One of the aspects of the NFL that I love most is the Story Lines for different teams.
Hell, I want everyone to lose but the Rams ... however, I enjoy the story lines.
Thea Eagles and Nick Sirianni should be an interesting one.
Sirianni was a young first time head coach, who hired two young coordinators in Shane Steichen (one year of OC experience) and Jonathan Gannon (first time DC); and the Eagles go to the playoffs in Year One and the Super Bowl in Year Two. And things look really bright.
Then, both young coordinators get head coaching jobs, and Sirianni hires two more young coordinators in Sean Desai (one year of DC experience) and Brian Johnson (first time NFL OC). Following a great start (10-1), the wheels come-off (1-6); and it's difficult to explain/understand what-the-fuck-happened.
Sirianni is retained but both of the young coordinators are dismissed.
The new hires are VERY experienced. Vic Fangio's first job as an NFL Defensive Coordinator was almost thirty years ago. Kellen Moore is young but already has five years experience as an Offensive Coordinator. Both have (at least appeared to have) enjoyed significant autonomy in their recent coordinator roles.
Is that going to be a little bit of a Dream Team of coaches? How will that work out. Usually, it does not.
How much of these hires were Sirianni's decision vs. Howie Roseman and/or Jeffrey Lurie input?
Will Sirianni have any real role with the Defense?
Will Sirianni control Moore, or will Moore have autonomy?
If one side of the ball far-out-plays the other, will there be some diss-harmony?
That should be a fun watch in 2024.
I love football ... and ...
