I've been mulling over the Will Levis situation and the two teams I feel should look at trading up are the Vikings and Titans.
Both need a young, developmental QB and Levis supposedly has first round talent so they should be getting decent value in the second round.

Mayer is an excellent blocker already and I'm not sure the the difference in their blocking ability is THAT great. But I think if the Rams go TE, they'll either go with a bigger receiving weapon (Musgrave, Kraft, LaPorta) or wait and pick a more traditional Y later.

Levis has a very quick release. I don't know about the rest but, I'm sure McVay knows. Not worried either way.

I'm not so convinced he will be terrible. He was decidedly not terrible in '21, when he was healthy and had a weapon. I'm not pushing for or even hoping we take him, I'm just saying he is not assured of being terrible. I'd take him over Hooker myself. The only way I'd be ok-ish about us taking a QB this high, is a trade down first, so we have a chance to fill the pick we are using on a QB that won't play this season.
Absolutely. Tennessee is probably already talking to all the teams ahead of us which scares me. What is McSnead are very much into one of those QB's? They met with Hooker twice. If that is the case, they might be trying to move up also, which would be a utter disaster.
Please not to Musgrave. Its one of my main wishes in the 2nd round. I don't see it with him. I mean, who could? He had less production then Washington and is supposed to be this "weapon". I'm all the way out on him.

He also has a huge arm and is surprisingly very athletic. He sort of reminds me of Wentz when he was coming out. Yes, forget about Wentz now, but he was leading candidate for MVP at one point. Again, I'm not hoping we take Levis, just think he does have a good amount of value in the 2nd round.

Sorry, I just don't see it with Levis. Shit, I'd take Tune over that guy honestly. I think he's going to be a bust. The guy doesn't have great tape. In college, a good QB should be able to do that a lot because it definitely won't get easier in the pros. He's a hard pass for me.
First off you can't predict how someone is going to turn out in the future. Especially from the couch. Second it's not about being a backup QB but a future starter. Do you really think Stafford is going to last 2023? Who's going in when he goes down? Oh the most important position on the field and we have no one.
The draft is not about filling the starting roster now. It's about building the future.

First off, I can make any prediction from the couch so just check that part. It's what everyone does couch or no couch. I don't agree with you and that's ok. If we bomb cuz Stafford gets hurt, Caleb Williams or Drake Maye are far far superior prospects.
There's always a "sneaking suspicion" when a guy pans out. When they were prospects, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Cam Newton, and Justin Herbert had a lot of detractors. Newton, Jackson, and Mahomes became NFL MVPs. Hurts just led his team to the Super Bowl. Allen and Herbert are two of the best young QBs in the NFL.
Richardson has his flaws. Richardson is a risky pick. He may not pan out. But if he does, he's the sort of talent who will be in NFL MVP discussions. I completely understand the Colts taking that risk. Worst case scenario, he busts, and you take another shot on a QB in a couple years. Best case scenario, you get a NFL MVP. Might as well swing for the fences when Stroud and Young are gone.

Folks are missing the boat on Mayer. ND has put plenty of TE's in to the NFL recently, and he's the best of the bunch.
What I think is highly overlooked is how Mayer has been "the guy" to stop for the Irish, and yet he keeps producing. In 3 years he played with 4 different starting QB's, and still remained the go-to guy.
Not to mention he blocks better than any TE in this draft not named Darnell Washington

#2 Hooker- top 5 talent, without injury might have been #1 overall. You cant always wait until you need a QB before you go get one
#3 Branch- plug and play, instant starter
#4 Darnell Washington- would rather wait until 3rd but he wont be there then. Have doubts about his lack of production but gaining a 6th OT who has potential to be a weapon on offense works for me
#5 Torrence- dont really know much about him but trust in the folks here pounding the table for him and lord knows we need help on the o-line

Even with all the holes to fill, it would be a good move to find Staffords replacement.
QB purgatory scares the hell out of me.
With that said. We should have a decent 1st rbd pick next year to grab one as well. Providing they like the qb depth that comes out next year.
