A week from today we will see the new season underway. I saw a statistic yesterday that puts the current state of the sport in perspective. The RedSox AAA team will have a higher payroll than the San Diego Padres. Pretty pathetic for both teams.

As for my boys in blue like other teams it all comes down to health. It's amazing, and speaks to Roberts leadership, that they won as many games as they did by setting two ominous records. First the had the most days on the DL in the modern game. Secondly they were the first team to ever start a rookie pitcher six games in a row. I really think with adding Forsythe and retaining Turner and Jansen they have a shot to unseat the Cubs.

What's the outlook for your teams?

First off.....Not cool take a shot a the Red Sox lol. Secondly, Clayton Kershaw's salary is twice that of the Padres roster.
But in reality the Padres are a joke and they choose not to spend. Their attendance jumped 12% when they went out and got guys like Kimbrell, Kemp, Shields and Upton. Padre fans will support them if they just try. Most teams or 85% of the teams spend between 85M and 150M. The Padres are at 18M.....thats silly wrong.

Payrolls are whacked in MLB, but the Padres are making a mockery out of it. It should also be noted that SD owns 20% of a 1.2B dollar TV contract so everyone in SD can watch the games. They are getting approx 30M per year in additional revenue plus revenue sharing.

Anyway......Go Sox! lol.

Phillies ! Just like going to the games. Citizens Bank Park is a great stadium. I can get $ 23 1st level seats through work for about 3 to 4 games a month for the season. Looking forward to it. It just sucks that the Mayor of Philadelphia but a 1.5oz tax on sugary beverages in the city, don't get me started, the guy is crazy.
Can't wait for the weather to brake here in the north east.

It's all about the PIRATES! RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!! The Pirates looked pretty good down in Florida but that always worries me. It does speak well for what they have in young players coming up through the system though. I have to make a home game this upcoming season but I live in Georgia so...................

Im a Giants fan. Im a LA fan in every other sport but baseball (Rams/Lakers/UCLA/Galaxy). Funny thing is my father is a Dodgers fan so we went to games together with different gear on which was always quite funny. I grew up learning to love his teams except in baseball i branched off to the Giants moving from SoCal to NorCal at like 13 I was exposed to the Giants on tv etc. Been a Giants fan since the Will Clark and Matt Williams days .My father still likes to tease me with baby pictures of me in Dodger gear haha. In b4 Dodger fans come for me .

I generally follow the Cardinals, but I must be honest...

Baseball and Hockey have a hard time drawing me in, with any degree of passion, anyway. Although regular season games are enjoyable, they lack significant meaning to me.

Sometimes that's good, I suppose. My team can lose a game and I am quickly "over it".

With football; every game has a consequence. Either good or bad.

Maybe the NFL ruined my perspective on other sports?

All that said... I do enjoy having a baseball game on radio/TV during a summer BBQ.

As it relates to the Cardinals; their lack of offensive firepower the last few seasons has been frustrating. Maybe ITS ME that is killing all of my team's ability to score??

I definitely know what you mean. If I was living in St. Louis or the midwest I'm sure I'd be following Cardinals baseball very closely as in every game on the radio in the background while working on something else close. Where I live I'm out of the Cardinals radio affiliates territory so I can only get them on KMOX at night, usually from the 7th inning or later. At least I've got KMOX. For the 5 or so years they were on KTRS I only listened when they were on another teams clear channel station. My point being I survived. So now I really don't pay much attention until after the All Star break other than catching a few games in Cincinnati or Atlanta in the beginning of the season and towards the end of the season. They have had a good amount of games shown free on the MLB pass that my TV gets which is nice. I don't view the games as insignificant but do really enjoy the last six weeks of the season for the pennant chase or wild card.

Injuries or loss to free agency for the pitching staff is what seems to be my perennial frustration.

Hockey lost a lot of its appeal for me when they mandated the players wearing helmets. Sounds weird but that really made the game less interesting for me. The playoff structure has made the regular season hockey games less significant since so many teams make the playoffs.

Crushing loss for the Giants on opening day. The same thing that plagued them last season (closing games) came back to bite them in the ass again. We grab a all star closer in Melancon in the offseason and he blows his 1st save. Im convinced Brian Wilson cursed us with some bad juju after we got rid of him lol. On a side note, Bumgarner is the best hitting pitcher in baseball (2 HRs today). Dude can mash a baseball.

You guys might not like this but it is looking good for Yasiel Puig :D

Granted it's vs the Padres so far but he's swinging a sweet bat.
