The we have something they don't cliche is overused imo.

Too many people think this way.

The Rams might be the modern-day popular choice that screams come play for us and our awesome new SoFi stadium, amazing culture and super cool head coach, but the willing to accept less perception is way overstated.

I don't buy into the hype that the Rams current culture and success is as persuasive as a lot of people on this forum think.

Money will always have more power than championship status (I want to win a ring) cliches'.

With some guys, there comes a point where they're willing to sacrifice some money for winning and legacy purposes. Bobby may or may not be one of those guys. But if he's willing to give us a bit of a discount, we can compensate him plenty well.

This take might hold up better if we hadn’t seen pros outright state that LA’s culture is SPECIAL and guys have come here for it

Would love to have him on the squad but not at the expense of von Miller or OBJ. Those are more important players to our team. He would have to take a deep discount to play with us a I haven't heard that in the cards for him yet
No for sure I agree. Von #1 no doubt. I'm assuming OBJ is already signed based on his twitter posts this week. We'll likely structure an incentive based deal for 1-2 years since he'll miss half of next season. But I bet there is a way to sign all 3 if we really want to. If not then Wagner should become a priority if we lose out on Von. But pass rusher is much more important to our team given we already have Ernest Jones who should be a big playmaker for us next year.

I think the Rams will work HARD to figure out Von and Wagner (I also think OBJ is a done deal).

Why? Even with Gaines and A’Shawn Robinson improving the run D, adding Wagner would vault this D into a top 5 D and with this offense… makes running it back all that more likely.

I’d rather have Wagner than Rapp as the cover LB…

I don't understand how to "multi-quote," so I hope this works. I'm responding to Mac's comment on folks coming here for the culture in his response to Florida.

I don't think there is any doubt about us being a "draw" due to a number of things, our team's culture being at the top of the list. To Florida's point, I'm not sure we've seen someone come here on the "discount" that is so often used. Are there any examples of this? I just can't think of m/any.

Suh came on a one year $10M deal that was considered a discount at the time.

That said, I don’t think the issue is so much a discount as a balance of money, culture, location and rehab facilities (don’t sleep on the importance of Reggie Scott to guys coming in)

So for aging vets, the Rams are infinitely better than Washington , for example

Sure there are some guys that back up your thinking. The percentage is extremely low and always has been.

Money will persuade the majority of the some guys willing to sacrifice some money for winning and legacy purposes as you stated.

Your argument has little merit and I've been following the NFL for several years.

Winning and Legacy rarely trumps a bigger paycheck in the NFL. Not knocking you, but I've seen enough dollars change a players decision regardless of the winning and legacy intangibles.

Incentive based contracts from moss and dillon to gronk and brown, have shown that many, if not most players in those circumstances, will take a cut to get that ring. How much is the question. The main reason the percentage may be low is because there just hasnt been a lot of players with those specific circumstances and talent. Many players who may be a year or 2 away from a hall of fame career look at their final contract differently and as many have said, money is not the deciding factor at that point.

Well, I certainly don't know how to "multi reply" on this site!
-Wolf, you just named all Pats. Who are the Ram players who have taken below-market deals to join our culture?

My opinion - Mack and Bobby is a bit too much money for the same line. But, they have it, and AD, VM and LF worked OK.

BTW - I don’t pray much, but am…for an all LA SB.

Those were off the top of my head but players nearing the end of their careers will take less to get a ring. That's just the way it is. I bet at least one FA signs with rams for less money because of that.

That ring means every post-career endorsement opportunity begins with “Super Bowl Champion…”

That’s actually a quantifiable factor just like the average lifetime earnings with college degree is quantifiable.

Thing is more and more players are FINALLY paying attention to that and our beloved Rams are at the vanguard of this movement (yes, NE did the “get the ring for aging vets thing, but LA is where we see the synergy of the ring and endorsements)

No, I don’t think JAGs or mid-tier guys are gonna give big discounts, but they aren’t who we’re talking about.

We’re talking about elite or formerly elite players after their second contract who like Big Whit, Stafford and OBJ are super competitive and want that ring.

Wagner is among them… as opposed to someone like Cory Littleton who wouldn’t and shouldn’t take anything less than the max the market offers.

To multi quote, hit the ”+quote" button on a few posts, then hit "insert quotes" button on the reply box. It will prompt you asking if the shown quotes are what you wanted. You just hit yes or whatever and then it dumps them all in there.

As far as all the discount players being pats, I think that started after their second or third super bowl win. It was seen as a high probability they would go again, so guys started signing up cheap to get a ring. The question is, do free agents feel that way about the Rams right now? I don't know the answer to that question.

Rams brothers, can you imagine Wagner replacing Reeder and somehow the Rams keep Von Miller?

Heck, I think (honestly) the Rams should go "all in" again for 2022 and try to win it all again.

Can you imagine our defense with Wagner instead of Reeder and most of the key pieces returning?
I doubt we would see Wagner being dragged 5 to 10 yards by Deebo

That'd be a dream. Only real question mark would be CB and S.

Not at all. Suh was cut by Miami and had little interest since he had another issue on field in '17. He got paid handsomely for a 1 year prove it deal at 14 mill which was higher than the Franchise tag figure for DT that year. Hasnt sniffed that much $$ since

I'm with @Florida_Ram the idea that guys sign for "the culture" or "chance to win a ring" is really cliche and just doesnt happen. At least not with guys who are UFA that are amongst the highest sought guys.
Its always the money, particularly of the guaranteed variety, that lands the player

Give that shit a rest, dude. You're not the only person who has followed the NFL for a long time. You can disagree without being condescending.
