So improvement with experience only counts for Olineman? His last three years look pretty damn good. Maybe he had a coach or specialist work on a mechanical change.

The Rams look like legitimate contenders. I'm not saying Sloman will have a bad career. I'm saying with a contender its better to rely on a vet with some recently successful years, than an unproven rookie.

I think letting Zuerlein go had as much to do with inconsistency as it did with health. He wide rights became more commonplace.

Kickers are volatile. Improvement can reverse itself in an instance. We're already strapped for picks. The cap is almost certainly decreasing after this year. The last thing we need to do is trade a pick (especially for a Kicker). If they're that concerned about Sloman, go sign Chandler Catanzaro or Kai Forbath or Aldrick Rosas or one of the other veterans off the street. After all, it's only a temporary move. After the season, they can just draft another Kicker (Florida's Kicker, Evan McPherson, is incredible).

Suddenly this trade is sounding even better to me.
