I've had over a dozen times in the last 24 hours when I've thought, "Holy crap, I can't quite believe the Rams won the freaking Super Bowl!!!"

In '99, I truly believed all year they were the best team in the NFL. The GSOT was undoubtedly a team of destiny.

But this year.... man, what a freaking roller coaster ride. How did we survive that awful 3 game losing streak?!! And that absolutely crazy horrifying comeback by Tampa? And that EXCRUCIATING game for the NFC title? And that Super Bowl... so close I couldn't bear it!!

I mean....

IS THIS REAL LIFE?!?!?!? :laugh1::explode1:

I’m not getting fooled by this crazy dream.

I remember in High School I dreamt Pink Floyd was staying at our house during The Wall tour, and was crushed when I was riding my bike to school and realized it was a dream.

I won’t get fooled again.

Yeah, the Greatest Show On Surf has had to scratch, crawl, pry and pull off a Superbowl championship the hard way... it makes their final achievement feel all the more incredible... when adding in all of the things that had to go right, that had to go wrong, the unlikely outcomes...

.

i don't think i got nervous once in the playoffs.

confused and dumbfounded in the bucs game, sure. but stafford torched them the whole game and i was supremely confident in him and kupp getting it done.

willing them on in the conference championship and superbowl. knowing stafford and kupp could make the plays when needed.

from early on in the season it was obvious that the rams would not lose a single game if stafford was playing well. he lost the plot a little in the middle section of the superbowl but as always when the pressure was the greatest to get it done he was the absolute fucking boss.

this trade will go down as the best in rams history, maybe. the faulk one was pretty good as well.

I would have been in disbelief if we lost. Felt we were the better team. Seeing OBJ get injured like that and then the offense go into a shell would have been a tough way to lose. Glad we won. I was so nervous during the entirety of the second half.

I knew from TC this was a championship caliber roster so in complete honesty, I am not surprised in the least. Happy, elated absolutely but not surprised. I knew if Morris would simply quit playing his soft defense they could dominate games. I knew they had a championship-caliber receiving corps as well.

Staley proved just how good this defense was if played properly. He played his defense like McVay plays his offense with lots of deception to cause confusion. Morris tends to play his defense more conventionally. During the regular season, Morris' defense was strictly middle of the road ranking between 16-18. But after he came off his soft defense foolishness his playoff defense, played aggressively has been ranked by some as being the #2 unit in the playoffs.

If he continues to play the defense in the same manner as he did during the playoffs I will have no problem with him. Adjustments he made during the playoffs showed how good not only the players were but how good Morris can be when he wants to be. One adjustment stood out. He showed a 5 man DL but only rushed 4. The 5th man forced the Bungle OL to assume a man blocking call freeing up AD and Miller. He adopted a new attitude. He dropped the idiotic bend not break philosophy to begin playing a style that challenged the offense to beat the Ram D.

Once I saw him do that against the Cards I knew they would likely win it all. It's why when I looked at the different scenarios, I knew that a Super Bowl matchup against the Bungles would be a lock to be a win.

When you really look at the game, the only reason the Rams didn't blow the Bungles out were injuries. Had the Rams been at full strength with OBJ, Higbee, Woods, Fuller and Rochell, the Rams would have won this going away. With OBJ for a full game, it wouldn't even have been close. They had no answer for OBJ and Kupp. Their DL is strong vs the run but mediocre as pass rushers. Their safeties are good but their CBs suck. That's why I personally don't see them getting past the divisional round at best for the next several years. By that time their roster will be completely turned over and who knows if it will be better or worse.

Takeaway the bogus Higgins TD (which would have given them a 1st and 25 yds instead of a TD) and they only scored 13 points.

The Rams didn't play a clean game yet they still beat them with one receiver, a 4th TE, and an un-retired SS. When you do an actual breakdown of the game, you can't see what the media was raving about. Burrows is good but Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, and Herbert are as good or better. No, the Rams dodge a huge bullet with this matchup considering their injury state. Against any other team, the Rams probably lose the minute OBJ goes down.

So no I'm not surprised the Rams won.

You are right, it wasn't Pink Floyd who stayed over, turns out it was The Who.

Super Bowl XXXIV, my opinion, was just as nerve racking, and maybe more.

We blew the Vikes out handily in the divisional. But, then came the Big Bad Tampa Boys lead by the vicious (but likeable player) Warren Sapp. This game was a dog fight. The GSOT had what, 5 points with minutes to go, down by 1 point. Nothing working all day for the offense. Then, the incredible catch by Proehl, but Tampa drive the field after that only to be stopped. That was nerve racking beyond belief.

Then, the Super Bowl and final drive by the Titans. That was just excruciating. Every play on that drive was just insane, culminating in the final tackle, with the Titans just one lousy yard from tying up the game.

This year's playoffs and Super Bowl absolutely had its moments, but I'll still take the '99 Rams NFC Championship and Super Bowl as the most nerve racking games I've ever watched...ever!

Yeah I think all of us felt the same way, did the Rams have one more drive in them and who was going to step up besides Cooper Kupp and low and behold it was Brycen Hopkins. Many can post what they want about Hopkins, but he did not shrink in the moment made some huge catches and threw and excellent block on Kupp's 4 & 1 Play. I will never forget the Hopkins contribution.

Despite some of the doom and gloom that emanated from this board, This was a very good team all year. They ended up 19-5, and only lost to 4 teams all year (Arizona, Tennessee, San Fran, & Green Bay), all of which were playoff teams. They avenged 3 of those losses in the playoffs. Pretty amazing when you consider the adversity they faced this year. Including the starters missing in the SB (especially in the 2nd Half).
This was McVey's Finest Coaching job. And one of the all time great drives in Super Bowl History to win it. What a year!!!

Yes, still sinking in. @oldnotdead you got it right, a few healthy players, particularly OBJ, and it's not close. If it's 20-10 at the half or 23-10, Burrow comes out slinging & our DL/OLB's pin their ears back = INT's.
So, that makes it feel a bit more credible to me that we won, and that we had to have a 4th Q "the drive" by Stafford/Kupp/Hopkins to win it all.
But by the time the Rams were up 23-20, the BenGals had nothing left & our D would put the nails in the coffin somehow.
