He just can't stay healthy. I bet this is his last season in LA
The man is going to make about a half a million dollars a game this year being semi injured.
I truthfully thought he might be a surprise cut or trade after a restructure.
But a restructure minimum.

We need Barron in the lineup he is the veteran leader of this LB'ing core! If you review last season injury list, Barron was listed on it for the entire season. So this is not new for Barron.

Wades three top OLB'ers{Ebukam-Longacre-Easley}, were not the teams starters last season @ OLB'er. Plus Wade has a MLB'er who is getting his first regular season start @ MLB in Cory Littleton. The Ram Org. must of had concerns since last season too & very early signed young veteran Ramik Wilson on 3/22/18 as insurance. During his 3 season in KC Wilson played in 30 gms & started 17 playing in KC's 34 D in the same position as Barron.

I have had questions about Barron injuries for some time. We were aware of his shoulder and Achilles that had demisished performances late last season & in the playoff game. I still have remaining concerns over the run defense in the middle, but Barron's back up Wilson pass history is far better against the run than in the pass so that helps to ease my concerns...some.

The below article by Cameron DaSilva on August 21, 2018, indicates Barron had Achilles surgery this offseason.DaSilva thinks that the issue now was the lingering recovery from his Achilles.

Wouldn't mind seeing Kiser get his shot. Smart kid, great tacking technique ... future starter anyway.

If I were to look into the Rams future one year from now....I would expect that Micah Kiser starting @ MLB'er & Cory Littleton slid over in the Mark Barron & Ramik Wilson's ILB'er position.

SOLB-Ebukam
MLB- Kiser
WILB- Littleton
WOLB- Okoronkwo

Snead will have 3 ILB'ers & 2 OLB'er entering Free Agency in March of 2019. Only Littleton will be a RFA.

Actually its a shame they could not have moved him and kept Quinn.. I know Quinn did have about a $4M higher cap number, but definitely could have used his pass rush

Getting tired of his inability to practice and now play again...can't help the continuity of this defense and it will cost them early.

Let’s be honest, he’s not a huge upgrade over Wilson at this point.

People talk crap about Ogletree in the run game, but Barron was just as bad.

Actually Barron was rated one of the better lbs against the run last season. Look it up .

Barron has played without practice. Rams have been quiet about his injuries. Hope he plays. If not, Wilson is the next man up. I think Kiser needs at least half the season before he is ready to start. Disconcerting not having Barron play. Wade likes him a lot. Plays pass better than run but still best Rams option at ILBer.

I don't think we have seen the last of release 7th round selction ILB Travin Howard yet. My thoughts that once he is heathty.... he will be signed back later this fall to the Practice Squad to serve this team in the future. Presently the Rams do not have any LB'er on the PS.

I believe that Wade feels that a healthy Barron is the perfect starting weakside interior LB for his Defense. When Wade moves fast to his preferred NIckle....Barron's value becomes even more vital to Wade. With only 2 LB'ers behind the DL Barron is outstanding on reading routes, making plays on the ball with great instincts. He is also a proven sure tackler who can cover like a playmaking safety. He has lined up & played WSLB/SSLB/ILB/SS/FS & CB....that says something of his great versitily.

Ramik Wilson can hold his own in the Rams 34 D but when Wade moves to the Nickle Wilson becomes a liability. So we just see Wade remain in the base 34 D longer than usual if Barron is out. I would look for Wade to use a 4-1-6 Dime with Littleton as the only LB & utilize his four excellent Corners in place of Wilson .....

I believe Barron was rated at having the top measured on field speed at his position by one of the technical reports that clocked players from game video.

The answer is Ramik Wilson and it's not close dudes. Wilson played great during preseason in place of Barron, was probably one of our best backers.

Kiser is depth on the interior strong side and while he's gotten better in his drops doesn't compare to Ramik in terms of being able to execute the scheme IMO. Also I think Wilson will go down as one of the better "underrated" signings this offseason; wasn't a fan at the time but the dude fits really nice.

Yeah.... not true. Barron is a very sure tackler and has the speed to play the pass. He also has a very good football brain. There’s a reason Wade loves the guy. He simply makes the defense better.

Hopefully if he can’t play, whoever fills in gives us near his kind of production. But we are a better team with Barron in there.

Well, if Barron is not 100%, then he should sit until he is 100%.

But I will say this.

There is little doubt that Gruden will be attacking our LB corps. He would have, anyway, because there aren’t that many chinks in this D, anymore. ‘Course, Wade knows that and will be scheming accordingly.

Should be quite a chess match.

It's the NFL. It's rare that players are ever truly 100% once the season begins.

The questions are will Barron be more effective than the alternative, and is he likely to make himself worse playing now, rather than wait a week or two and be less likely to make it worse?

Barron Run Stop % at ILB was very high according to PFF. I always though Ogletree was the weak link on the interior.

Never got the disdain for Barrón the last few offseasons. Guy produces and produces well at that.

With that being said I think after this season he is most likely a cap casualty due to money saved by cutting him. We have some nice cheaper younger options that hopefully step up by then.
