No. It was just called one by an over officious crew. It 1000000% was NOT a crackback as you stated it was.

then why is it ALWAYS called?

sony was coming back to where the ball was snapped and the defender was running away from where the ball was snapped.

i don't understand what all of you are seeing that hasn't been flagged umpteen times before.

Maybe it was because Sony's helmet did glance off the defender's helmet
I think the officiating crew was wearing Raven Underoos under their zebra stripes….

The rule from the NFL is posted earlier in the thread. It was a crackback but only in the very strictest sense. He was heading back toward where the ball was snapped (sort of) and some part of his helmet touched the player (barely). That's all it takes to be a crackback block and a 15 yard penalty

Maybe I am missing something. Michel was running AWAY from the LOS, diagonally towards the RAVEN'S goal. He was NOT running towards the LOS and/or towards the RAMS goal. What am I missing? Are you saying that the rule states that a blocker can not be moving east/west/diagonally AWAY towards where the ball was snapped? I cannot imagine that to be true, or every block would be a penalty almost.

I guess it's not really worth arguing, as the Rams won the game. If they had lost, there would be more discussion about that BS for sure.....maybe not as much as how bad Stafford is, but plenty.

I am in complete agreement. I posted that screen cap for a reason and it seems to be overlooked.

Darnit, I forgot to credit you with that! Yeah, I can only imagine they called it helmet to helmet or something, but the refs never really cleared anything up. Oh well, water under the bridge....

not looking for credit my brother.

I took a few more screen caps after that to show that their helmets never even touched.

If the guy doesn’t get knocked on his ass, they probably don’t throw the flag.

Like you said, water under the bridge.

Is there a video clip of it? I could go find the game somewhere but I'm super lazy. Anyway, going just of the screenshot, he may have planted off that front foot and drive backwards just the one step into the defender. But I think they are way more strict with the interpretation of the rule and more sensitive about it in order to avoid hits like Burfict took (although he deserved it). Unlike holding where they are super loose with the definition specifically because they wrote a shitty rule that is super dumb.

I posted the actual rule a little earlier in the thread. Actually you totally can hit them, looking or not. It's hitting them in the head, below the waist, or with your head that's a problem.
Per the rule, these seem to be more what was called. Technically it was a bad call anyway as the block occurred 6 yards downfield. The rule states within 5 yards of the LOS and both conditions in this case have to apply. I didn't like the call but I've definitely seen this crew of ass hats make worse calls.

"...by an offensive player who is moving toward the position from which the ball was snapped."

"...the offensive player was in a backfield position when the ball was snapped and moved to a position more than two yards outside an offensive tackle"

What's funny here is I'll bet that if Hendy had made that block no call would have been made. Because he wouldn't decleat the sumbish. Just so happens Michel is a big physical MFer and you really feel when he contacts dudes.

Once again the big thing here for me isn't calling that, but the moment in which it was called. That was at the time a really tough call against the Rams. There are just moments in games where you should only call obvious fouls IMO. Some crews sort of get that, others do not. Vinobitch definitely doesn't get that, he'll sperg you in the ass with a nitpicky call when the game's on the line.

Same thing with Boger btw. So we're gonna have to truck the 9ers and overcome his stupid fucking decision making this weekend.

Vinobitch would not have called a flag on any other team except the Rams

For some reason, he hates the Rams and will call any possible foul on them.

I am really surprised he didn't call a foul on Donald at the end of the game for a personal foul

I think if Hendy made a block like that he’d probably disintegrate right there on the field.
