Guard. I saw an interview today with him on the NFL morning show and he says he has been practicing at Center so he is considered versatile for GMs but he says he is a Guard.

I like the kid but the projections are all over the board on him from day 2/3 round draft pick all the way to developmental round 7 pick. When a player is not slotted it usually means there are a lot of questions in this case it is where he played Wisconsin Whitewater.

Lol I don't know what you're reading, but there is no way this kid is a day 3 pick. Zero chance. He wont make it to round 3. His athleticism and strength is on par with elite OTs which is rare on the inside. His vertical would've been 2nd of all OL in the 2020 draft. Again, Daniel Jeremiah said multiple teams have him as the #1 center on their board. Most #1 centers are drafted late 1st round, early 2nd. Like I said I sincerely doubt he'll be available 25 picks into round 2. But if we are planning to go center there should be a few options for us.

I like him - but he’s a project and developmental guy. Can’t see him playing year 1 at all. Risky taking him with your top pick. I think he goes early/mid 3rd round Possibly late 2nd if someone has multiple picks and is in no rush/need.

Creed is my guy. If gone at 57, then I like Meinerz if we trade back to 3rd or with our 88. But there are others available in 3-6th round that are developmental good guys and we can instead use 57/88/103 on OT, CB, LB types that can maybe contribute some immediately.

I wouldn’t bank on what you hear about teams draft boards. I don’t think they actually tell reporters the truth about those things.

The Rams spoke to him twice. They don’t have a first round pick. They often trade back. So if it’s not a smoke screen then they may be looking at him like another Demby. A guy with ability but poor technique.

@Shuie3225 Demby was supposedly given first round grades by several teams too.

I kind of like what I’m seeing of Morrisey from Pittsburgh. I think Meyer moves to guard and so does Creed Humphries. I like Dickerson a lot but never like picking a guy with injuries early.

There will be Centers in rounds 3 & 4. Morrisey may be, another could be Drake Jackson or Mike Menet. Beyond them I don’t think you get a lot of impact.

I do like that Meinerz finishes his blocks til they are completely on their ass. I like that aggressiveness from a lineman.

Sorry dont see the comparison at all. This guy is a physical specimen on the inside. No chance he goes on day 3 like Demby. The guy showed up to the senior bowl and was dominating 1st round prospects in 1 on 1s. He is a bit raw, but he wont be blown off the ball I can tell you that. We need more physicality up front and so do a lot of teams.
