Starting to think this is a strategy of this organization. Two 3rd round picks is pretty good draft capital to keep getting. And, of course, if this leads to him getting hired as a HC, the Rams would get two more 3rd round comp. picks, which would be a…pleasant side benefit.
Washington falling apart under that coaching staff in 2013 (which included McVay as TE coach as well as Raheem Morris, Aubrey Pleasant, Mike McDaniel, Kyle Shanahan, Bobby Slowik, and Matt LaFleur), directly led to us getting the #2 overall pick the following year since we owned it from the RG3 trade. That pick netted us Greg Robinson, but it probably also led to us drafting Aaron Donald later in the first round. While it's possible we may have still selected Donald, you never know. They drafted Robinson over Donald earlier, so it's plausible to think they would have grabbed someone like Zack Martin at pick #13 over Donald too. It's funny how Washington was never successful, but that coaching lineage has become the most widespread and dominant in the league.
I’m guessing it was a personality, coaching style clash. Coach Kneecap seems to be a bit of a departure from McVay’s style.I really need to know about the Pleasant/Lions story.
I wasn't happy when he left for Detroit but I understood it as he was trying to be close to family.
But then Detroit scapegoated him with their defensive struggles - they actually improved when he left too.
I was happy to see him back with Rams but I am really curious about what went down in Detroit.
I wonder if I cashed out my 401 if I could get her to say that to me while decked out in nothing but blood red stiletto heels……..
Too many cooks spoil the broth? It's funny how Washington was never successful, but that coaching lineage has become the most widespread and dominant in the league.
lol…..and an evil grin……I wonder if I cashed out my 401 if I could get her to say that to me while decked out in nothing but blood red stiletto heels……..
That’s why they double dipped at CB. Arnold is an elite prospect and Rakestraw could be very good, too. There isn’t a lot of talent to work with in this secondary
Detroit has certainly focused on its secondary since the above was written in 2022.Why the Lions’ secondary has struggled this season
This is where this gets interesting. The Lions lost starting safety and captain Tracy Walker to a season-ending injury in September. Detroit has not spent any Day 1 or 2 picks on a CB since taking Okudah in 2020. The Lions also haven’t signed any veteran to anything beyond one-year tryouts, other than extending Walker. One could point to coaching. One could also easily point to a massive lack of talent on the roster. – Baumgardner
Take your pick. There isn’t a lot of talent to work with in this secondary. There’s Okudah and then a whole bunch of guys who probably wouldn’t start for other NFL defenses. At the same time, there have been instances where Lions’ defensive backs have looked lost on the field. Clearly, Campbell thinks the communication needs to improve. – Pouncy
Lions fire DB coach Aubrey Pleasant
The Lions are 1-6 this season and have lost five straight games.www.nytimes.com
