I hope he gets 2-3 sacks, and some big splash plays. I hope he has people saying "Aaron who?" Glad he is getting his opportunity, I hope he does his best with it.

1st NFL game, I'm not going to put that on him. In the interest of winning the game, he just has to hold his own as a run defender. I'll take any pass rush he can get as a bonus.

I hope he does well because he looked good in preseason and if he plays well it helps the Rams out. The season hasn't started yet, but it looks like this years draft is going to be good.

Great Kid and I too hope Smart has an impact and the Rams win the game as we all grow tired of #99.

No offence, but do you expect people to come in here and say no? Obviously we all want him to tear it up.

I wouldn't expect anyone to say no, but it's the reasoning for me. I hope he makes us forget about the player holding out. If he comes in and has an awesome game, it gives us that much more leverage.

As much as it sucks and it's for all the wrong reasons, Smart is next man up.
Of course I want him to succeed.
His success can only make Aaron's position more difficult. Who knows, maybe the Rams will learn that breaking the bank on Donald (regardless of how good he is) will leave too little to spend on others and that it may be better to play it with him one year at a time, as they still have 4 full years of his rights. (maybe 3 and a half years if he comes back after 8 this year).

It's obvious, we all want our "D" to really shine in this game for several reasons:
1) We want our team to Win Big!
2) We want everyone to say " I guess the Rams don't really need Aaron Donald for them to Dominate!"
3) We want Donald to say to himself " Maybe I better show-up, and see IF I can still get a spot on the Roster!
4) WINNING ISN'T EVERYTHING, ... IT'S THE ONLY THING!!

I would love to see him have a good game. When I saw his name number one on the depth chart. My first thought was Frank Gore better not have a highway to that side of the line.

Not saying Smart isn't a good player. Just a rookie in his first ever game.

I hope he has a great game, it would be good for his confidence if he has a sack / pressure on Tolzien. I hope he holds his own, doesn't get over taken by the occasion, because we need our 2nd their guys to be game ready - anything can happen in this sport!

2-3 sacks? Good thing we aren't setting the bar very high, because every DT does that!
Lol!

This kid can play. I was at the game when Tennessee played Tulane and believe me I never forgot this kid's name after that game, he was dominate.

Just for the reasons others have said.
Because it helps the team.
But, really, for a rookie that would mean playing his spot, maintaining responsibility and not getting blown off the ball.
I know one thing, if I'm the Colts, Inam running something's right at him early.
He just needs to play well for himself and establish himself as part of the rotation.
He isent going to replace Donald.

I hope so because the Rams D sure as hell didn't get much of a pass rush in pre season. Barron and Quinn didn't take one snap, Donald is still a no show, and Barwin played just sparingly. All the Rams D starters have yet to take one snap together against another team. Not a good projection for coming out of the gate ready to play IMHO.

I hope they do well, but I expect mistakes in coverage and some big runs given up. (Webster and Tru haven't played together), Joyner looked bad in pre season.

Just sayin, don't get your hopes up. This Rams D is not in tune yet.

Would love to see that ... just hope in 3 years he's not back expecting to be paid not just as the highest paid defender in the NFL, but sitting at home holding out/moping because the margin by which he's the highest paid isn't large enough.

We're talkin AD....Aaron Donald....Have yall forgotten who he is and how he plays? And you want a rookie to come close to replacing him?

I didn't want Dan Orlovsky to succeed, just for the record.
