Not going to name any names...but overly negative posters decay the value of their own words.

It does not garnish respect ..in fact does the opposite.
I have no issue with profanity on here and this may be a bit off topic but I think the ones who feel the need to insert some version of “fuck” a half dozen times in a single post in an effort to appear tough/cool achieve the same effect.

We haven’t stepped in unless someone broke the rules and we’ve even let a fair amount of bending of the rules happen in that thread. And yet how long has that thread been running?
You know what you are getting into when you enter the GDT. It is a real time thereapy session and some of the people are more excessive in their expression. Whether cathartic or visceral it is the releases that makes sense at the moment for a specific personality type. Some release, some hold it in and every possible stop along the way is in play.

It's pretty innocent usually and I am glad ROD provides the therapy session free of charge.

It will never be a logical fit for all at all times due to human espression being too diverse, what makes sense to one is illogical to another without reflection.

It is real time emotional party

I am glad you all allow the lattitude you do or some of that would likely flow over into other threads (even more)

I doubt many would read their comments in there and a week later say yep, thats exactly how I feel today

I've actually never used the ignore button on this forum, but maybe that's the way forward.
I think it needs to be a last resort. People say dumb shit as a one off all the time - I often lead that charge. But when someone is just always a troll, nothing is to be gained by giving them any headspace at all. There aren’t very many people on this forum who need the old ignore button - but the number is unfortunately nonzero.

Its LA fans who have bought in I think (well bought in enough to be on this forum and talking about the Rams online in general). You have to remember.....fans in most places don't care unless the team is winning. Think about how many members on this forum and even others....how many of those fans actually live in California, and then how many of them actually attend games?

All pro sports teams rely heavily on bandwagon fans. Just the truth. Attending games becomes 'a thing to do'....and then in LA, if you aren't a great team, people will find something else to do. Again, just the reality.

So most fans of most teams aren't going to tolerate much losing. I live in Ohio and used to be a huge Cavs fan. Basketball was my first love....now I only watch when they're playing well. I go to one game a year - if they are playing well.

Now imagine a fan like that slowly becoming a diehard because the recent success has been pretty sustained. You can see how you end up with some VERY emotional swings. I think I've only ever ventured into the GDT here three times and I've been a member here for longer than I can remember. To each their own, but when the game is on, I will usually stay tuned in and avoid forums.

Honestly? I've been a fan since '99, and sometimes...sometimes we do need that perspective.

It's okay to be angry and walk away, I've been there myself, but it crosses the line when there are actual insults levied against the players, coaches, management, that sort of stuff. That's exactly the reason why this forum was founded, why I've been here and nowhere else for almost sixteen years; this is a place for the homer, for the drunk-on-positivity people who think we're going to win it all every year, and where negativity hiding behind the mask of "realism" was quickly called out.

I'm glad UK made this thread because there is literally no other coach, GM, or owner I would rather have than the ones we have. We can and have done so much worse. There are fans of other teams who would commit mass murder for what we have.

And while I do appreciate the responses that say to not go into the GameDay Thread (I only skim and rarely ever post.) to avoid the things that posters have every right to express...maybe we should look through a different lens? Imagine being a fan of the Browns or the Jets. Imagine being a fan of a team that never wins, that has never had what we have.

Most of the time in St. Louis was losing season after losing season, and only the diehards stuck with them. We've had a lot of success, and I know how quickly that can change to failure from personal experience with each of my teams (St. Louis Cardinals, Blues, Mizzou).

So, yes, I appreciate what UK is saying in terms of perspective.

I agree somewhat..it see the GDT thread as more full of irrational emotional response.

The reason its difficult to label as entitlement is because when we sucked the threads were just as tixic.
I just find the "were not a Super Bowl Team" or "we are one and done" a bit odd.... But it's only a few that do that and eventually they comeback off the ledge. lol.... There are other Rams forums where the Mods and their little cult followers just completely dive off a mountain..... friggin hilarious.:laugh2:

Are college football threads constant "ra ra ra" BS? I don't care for college football so I've never engaged with fans of it.
It's just like game threads here. When things are going well, sky high. When things have any sense of down, it's all over! My favorite posts on all sites are guys claiming the game is over based on the feeling in the 3rd quarter with 4 minutes left.

This season is odd because the Rams have been in every single game. Truth be told, if not for special teams, the only games we lose are probably Carolina and Atlanta. Being 15-2 right now would completely change the tone of this forum.
