There are a few people here who play with the cap numbers understand how it works and can answer questions on it. All you gotta do is ask. As for the TV guys saying we cleared that much cap space I couldn't speak to what they were talking about I was outside an ICU visiting somebody that night so I didn't hear it. I don't know what they were referring to or when those moves happened. It could have been anything and it could have been stuff they did a couple weeks before I just don't know but looking at a quick google search, which is always your friend, the last restructures I can find were Whitworth and Woods prior to the season starting which likely was used to pay AD $8 million of his signing bonus which is allocated to this years salary cap.

That site by the way is a great resource. While there who would we cut to be able to afford Irvin? The rest of the season his base pay is about $5 million so we need to cut somebody and then also replace them. Gotta factor in dead money.

Just a quick question, I think I know the answer. Do you think people who don't want us to add an edge rusher don't also want the Rams to win? Any addition this point in the season isn't a guarantee to upgrade the defense regardless of their current production or past production either. How long is it going to take him to learn the defense and fit in with those around him? Maybe as long as it takes Obo? Just a though, just cause you add a new toy doesn't mean you're a better team defense.
And seriously asking if there would be complaints if we added Mack is an honest question? You think there would be complaints if we added a DPOY to our team? Come on man! But lets play a game. Mack's cap hit this year is $13.8 million we have $4.2 million so that means we have to clear up $10 million roughly in cap space, gotta keep some room for injury signings ala Santos. So who we cutting? One player cut well that won't work because no 1 player is going to free up that kind of cap space. So now we're cutting 2 guys to add Mack so looking at the cap figures we're likely going to have to cut 2 or 3 starters. Just playing the game we're talking about cutting two of Talib, Saffold and Whitworth. Or worse just not resigning AD yet or even worse signing him but pushing that $8 million in cap hit this years bonus allocation put on the cap back a year which is going to negatively affect the cap when we have to resign Goff.
As for who I'd want us to add I'm on record saying I don't think there's anybody we could afford that would make a difference or would be worth the draft picks to acquire them. Start with this list.

Browse through that list. But take off players on teams that are competing for a playoff spot which is most of the list. Likely take off division opponents and likely other NFC teams they won't want to deal with us. Take off teams with a QB on their rookie deal, that's the win now while the big money players are cheap mentality. Now you're stuck with what maybe Shaquil Barrett? Connor Barwin who we didn't resign even after we saw how much Wade likes the guy. In short there isn't much out there that is realistic that we could add. Barrett would be an interesting addition, he's young and on a relatively cheap 1 year deal and he did have 5.5 sacks coming off the bench with limited starts for Wade in Denver in 2015. Reddick would be interesting, he's on his rookie deal and not a fit in Arizona but would they trade with their division leaders? Not likely IMO.
Yes I and others would like to add somebody to the edge but I'm not sure it's as important to Wade as it seems to be to some fans. They added guys in the off season through the draft and brought back the guys he wanted. They built the defense and had the chance to do what fans wanted. They chose their route. I've said it probably a million times by now but trust in Wade.
