That move addressed the fact we had no corner specific expertise in this defensive staff.

And I think it demonstrates that McVay doesn't believe Lake can be that for us.
Lakes first 9 coaching jobs were defensive backs coach or assistant db coach. Again I'm not a Lake fan and I agree with what you said there. But again I'm not going to exclude Lake from the judgement you assign solely to Pleasant and Shula. A minor disagreement IMO hope we can still be amigos :D

Yeah I don't think the disagreement is all that great. I just don't think Lake is a factor at all, but the bottom line is neither of us think much of him. It may be that McVay asked him at some point in the season to get involved, who knows. But the nice thing about McVay is he will make the move he needs to make if that was the case.

Gotta read McVay based on his moves. He'll never come out and say what it is because he tries to save the ego of the coaches he casts off. But the guys he's not happy with will move on even if the new job's a downgrade.

One good lookin staff right there. :laugh3:
Titans about to change that logo tbh

Tough call here because the locker room is going to be very difficult to win over with the departure of Schwartz, so the easy hire of the three is Jason Tarver, who has been a DC before with the Oakland Raiders under Dennis Allen. Cory Undlin has been a DC before too in 2020 with the Detroit Lions, but only lasted one year as the Lions fired Matt Patricia .

Undlin has the most experience and Tarver might be more welcomed, but IMHO, Mike Ruternberg has the most upside with his background (Ivy League) Cornell graduate and did coach under Robert Saleh in San Francisco and with the New York Jets as the LB Coach. Again, Todd Monken is put in a no win situation so with that being communicated, if Tarver is well received with the defense IMO, I would go with him because the other guys will be swimming upstream right from the outset.

The Mevis connection!!!

Prior to his stint in Durham, he spent the 2021 campaign at Iowa State as a special teams quality control coach, where he helped mentor kicker Andrew Mevis, who was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award. The Cyclones finished 7-6 and made an appearance in the Cheez-It Bowl.

Mevis is the older brother of Los Angeles Rams kicker Harrison Mevis.
