Motivated to get better by cheating? I beg to differ. It shows a lack of commitment and work ethic. Robinson didn't like his original 40 time so he lost weight, strengthened his legs, and put in the work to improve that time. It worked and he dropped his time from a 4.6 to a mid 4.4 time. That's how you do it. That shows commitment to improving, while PEDs show just the opposite. You don't think McVay and Snead don't understand that? He raised the bar for himself and who knows if he has the strength of character to make it. All he did was make Hoecht look better.

IMO he went from active roster to PS.

Let’s not go off the deep end! Dude is still very young. He made a costly mistake, but then again it could be for the best.

Do you know the rule on PED’s. Does he get to be at training camp ?

I thought J. Brown got to play preseason games in 2017?

Heard Morgan Fox is a charger today. The report was they have the best roster in the nfl. I sort of agree as a Rams Fan. SJD69,Blues eyes,J.Everett as well.

I think he's allowed a TC. He's just not allowed around the team or at its facilities during the first 6 weeks of the season.

Hopefully, he gets the help he needs to develop in a manner that will help him in the long run...

Using Hopkins as a comparable;

"DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals has been suspended without pay for the first six games of the 2022 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances," an NFL spokesperson said in an official statement. "Hopkins is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games. He will be allowed to return to the Cardinals' active roster following the team's sixth regular-season game."

Perfect - I wonder how D. Hopkins does as a veteran player for the Cards ? It will tell a little on how there season could be ?

Bobby Brown as a Ram DT should get a lot of work in the preseason. He can actually learn to play through pain, injury, & some diversity. He wasn’t going to be counted on much anyway early. Just helps with a roster spot for Copeland,Jonas & Hoecht.
This Garcia kid should get some playing time like Oldnotdead said.

Add Ernest Brown as The Rams only DE listed on the roster. He is a bit of a tweener, but should be fun to watch during training camp & preseason.

Wasn't it Snead who said that the Rams want to model there program after the New England Patriots?

I guess Bobby Brown thought that meant;

"If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying".

Any response from him or the team? I’d like to hear what he has to say before condemning him.

Capt Uboat: "Blackbart came up dirty on that last urinalysis. I'll have to take a chevron."
XO: "Shouldn't we wait to hear his excuse before busting him?"

What were the plans for him this season? A bigger role in the rotation? Or just down the depth chart somewhere? I don't know how many games he actually got on the field, but in his stat line there was only one game of ten he had a stat. An assisted tackle against the Jaguars. Did they have bigger plans for him in his second season? Because he'll be available for 12 games if they do.

Can someone explain how easy it is - or is not, to take PEDs? I'm clueless, basically... Can it be by mistake, or does it have to be overtly obvious one is violating NFL policy?

Inquiring minds want to know....

Somewhere Marquise Copeland and Michael Hoecht are smiling.
I did consider Bobby Brown as the top DL reserve.

I am sure that Coach Henderson would had heavy-duty plans to utilize BB for the entire complete 2022 season with the impending UFA FA'cy exit of Robinson/Gaines when this season concludes.

BB had been working primarily @ the 3 tech & some NT in his washed-out rookie season.

The DL'er who will certainly greatly benefit from this 6 gm suspension of BB is Marquise Copeland who has been a Ram for well over 3 yrs.

Another Ram DL'er who is sure to see a ton of snaps @ every DL position in passing situations will be Mike Hoecht who is entering his 3rd training camp as a Ram. MH was active for all the preseason games & all 21 NFL 2021 Ram games.

Pass rushing DE Jonah Williams is another DL who is entering his 3rd season, and who will see a ton of action @ both the 3 tech & the 5 tech posts in passing situations this upcoming season.

Having BB shelved for 6 early gms puts him even further behind the above competition. Even DE Ernest Brown is sure to see snaps. Henderson may end up utilizing both Gaines & Robinson in rotation @ the NT position letting the above four mentioned DL'er work over the 3 tech & 5 tech posts.

Coach Henderson is sure to be upset with BB over this. BB has the most talent of any DL Ram reserve.

It's hard to say because they never release the type of PED that was consumed. There are supplements you can get over the counter that may have an ingredient that's on the list, or someone may not care and think they're not going to get caught.

Whats the percentage of NFL players operating.....outside the rules.....probably 80% or more.
The bad part is getting caught.
Gotta work with someone who prevents you from getting busted.

To piggyback off of this post and give an example, supplements like phenylperacetam which are entirely legal and haven't ever been shown to work at all are on the banned list. An unsuspecting young athlete might purchase this on recommendation from a friend and unwisely not check with anyone about it. Zero effect, full penalty.

There are also a number of drugs (prescription and over the counter) that hide the presence of banned substances. IIRC some are fairly common over the counter weight loss supplements. These are also considered a fail. If you need more info about those substances, ask the Seahawks. They are/were known for using them.

There is a huge difference when a guy looks for something to give him an edge in a highly competitive environment and a guy who knows he must improve himself to give himself an edge in that same environment. It's a mindset to be sure but an important difference. He needs to prove to himself he can do it. The second example is a guy that knows he can do it. Ask AD, and Robinson, there are no chemical shortcuts. Bobby needs to put in the work, not only in the gym but in his whole life style.

Alaric Jackson found he needed to redo himself. The way he was at the time wasn't good enough. He changed everything, lost weight, strengthened, and exercised to improve his quickness and movement. Sought good coaching to improve his game. The result was Alaric was a completely different player at the Senior Bowl than he was in his college film. He carried that over to his rookie year. I was amazed at the difference he showed last year in preseason and what he carried over to the Vikings game. He showed true development across the board. If he continues on that trajectory he's going to be a good OT. Bobby needs only to look around him to see how it's done, instead of looking for shortcuts.

The NFL actually is more strict with PED violations compared to drug abuse cases. Before the new CBA PED violators were banned from practices and the facility. I'm not sure how it's handled under the new CBA.

Absolutely, it's not too late, but there is no question he opened the door for the guys behind him. Bobby needs to re-assess how he trains. He can use the time to body build and condition himself. A lot can be done between now and his return to the roster in October. Like others I was underwhelmed by his performance last year. I was left wondering where the monster in the middle was.

He was drafted into an experienced DT room. Donald, Robinson, SJD, Gaines all have developed NFL bodies and are stronger than him. He could have been too eager to catch up.

What even is the PED policy anymore? Is six games the first offense punishment? Not really worried about it unless this is a multiple time problem.

I can see that if the ingredient list is typical of a grocery store item - well, you'd go blind just trying to read it all...

OTOH... would one not expect the team/trainers to provide access to optional and approved supplements? Or at least a means (like, contract it out) to acquire safe substances?

This all seems sketchy to me... but then again, one glance this way, and you can see, that the typical NFL specimen if drastically different than this one.... :wow2:

Wish there was an official player statement. I'm willing to give BBIII some leeway here until he proves/demonstrates otherwise.

Just a random reminder, the Starcaps case from a few years back involved a banned substance, not listed on the ingredient list, that the NFL knew was in the product, and didn't tell the players.
You have undoubtedly heard about the litigation in Minnesota involving players on the Vikings who took StarCaps which contained the drug bumetanide, a substance said to mask the use of steroids which is banned by the National Football League. One problem (actually one of many problems with the case) is that the label for StarCaps did not list bumetanide as an ingredient. The NFL knew that StarCaps contained the substance, but it did not inform the players. StarCaps is an over-the-counter weight-loss diuretic that contains, it says, "Natural Extract Papaya & Garlic" that comes from the higher Andes of Peru. (Do papaya and garlic not grow in the lower Andes?) It may be a long way from Peru to Minneapolis, but StarCaps' trail of woe has created full employment for sports and labor lawyers.
The League (and, presumably, the amici, who will likely be granted the opportunity to contribute their two cents) emphasizes the importance of having a no-fault, strict liability policy. As the NFL Policy states: "Players are responsible for what is in their bodies, and a positive result will not be excused because a player was unaware that he was taking a [banned] substance."
