I don’t necessarily disagree. At the same time, if AD pushes for Staley to come back, that’d be a big deal. Of course that presumes Raheem Morris gets a HC gig which I think he should and deservedly so, ESPECIALLY after this year

You never say never. And I would be fine with him coming back if that is what McVay wants ... I don't know enough to know what Staley knows and what McVay wants, etc.

I am suggesting, however, (not to you but the few who worship Staley) that it is possible that Staley was in a good situation in 2020 -- smart guy, scheme that was newfangled or "new Fangioed" as it were and that some of the results were not based on Staley's smarts bu the fact that NFL teams had not had time to figure out the Fangio scheme.

That's all.

I think people might consider that Staley, based on his defense with Chargers, isn't as good as they think, that teams figured him out and they would have figured him out with Rams, too.

That and the fact that he's only has 1 good year calling defenses in the NFL.

We also need to remember that Pleasant was warts, too.

There ar other possibilities, too. Maybe now that Fangio scheme is not so new --- what if McVay wants to go in a different direction -- away from Fangio in part ... or 50% away, or 33% away ...

My bottom line is I don't know. I like Staley good but he's no savant, either.

I’m in the same lane as @JimY53 on Staley and have said as much for the last year or so.. I just wonder if he was ahead of the curve.

That being said.. maybe HC was just too much for him.. and that his LEADERSHIP… not his actual coaching/scheme was the issue.

Who knows? I mean.. look at Flores D in Minny.. maybe a pissed off Staley with something to prove would work.
