Gaining a yard to stop the clock is interesting.

im thinking he meant, if the offense doesn't gain a yard it stops the clock...

force the O to gain 1 yard or the clock stops...

how else could you stop a kneel down when the D has no timeouts...

That 5 yard cushion would be an absolute flaming mess to officiate and a penalty generator all in one.

Then again I haven’t seen a CFL game in ages, and how that rule is officiated, so maybe I’m wrong.
