I don't know what Bosa and Rosen said to the media that were strong political commentary, but they have the right to their opinions. This is America.

You're speaking for yourself about players keeping their opinions private, and just so you know most fans disagree with you. Most fans are OK with players expressing opinions on a wide variety of issues, political and social as well as opinions on other sports, other players, ownership and tons of other things. It's only one facet of each human, each American, of many.

Athletes are people, and they have a platform to deliver a message about their thoughts, which as Americans they are entitled to express, about anything. Wine, politics, clothing, movies, culture, the weather and anything else.

They have the EXACT same rights you and I possess. Preferring that they don't use them in order to please you is an incredibly ignorant and arrogant position to take.

This is like judging someone for the genre of music that they enjoy.
I normally stay away from posts like this but this particular issue strikes a chord with me. While I 100% agree every American has the right too speak their mind, I personally don't want to hear it when spending my entertainment dollars. Use the proper outlets. Entertainers and pro athletes who are politically vocal, specifically using their notoriety and fame to further their agendas, are a huge turn off for me. If I want to hear politics, political opinions, or talks on serious issues I'll watch the news or use media focused on those subjects. A great example for me... Pearl Jam. Absolutely LOVED them...till Eddie Vedder started doing political speeches at PJ shows. Of course the current sports example is Kaepernick actually bringing politics on to the playing field.

Do they have the RIGHT to say what they want? Hell yes! Do I have the RIGHT to choose where I spend my entertainment dollar and what the content of my entertainment is? Hell yes! Does it make me Ignorant or arrogant? I sure don't think so!!!!!

However it's their choice to talk, not yours to let them talk. They have the right, and of course you have the right not to like it and they nor anyone else cannot take that right away from you.

Though when these people are speaking up it isn't at a time when you are spending any money at all. It's done in interviews, radio appearances and such. Never during a game that I have heard. Not counting the NFL issue which has been addressed and is off limits on this board.

We all have opinions about this topic and one thing each and every one of us should be happy is that we have the right to have our own feelings, thoughts and opinions. As long as those rights are respected by us all everything is fine. And as long as people take the time to remember that all of those rights are shared among us.

The most important part of the entire constitution is the First Amendment and they put if first for a reason. There is nothing that could ever be added that would top that.

Do they have the RIGHT to say what they want? Hell yes! Do I have the RIGHT to choose where I spend my entertainment dollar and what the content of my entertainment is? Hell yes! Does it make me Ignorant or arrogant? freak NO it doesn't!!!!!

And people do that in many ways and not just because some athletes speak up. I won't spend my money on something I don't like either. It would only be ignorant or arrogant to demand that athletes or celebs or anyone for that matter stop voicing an opinion that you didn't like.

By the way..........

I Googled "Josh Rosen controversy" and "Nick Bosa controversy" to look more closely at what was mentioned by @Farr Be It and IMO it's just some dumb interview quotes and tweets. Everyone says dumb shit, or has opinions plenty of people don't like. Just like I have said here they have that right. I'm not even really sure why anyone was so upset with either of them. They both took flak beyond what was fair. But that's typical in our online/social media society.

Though I must say I did take quite a bit of exception to Rosen playing golf on a Trump course with a hat that said Fuck Trump, and even further exception that he had someone take his picture and then he posted it on social media. Many people are going to be offended by a guy wearing a hat with the word fuck on it regardless of any other words on it or not on it. It was low rent, and he should have apologized for it. It seriously lacked maturity and common decency and sense. It wouldn't have stopped me as a GM for drafting him or trading for him though. He did later apologize but that doesn't change the fact it was stupid in the first place.

These are two youngsters who are outspoken and share their opinions, although a little more civility on both of their parts would be helpful. I think that's a facet of how people grow into an identity. I also think that people who are like that are often less entrenched in a belief set than most because they are always willing to engage in conversation about a wide range of issues.

I like opinionated people. I find they listen better because if they didn't care they wouldn't have an opinion in the first place.

All Rosen did was criticize the NCAA. The media put him in a bad light for pointing out how the NCAA is ripping kids off and making millions.
He had a hot tub in his dorm room.
What guy didn’t want a hot tub in his dorm room?
If you read into Rosen, he’s a pretty smart guy.

For all the "issues" he had coming into the NFL, the way he was one and done in Arizona makes me root for him to succeed in Miami. Frankly glad he's out of our division.

Yeah - my issue was he could not take a hit & was a wussy. Then he plays for what his name(Chip Kelly) who doesn’t protect his QB.

Last year he takes over for Bradford who Kelly did no favors in Philly. Josh Rosen has all the skill set coming into UCLA & got beat up last season in the Desert.

All Rosen did was criticize the NCAA.

The most corrupt and vile sports association in the entire country.

And one of the worst in the world.

IOC and FIFA and NCAA are all the worst of the worst.

Besides you, who’s really that upset? Not me. Who’s trying to take away peoples 1st amendment?
Lots of straw men here, Les.

None of this had to be a big deal.

I hope Rosen succeeds in Miami. I really do. They haven't had a true franchise quarterback since Marino, and someone needs to knock off the Cheatriots.

Rosen is a good kid, he was in one of my classes, only blue backpacker (UCLA athlete) that actually gave a shit about learning the topic. Smart guy, not sure why people have issues with him, I can only assume they haven't met him ever.

Me

I hated taking my son out to play golf with my buddies. I realized that every other word out of their mouths on the golf course was freak.

Didn’t bother me as a bunch of adult males playing golf and talking trash to each other but not around my son!

The F bomb is jarring and you would find it hard to accept around your wife or kids, or I do.

Maybe this experience had humbled the kid. He was pretty cocky this time last year. I still have doubts he was the problem. He might have been Fishered with the coaching staff and the personnel around him.

The Cardinals' coaching staff was very likely the worst in the NFL this past season. I'm not sure how much better 2019's is, but it is likely better though not good. Rosen might not be the answer - but many good QBs (Jared Goff, anyone) don't look good under an inept HC. The kid (Murray) the Cardinals drafted, might have a good season or two. But I expect Rosen to have the better career. For which I'm glad. Let him prosper in the AFC East.
