heres my problem

I was hooked on Stormlight for the first 2 books..but Oathbringer...ehhhh. gave up reading it and started the Mistborn series, finished that only to find out that there are 2 books between book 2 and book 3? So back to Oathbringer again, and still struggling though it

For me the pay off of certain information coming to light at the end of Oathbringer was a worthwhile payoff for a book that lagged a bit in the mid section. Dalinar's story is tragic man, and that's a huge part of Oathbringer. The book can seem a little long at times but there are just so many questions I want answered. Admittedly I'm a bit of a fan boy though. I hope you make it through! You'll find it worth it in the end!

As for as the 2 books between book 2 and 3 I can only think of the one: Edgedancer. Is that the one you're thinking of? It's short and fun, but not a necessary read in the series.

I just finished Lisey's Story by Stephen King, and The Throat by Peter Straub. Both were very good and entertaining until the end. I strongly suggest them if you are into books like these.

I am reading Book 2 right now - I am not as big of a fan of Stormlight as I was of Mistborn. It's good but I can find myself stop reading it for a few weeks at a time.

Raymond Feist Magician series was just a fun series. Very light reading.

His Empire series was much better in my opinion.

Was the Empire series the one that includes Shadow of a Dark Queen? I read that one and wasn't sure if I wanted to continue the series.

The conclusion to Words of Radiance is so epic! Kaladin’s arc is just perfect to me. But I get it, I’m currently on book 7 of Wheel Of Time and yeah, I forget to read somedays lol It’s getting political and slow

That’s what I’ve heard. Luckily I’m pretty invested in the characters so its keeping my interest. Plus the show coming out has me all hyped up. I hear Sanderson nailed the ending and that’s some motivational material as well lol

The last book to end the series was way better than anyone expected. Sanderson completely nailed the ending based on Robert Jordan's outline that he drew up before he died.

I can't wait for the TV series in November.

Just an FYI - I reread all the books again last year knowing the TV series was coming out - and it was really really really hard to get thru book 10. I kept putting it down.

Jordan could have combined books 8 - 10 into 1 1/2 books and it would have been so much better.

There are still good parts to each book just going to be a long read in some of the sections.

I really struggle to balance my love it fiction with my desire to learn new stuff.

I listened to The Design of Everyday Things and a couple different Great Courses on military and business strategy.
If you haven't read Michael Crichton, try his books. Start with something like Air Frame. Every book is super entertaining, and you will learn a ton with every book.

I highly recommend anything by Michael Crichton and Michael Connelly. I enjoyed a lot of Robin Cook's stuff, but after about 15 of his books, they started feeling really similar. I have read about 60 of the Star Wars books, and have enjoyed most of them. If you don't mind REALLY long books, check out Ken Follett. I started Dostoevsky's 5 great novels, but so far, I have only finished Crime and Punishment. I have read a bunch of Stephen King and Dean Koontz, and both are OK. Maybe horror books just aren't for me. Seems like neither one really has mastered ending their stories. I really enjoyed Atlas Shrugged, Anthem, and The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rynd.

I look for authors that have a lot of books, and if I like them, I will read all of their stuff in order. Love this thread, as I am always looking for new reading material.

And if you have a strong disposition, try reading The Gulag Archipelago. A lot of it is difficult to read, but completely exposes socialism for the brutality of the ideology. If you are going through a difficult time in your life, it puts things into perspective to see the horrors that others have had to live through. It really made me realize how small most of my problems are.

How to Survive a Demonic Invasion, by yours truly. Warrior/Sage/Cleric.net (the prequel to How to Survive a Demonic Invasion), by yours truly. Upsilon (a spinoff), by yours truly. The other three as-of now unnamed sequels to How to Survive a Demonic Invasion, by yours truly.

Will add that I came up with the other three sequel names: The Devil Came Back to Earth, As We March Into Hell, and The Hell of Demonkind! There's also a bunch of stories related to the sequel, so, like Upsilon, they're pretty much spinoffs in this multiverse. I have titles for...thirty-six novels in total (counting the Demons series), pending what I come up with?

When and where can I buy these?

“There, there”
By Tommy Orange

A very unique style of writing adds to the narrative of the modern day Native American. A brief history lesson in the beginning sets you up and then there’s a character study of many people who are en route to the big pow wow at the Oakland Coliseum. There is a big climactic event that is underscored while it is being set up through the daily lives and family histories of the modern versions of today’s Native American.

I grew up in the Bay Area (San Jose) and went to both Coliseum venues many, many times over the years. I had no idea this huge event, and what it meant to the Native American culture went on.

The book is entertaining, brilliantly written as its style changes with each character/chapter, but is heartbreaking at its core.

BLM? LGBT? The Native American situation has no political clout or reward and is a sad, excruciatingly slow genocide.

Cough Wheel of Time Cough

Saberhagen books are fun books to read and he has written a lot of books. I really like the Drittz character (plus I really liked the Balder Gate games that were based on these books)

Plus if you want a ton of books written by different authors - you can start reading the Dragonlance series

The first 6 are really good by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman

Note - all books I have listed in this thread that I recommend other than Wheel of Time are easy light reading that are just fun if you like those kinds of fantasy books.
