If we can get Taylor for a 2nd and a late rounder that's a steal.

So am I.
Pointing out he would be the difference between being a losing team and being a winning team.
I think we have a better chance of obtaining Taylor without overtaxing our resources as compared to Burns. If we could get him and still retain resources (premium draft picks, money), I could be swayed.

Taylor is asking for McCaffery type of money. Structured properly thats about $14M/yr cap hit. The Rams have Havenstein on the books next year for more than $14M. For that money I'd rather have Taylor.

Montez Sweat is a FA next year. Young looks like an emerging edge of similar talent. Sweat is big and very fast (4.4 speed). He would be an interesting edge if paired with Young. It might be worth a call to the Commodes because getting something for him beats watching him leave with nothing in return. It would give the Rams a lot of speed on both edges. A third in 2024 and a second in 2025 might pry him loose.

He would probably cost them an average of $12M/yr and at 27 years old he's got 4 years left in him. Add a void year or two and it will drop considerably. It's all about the guaranteed money on both sides.

Doesn’t matter—we don’t ever set the run game up for success. The run game only exists to keep defenses a little honest so we can pass it 8 million times. Any time we start to run the ball well, we call 3 pass plays in a row and punt or try a field goal.

Doesnt matter who the RB is if you arent going to run the ball. And with Taylor on the PUP list, he couldnt have helped us regardless
Sure Taylor looked like a stud running behind the Colts oline, but so does Zach Moss.
Alas, I dont see any trades happening until the trade deadline and Burns value keeps going up

Taylor is asking for McCaffery type of money. Structured properly thats about $14M/yr cap hit.
Incorrect, McCaffrey money is 16+ mill per year. The 49ers actually got a "discount" because Carolina front loaded his deal with a signing bonus. His cap hit for '22 & '23 is only 4.2 mill TOTAL for the 2 seasons combined.

My picks would go to Jonathan Taylor (a second) and Chase Young (a fourth and conditional future third - becomes a second if we re-sign him). Burns is certainly an option over Young, but I'd rather pay less for an edge of equal talent and a running back who would instantly be the best we've had since Gurley.

I still have faith in turning this season around.

The Rams have needs at EDGE, OL, RB, ILB, & CB, ... I'm not spending a fortune in future draft picks and CAP for one guy to come in and save us.
2024 Free Agency combined with the 2024 Draft the Rams will be a far more formidable team, and along with a year of development for our many rookies, we'll be shocking the league like never before.

McVay should let Mike LaFluer call the offensive plays and become more of a traditional H.C., not micro-managing everything.

jmo.

If you're not gonna go get a Taylor.. at least call the Eagles and see if you can get Rashaad Penny.

Who knows... maybe he can last a few games. Definitely more explosive than Williams.

I would pay a ton for Taylor, but I don't expect to pay a McCaffery price because Indy has no leverage. Unlike McCaffery and the Panthers, it's very much obvious that Taylor doesn't want to play for Indy - or anyone - without a price tag, which is well within his rights.

I will reiterate: Chase Young is my edge target because I believe he'll cost less with just as much talent, but I wouldn't be upset with Burns either.

Weather the storm this year and invest heavily during the 2024 free agent period for an elite EDGE, a top quality CB, and a competent ILB to pair with Ernest Jones.
Draft a LT or WR next year with our 1'st round pick, then a RB, a TE, and another Center/RG type with excellent skills.

This presumes an elite edge will be available

Vikings are 1-3 and going nowhere.
Hunter is a FA after the season.. the organizations are friendly. This is a deal that could/should happen.
