Yep, heard the same. And Mayfield gets points with the locker room because he's the one speaking up and taking the heat for it. His teammates will notice and appreciate that.

That's a good point, it's evident that he is the teams leader now.

Baker is what he is, and everyone knew that even when he got drafted. He's far from politically correct and either doesn't know or doesn't care to say all the right things like a Goff or a McVay. He'll have that chip on his shoulder for his entire career and the media will love to talk about him because of it, kind of like a Marcus Peters.

I do think he's a good QB though, but he'll be a controversial figure as long as he's in the league.
Marcus Peters certainly is "likes to fight" guy, that's for sure! Many interviews are edgy (get that mic out of my face bro......you feeling me..........etc..). Baker M doesn't have the swag of Peters yet, but he may get there.

We want to win our last two games," the rookie quarterback said after Wednesday's practice. "Any guys on this team that don't want to do that ... they need to get out."

What do you mean by 'really uneasy about Mayfield'? The guy seems to have 'it' and I like to watch him play.

This may be just me, but I don't buy this "Young Guy" argument. He is an adult that is a professional. Good lord, you can fight in a war at 18, if you can't act like an adult at 18, I have no sympathy for you. I know that is not what you are saying, @Juice. I just hear this all the time about people that are anywhere from 18-28 ish. Those are not Kids, they are adults, and should act like it and be treated like it.

OK, sorry, had to get my old man moment of the day out of the way...

Here is my take:
Hue Jackson stinks as a coach, between their talent vs. record under him and watching him on Hard Knocks, I think most will agree. He is lost as a head coach.

Baker Mayfield hasn't proven anything in this league. He has stated a hand full of games. DCs don't even have a season of tape on him. Anything a QB does in his first 10-16 starts is irrelevant as far as their ability/potential/what they will turn into. I have seen so many guys hyped up after a few good starts, but once the league adjusts to their game, they never look as good. Christ, if you watched his first game and listened to the announcers, you would have thought that Nick Mullens was Dan Marino reincarnated.

Mayfield has had some ups and downs, as you would expect from a rookie QB, but again, he hasn't done anything in the league yet. I am not a fan of either guy, but in my opinion Mayfield should cut this kind of crap out and act like the bigger man and act like a leader. If he thought Jackson was the worst coach to ever have the job, so be it, he is gone, move forward. This doesn't do anything positive for anybody involved, and is just a "Look at me" type team distraction.

Mayfield may turn into a great Quarterback in time, or he may join the pile of overhyped QBs the likes of Kappernick, RGIII, Winston, Tebow, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. But even if he turns into a combination of Brady, Marino, and Manning, you still don't do this crap.

P.S. Hue Jackson stinks, and doesn't really have any room to talk about anyone.

I have to disagree there. Legally we become adults at 18, but in terms of maturity, people often don't "grow up" until closer to 30. It's funny that you cited 18-28 because that's pretty much the exact age range that I believe are still basically kids.

And how could anyone be expected to grow up when you're not anywhere near the real world until 18 (or 20-24 if you go to college)?

Once people start living their adult life, that does not make them mature enough to call themselves adults IMO. It's the primary reason you see so many people get divorced when they married at a young age - you aren't mature enough, and you don't know yourself well enough yet.

As for Baker, I have no problem with him.

People change so much in their 20's, or even in your range of 18-28. What you start out as at the age of 18-20 is a far cry from what you are when you are 28-30 fr most people. IMO it's one of the reasons why the divorce rate is so high in the US.

It's probably the part of most peoples life where they change the most.

I don't think that is how a young face of the franchise should act. You have to earn your way into being an asshole. That said, Hue is not a head coach, probably will never be one again. Some guys are great coordinators, and will never be good head coaches.

I’m not enamoured with what I’ve seen.

He may turn out just fine, become a top guy... but as you say, it’s really really early.

I haven't really watched a lot of the Browns games. But from what I've seen he's made passes as pretty as some of Goff's beauties. I think he has top 10 potential, maybe more.

That's going to come down to how the Browns' GM stacks that coaching staff. If they lock up a guy who can run the offense and bring the kid QB up the right way Mayfield has every opportunity to be an elite QB. He's wired the right way when it comes to the things you want at the position IMO.

Oh and btw I am enjoying what Williams is doing as HC there. I've always felt like Williams' oldschool attitude would play well as a head coach, happy for the dude and think he's a better HC type than coordinator. That said I wouldn't hire him next year as I'd be after a HC who can ensure my young QB gets the best coaching possible just like the Rams did with Goff.

He’s looked better his rookie year than Goff did during his. Goff showed nothing. Now Goff is a top QB in the league. To say you don’t see the potential in Mayfield means you’re not paying attention. That or you blocked our Fisherball, which is completely acceptable.

To borrow from Pete Carroll, what’s his deal? Hue is gone, they’ve won more than the past 2 years combined, the arrow is pointing up. So why is he still salty at Jackson? Staring him down on the sideline, c’mon man you won. He reminds me of the high school qb who everybody thinks is a tool but he’s the best guy they got.

Mayfield is insanely talented, but he rubs me the wrong way with his personality. Still, if he keeps winning, Browns fans will view him as the next messiah.

I've watched some Browns games strangely enough. I see Mayfield as having Goff potential.

I consider Goff one of the most accurate passers in the NFL and Mayfield throws these same type of mid to deep passes with uncanny accuracy.

Mayfield also has that quick read mind and feet that Goff has in the pocket.

I expect Mayfiled to be a top 10 QB next year if he has a good surrounding cast.

He throws on the run really well too.
