I'd be pretty shocked if McCutcheon didn't make the 53.

Kid has dominated in 2 preseason games, and earned high praise from teammates and coaches.

Adam Thielen was an UDFA who went on to have a great career. McCutchein just looks like he belongs, Rams would be crazy to let him go.

I don’t understand the love I see for Skow. I get it he’s a good special teams player but when he’s actually on the offense he’s not good. He’s not fast/quick and my memory says he dropped a few passes in the few opportunities he’s had. He can go IMO.

He was a rookie so hard to really pin labels on him yet. I'm not saying you're wrong but we have a very limited set of data to go off of and the coaches have a much better feel for him than we do at this point. I'd say he's quicker than he looks... a bit lumbering when he runs but I think that's just cause of his size/proportions. Idk, I'd like to see another year out of him.

I'm not sure what looked worse last season... Skows couple of big drops he had, Harris complete lack of looking like he knows what he's doing on a football field, or Tutu's size issues. All three might be complete busts... all three might have great careers. I'll trust the coaches at this point.

I think it was McCutcheon's slow 40 time why he wasn't drafted. But some guys aren't good at track. We were lucky Kupp was one of those. He woulda gone a lot earlier. McCutcheon looks plenty fast enough in pads. Didn't Jerry Rice run a 4.7 forty time?

I really doubt Trammell would be picked up by another team.

He has looked good against scrubs but if picked up, he has to automatically be put on the 53 by that team.

I think he makes it to the PS.

Kupp was "slow"....Bruce fell for that reason as well. Forty times are massively over rated.
Donald was too short.
I sometimes really believe a whole bunch of NFL folks don't know what they are doing.

You could well be right.
To me he has been, besides McCuthceon, the best receiver we have seen the first two games.
There is stuff he won't do well more than likely.
But, he should be able to get open consistently on the short/intermediate stuff.
I think he gets signed before he hits the PS.......time will tell which of us is right.

Skow is likely garbage and not worth anything. Will be out of the league in 2 years.

Powell is not just a returner, he is a wide receiver and should be considered as such, imo. Bottom of the list, but still.

How is a player who helped us win a Super Bowl his rookie season garbage. He may end up getting squeezed off this roster the way McVay keeps stacking that room, but guys who play hard and line up correctly and make a difference on special teams tend to stick around a while.

Garbage is a bit strong I think. Let's see if he can improve in year two the way many players do.

Eh, hyperbole is not to everyone’s tastes, I agree.

‘in my opinion, Ben Skowronek does not have the ability for a meaningful NFL career. He is likely a fine human being and certainly a great athlete in relation to the population at large. He was successful in college and got drafted and made an NFL roster, was active and produced, all laudable achievements in and of themselves, and more so when taken I. Totality. He very well may surprise me - me being nothing More than a guy shooting the shit online - and have a very good NFL career, in which case I will be very pleased the Rams have found another good player. in the meantime, I continue to think that will not be the cawe and he is what is often crassly referred to as a ‘JAG’, with no offense intended as relates to the aforementioned positives and achievements I. His life.

I guess we'll see.
Powell was a huge factor last year, but there was no competition on the roster.
Kyren Williams looks like he could be legitimate competition at returner and seems like a lock for the roster.

As for Skow? He dropped a couple of balls.
But he also was a hell of a gunner, wasn't lost running routes, and can blow some people up in the run game.
I get the impression the Rams value him and don't think he's garbage. We'll see if he cleans up those drops.

Everyone assuming Powell will be only a returner. McVay has said multiple times this training camp that he's liking what Powell is doing out of the slot and he doesn't consider him JUST a return man. Stafford has also banged the drum for him in the past.

I'm not assuming that at all.

But I'm trying to pay attention to the big picture.

The Rams love them some 11 personnel for flexibility... one of the keys to it is that they can run or pass out of the same personnel grouping.
Powell makes that a little less likely, imo.

With Skow, Van and McCutcheon, you have no idea if it will be a pass or run.

As Jourdan keeps mentioning.. if the Rams want to go to tempo.. they want a group on the field that they can run multiple things with.

I will keep saying.. I love Powell. The Rams don't win the Super Bowl last year without him.

The Rams have a lot of very good receivers. Why risk losing a great return man like Powell in a slot/WR role. JMO.

And I like Benny Skowronek and think he will have a great year. He was a ROOKIE playing in the Super Bowl. Can we give him a year before we cut him? Calling him garbage is disparaging a Ram player. Again IMO.

Coachspeak, Psycho.

Powell ain’t making this team as a 9th WR. No chance.

But Powell is a lock to stick as a returner.

There is a good article regarding the PUP/IR designation in the Athletic.
I will paraphrase the rule as best I can, It has once again been altered for the upcoming season.

A player that lands on the IR can return after 4 games BUT only if the player has been placed on the IR AFTER the cut to 53
A player on the Active/PUP after the cut to 80 will not count against the roster limit once shifted to Reserve/PUP, teams have until rosters are cut down to 53 to move a player to reserve/PUP which is a 4-game Minimum

Sorry for the confusion, this has been gelatinous since the onset of C19
So Lake won't count against the 53 on cut down day, but they have to count Hardy, then IR him and bring someone else back to the roster....of they do decide to IR him.

They can go 8 on the active OL because that's all they have. All teams can stash OL on the PS.
Yeah, I think they go light on OL and stash guys on the PS. If someone gets claimed they can find a comparable guy on the waiver wire.

Anchrum, Jackson, and hopefully Accuri and the rest are PS candidates.

Think you might be right. All 3 of those guys have played LT in the preseason.
Kolone has looked good, but he is just a Center? I think he is a guy The Rams trust to stay in shape & will be ready to go.
Jack Snyder has some upside ,but got blown up badly on one play.He hasn’t put on very good tape. Next season if he stays on the PS will be a nice addition.
-Brewer is a Big Question mark. He is a hard player to judge?

Shelton plays center so you have that in game position filled making it nice to have Kolone or(both) Snyder on the PS.

Funk is the Biggest Question, because he is a hard player to judge. The O’Line hasn’t helped him & with Williams being healthy there is no need for Jake Funk except Special teams
