I don’t know why we didn’t secure our reported deal with CMC; I am sure it must have been due to financial constraints.

As I recall, it was a little bit of a bidding war between the Rams and Niners; and San Francisco had a pick in a round that the Rams did not have because of a prior trade ... believe it was a fourth rounder.

The 49ers had more/better draft capital to offer.

Pity. We would have been so much better with him.

Maybe but no Steve Avila (he was the 2nd round pick the Rams would have given-up for CMC); and, probably no Kobe Turner (the Rams traded the 3rd round pick they would have given-up for CMC to the Giants for the picks that became Turner and Bennett).

And, with McCaffrey, the Rams would have a lot less cap space in 2024. CMC has a $14M cap hit next season.

I'd gladly pay the first for Burns. For comparison's sake, he's younger than Byron Young.

And you KNOW I'd pay 2 firsts for Taylor, bitches!" ~ Memo

You know it!" ~ @CGI_Ram

Nah, I'd go for, say, a later round pick for a running back. Second round pick will go to the offensive line. Third and fifth go to the Mizzou cornerbacks because you know you like Mizzou, Loyal.

Wonder if Burns is the type of guy who will just put his feet up when he gets paid. Last thing we need is to start off this new era with a highly paid starter going through the motions. Would rather draft in that 15-25 range where it feels like we'll be in round 1 and take my chances there.

I like CMC. He’s a great weapon and stand up teammate but let’s see if he lasts an entire 17 game season and playoffs before crowning him the next Marshall Faulk.

Snead needs to 'stay the course'.
No trading for an elite EDGE at this time, wait to see how it shakes out during free agency 2024. I'd like to see if Ochean Mathis has anything to offer when he returns from IR, ... just imagine if he showed the 'right stuff' at OLB as has Nacua at WR or some of our other recent draft picks ?
The only position I'd like to see added to now is a cheap RB to help spell Williams at RB.
Save our draft picks for next season.
jmo.
Just imagine he doesn't and he is still on IR. Burns is a proven star not a Bosa but a high quality OLB something we need. I doubt Mathias is that good or even in the same zip code. We have a blaring hole at OLB we need help or let's do nothing as you say and see how that works out for us.

An elite Edge would be quite a prize, although at what cost in lost future draft picks ? And is that enough for a ride to this years Super Bowl ?
Sorry, but my focus is on 2024 and developing this most recent draft class into the warriors of tomorrow.

What would the rams do with a first rounder? We know they’re not scared to deal it away and this team seems to be further along than many anticipated. Add to that the fact that Stafford is playing at a high level and healthy.
There was the thought that the team was gearing up for the next window of opportunity, one that might not include the big 3. Maybe this window is still open, maybe it’s not time to look for the next qb.

Would you not give up a 1st and potentially a little more for elite production over the next 5 years?

It’s silly that people want to draft someone that may take years to develop, only for us to have to pay them at contract time, for 5 years of production when we can just skip the growing pains

Agree with this.

Snead has talked about being "disciplined" this year and "paying off the credit card debt" and "sticking with the plan." I think this means the Rams are committed to being financially disciplined with the hope of going "all in again" in 2024 and spending big for a serious SB run.

If the Rams somehow go undefeated between now and the trade deadline, perhaps that plan would change. But I think they're still viewing 2023 as the developmental year for a big run in 2024.
Yeah that discipline was based on us losing the majority of 9ur games and sucking well we are definitely not sucking matter of fact we are pretty good. Taylor would be a strong pick up if our OL was up to the run blocking task and I'm not sure they are.

Burns is needed period or someone like him an upgrade at OLB is a definite need.

Nothing for either. They both want to break the bank in the offseason. Burns will get big money for mediocre numbers. Someone will pay him but I’d rather draft an edge in the draft and have him cost controlled for 5 years. Taylor is a shiny sports car with 100,000 miles already on the odometer and you can find good running backs in the 5th - 7 th round.
I get the Burns pov but ask the Raiders how Tyree Wilson is doing drafted at #7 not starting and Chandler Jones is on non injury IR so there is no guarantee that a draft pick will be a success. We all know how bad our draft picks have been recently outside of Earnest Jones until this off-season. No guarantees. Rolling the dice acquiring a proven commodity is the way to go at LT, OLB, QB and CB imo.

I've been advocating for a free agent or traded for Edge Rusher for a few years now, but cost is still important to me. If I thought that the Rams were only a Brian Burns away from an appearance in this year's Super Bowl, I'd be more willing. Burns will likely still be available after this year, and so might a few others whose stock is raised over the course of this season.

I hope McSnead waits for deals to come to them instead of going after players and trading away a bunch of draft picks. Maybe sign some really good free agents to big contracts without having to trade.

Maybe if we all pool together our ROD dollars we can afford both.
