This is my wish list and i think injury prone or not we would not be dependent on Clowney but when he plays and if he can stay healthy the defense is outstanding. He is a very good run stopper but as far as pressure. How do you account for him AD and Floyd and then throw in the young guns with guys like Ramsey and Williams back there it's a must sign.
My wish list that is attainable with money to spare.

1. Clowney either one year deal or 2 year deal set up like a Floyd type obviously less money and minimal hit against this year's cap.

2. Adoree Jackson or Brian Poole same neighborhood as Desmond king and I would not be against giving either of them a 1-3 year deal. King got 3.5 million

3. Get these guys by working something out with Stafford if money to spare bring in a veteran center better than Blythe still a couple left.

4. If you can pull that off use the draft to get an eskridge reinforce the o-line basically draft a corner inside linebacker. Those positions where I'd focus.

One and two obviously cannot be accomplished without number three but that makes this defense very special.

Oh and if Gallowday wants 15-18 million asuch as I'd love him would that money look way better spread out over those 3 player?(I sat 3 but the center is unknown I'd even resign Blythe if I could get those guys and money to spare).

No thanks .... I think he is allergic to tackling

Then focus on Poole. That said Jackson is an upgrade to hill at nickel hate to tell you.

I don't believe it to be the same Clowney has something to prove will be probably cheaper. I like Dunlap he is older but he doesn't really need to take a prove it deal and if I had to go that route I'd probably rather have Ingram. I don't believe he has signed.

Dunlap single-handedly improved the Seattle defense by quite a bit.

He's def equal to Clowney at this point. Better pass rusher, not quite as good in run D.

I dont understand the love for Clowney anymore. He's just never elevated to that high level, or even close to it imo, that was expected when he came out. I know injury prevented his teaming up with Watt, only 2 full seasons together, 1 was his 2nd year, and he wasnt the all world phenom
Problem I see with him is that he still thinks he is

I know this is a Clowney thread, but I got carried away. I worry about Clowney he seems to underachieve where Dunlap and Ingram don't.

CB - Me I too like Jackson if can stay healthy, because he can replace Hill, run punts back and possibly go in on offense for some plays. This is a need we are thin here. Long/Deayon hasn't gotten their yet imo.

Center - look at Andrews and Reiter but not Blythe. Just remember what Sully did for us coming over from GB for 2 years.

OLB - Dunlap or Ingram then Clowney. FA over draft pick.

Right Tackle - watch this reaction. Sign Isaiah Wilson who Miami just cut to a league minimum and work with him over the next year on his personal issues he was a first rounder. Could be a huge get.

Left Tackle - I wish we could go after Brown from Baltimore. LTs like great QBs are usually almost impossible to get other than this season.

ILB - we need real big help here and not sure where it comes from but this MUST be addressed maybe Warner from OSU - easy scouting report from Fuller. I think this area like Center is a priority.

Guard - we need an upgrade here at least at one spot. Maybe in 3rd rd.

RB - need a big bruiser we can find in draft.

Wr - need a speed guy we can find in draft.

TE - not sure if Hopkins will grow we shall see. None needed in draft.

Safety - like CB we are a little thin. Can we get by yes but if anyone goes done we will be light plus JJ3 was great we are taking a step down.

DL - we lost Fox and Rivers. Not sure it is a priority maybe low draft gem.

QB - fine do not do anything here.

Overall we are in good shape minus the OL. Nobody from Rams management seems to agree so what do I know until the season plays out.

Recap -

FA - CB, OLB, C one of the 3 if possible.

Draft priority depending on FA - ILB, C, G, or CB - ILB and C being top priority.

Later rounds - S, speed wr, bruiser back, DT

Aquire Wilson for league minimum.

I see Clowney and Floyd as very similar players when it comes to run defense (minus Seattle games) similar QB pressure guys. Floyd is a better coverage guy.

So does Morris need/want another Floyd clone on the opposite side? IMO that wo be the driving force for signing Clowney. I am an Ingram fan having watched him play in the AFC West the past 8 years.

And*** Dunlap is no slouch

On this one my friend I respectfully disagree. I think Dunlap is a very good player and perhaps 3-4 years younger could see that point of view. However with Floyd and AD what that would open up for Clowney and his athleticism would and could do wonders and to have to run stoppers on the outside with pressure ability with our backend would be huge. Clowney can ay every down Dunlap might just be simply a pass rusher.
I agree though I hear you loud and clear and my last reason is money.
Dunlap has nothing left to prove while Clowney has all the upside ceiling still he will more than likely command less money. For those reasons I'd prefer Clowney. Youth money run stopping ability he requires a double in a lot of cases now he would have support. His pressures would turn to sacks. He does bring more fear to the defense no disrespect to Dunlap.
In your opinion what do you think thier contracts will look like?

I agree Dunlap no slouch but Clowney was on the titans and yes oft injured.
That said nothing wrong with similar players on both sides seal the edge pressures Clowney AD up the middle big SJD ....and if u stick Clowney next to AD on the line Floyd olb Lewis/on other side that's difficult to say the least your roster has lots of flexibility. And you can really play with other teams offense.
Imagine having those guys and then they try and account for them and you blitz up the middle. Just so many different fun things for Morris to scheme. I hear you though we all have a preference but if Clowney can be gotten cheaper it's a no brainer for me even at the same price.
I'm not so sure though Dunlap hasn't earned another decent payday with last years performance. Clowney on a prove it is a nice dream.

I agree that having two super solid edge holders who can get to the QB fast would be amazing. I wouldn't say no to us adding Clowney at all.

That said, I think we already have a strong side edge and could use a ROLB who's a better pass rusher to increase pressure on the QB.

So, not saying no to Clowney and agree that he may have to take a pretty low 1 year deal.

Honestly, when it comes to the 2nd wave of FA, I think guys better get with it because pretty soon teams will go to "we'll see who's available after the draft" and the money after the draft will be vet minimums... if that.

Just emphasis on how strongly one feels. Since we cant have a real discussion face to face an expression that's all.
Alas maybe its just a knit picky annoying power hungry thing if that bothers someone that much to edit complain or even contemplate changing it lol but that could just be me too!!!!!!! :)

Never cared for Clowney, too much hype and never came close to living up to it.

I would like to see them check out Olivier Vernon. A little long in the tooth but, 9 sacks last year.
