I call your Andrew Tiles and raise you one Anthony Rendon

6/6 3 HR and 10 RBIs
yeah I saw that from earlier in the day. Insane. Was that after Syndergard left, or was it before cause I know the score was 23-5.

Cody Bellinger is the first Dodger rookie to ever have 2 multi HR games in the first 10 games of their career. Think about that for a second, this is from the club with more Rookie of the Year awards than any other club. They've had 17 the next closest is 2 teams tied with 8. And this is the first time it's been done by a Dodger. I love me some Bellinger :)

I don't see the tie in with Rookie of the Year awards and 2 multi HR games in their first 10 games. Unless you're thinking Bellinger will win ROTY? Even then it is comparing Dodgers ROTYs and not Cardinals ROTYs.

Merely stating it's an impressive feet for a rookie. And a team like the Dodgers with 17 ROY winners in the 70 years of the award has never had it.

I don't know. It is definitely good. No doubt about that and you certainly have reason to be excited about his talent. I suppose I'm looking at it tempered by what is the beauty of baseball, that which sets it apart from all other sports. Baseball is the long haul. 162 games for every team. The greatest team still gets beat by the worst team at least once, usually. Teams and players all have hot and cold spells during a season. Failure is hitting safely 2 out of 10 at bats. Hall of Fame is 3 out of 10 at bats. Immortality is 4 out of 10 at bats. Point being immortality comes despite failing 60% of the time. Thats baseball. Think of the contributing factors that could be in play for Bellinger over such a short span of his first 10 games.

1. The quality of pitching is diluted with 30 teams and a lower pitching mound.
2. The ball is juiced compared to decades past.
3. Trend in newer ballparks is to get shorter down the foul lines.
4. Newer ballparks are more open to the wind.
5. Teams can't have much of a pitching book on a rookie who hasn't yet played 10 games.
6. Teams will pitch to a rookie if he is followed in the lineup by a known talented hitter.

Some, none or all of the above could be in play for Bellinger. I don't know. The nature of the competition has changed in MLB over the decades. The very nature of baseball allows for a myriad of records possible (same with all sports I suppose) especially if you qualify by stating his first 10 games. That said I wish Bellinger the best in his quest for ROTY but not against the Cardinals.

Just hit a grand salami tonight. Puts him now at this line:

15-42 11 runs 1 2b 1 3b 5 hr 14 rbi 5 bb 8 k's

MLBN just said he's the 7th person in the history of baseball to get 5 hr and 14 rbi in his first 11 games. Limited sample size but I understand he's not that impressive :D

LOL what expectations? I commented how amazingly hot he's started in his first 11 games. I gave no expected stat lines or hopes for his future performance. I congratulated him on doing something that no other Dodger has done.

Can we get rid of Ryu yet? He's either hurt or stinking up the place. Stick him in the bullpen at the very least.

Yeah when his contract is over I have a feeling he'll be heading back home. It's a shame in the rare instances when he's actually healthy he's good. But the fact is he's too injury prone and our system is stock full of pitchers. When the contract is up I'd be shocked if he sticks around. BTW you see Hill will be coming back and heading to the bullpen? Woods has been too good to demote and it looks like Urias is staying even with his rough start today.

As for the Cardinals, Magneuris Sierra has provided a huge spark to this team with his speed and defense. He's only twenty-one. We're on an absolute tear, and we're comfortably in the lead of our division. Waino pitched a seven inning shutout, and Yadi hit two homers on Mother's Day, so we took the series against the hated Cubs.

Indeed the universal forces of good are again in alignment! Sierra has been quite the pleasant surprise. Should he develop some power at the plate and an acumen for base stealing then dare we dream of another Lou Brockish Cardinal? I am so drooling.

And Pham! Wow!

So happy for Waino. I hope he can continue to contribute well.

Tonight against the BOSox I hope the Cardinals can keep the Big MO rolling!
