I don't think Kurt ever lost to the whiners. One more reason I was mad that the Rams let him walk.
Kurt homer! So, this thread feels like a game day thread strewn with negativity...lol.
Just kidding. Everyone has their opinion on American Underdog.
I just watched it tonight with the wife and kids on Prime Video for $5.99 as a rental. We wanted to see it at the theater, but couldn't get a schedule to work for all of us together at once. Home video wasn't bad!
I give the movie a top 5-Star rating. I'm definitely a Rams and GSOT homer, full disclosure.
For me, it was "American Underdog". It wasn't "Rams 1999" or, "The GSOT X's & O's" It was a story about this guy's life as he became a super star.
Yeah, they left out Europe, the Chicago tryout fail, etc. I don't care. It's a 1 1/2 hour movie. Does it need to have "everything"? I say no. I will say, what's in the movie, what made it to the screen, is very true to life, which I appreciate. Nothing over inflated.
The movie gave me a good feel for what Kurt's life was like as he strived to be an NFL quarterback. Contained some very emotional scenes.
I really, really, really liked it. Go rent it if you haven't seen it yet!
Well, the fact that they had Warner joining the team in '99 and being a "rookie" was just too much for me. Glad you enjoyed the filmI will say, what's in the movie, what made it to the screen, is very true to life, which I appreciate. Nothing over inflated.

Lol, while we were watching it I kept saying "Go fat Faulk go!".Why did they cast a fat guy for Faulk’s role?
Wasn't crazy about Brenda during the whole run in real life and less of a fan the way they portrayed her in the film. Could have had more and fat Faulk made no sense lol. Great story, great super bowl win, meh on the movie.I just watched that movie. It was too much about Brenda. I wanted more of the football side of things. I’m am so glad that I didn’t pay to see it in a theater.
Why did they cast a fat guy for Faulk’s role?
My favorite was Mooch cutting him after two days. Nice talent evaluation skills.
Warner was 5-0 vs the Whiners while he was with the Rams from 1999-2001. Would've been 6-0 but he was injured in 2000 and they won 34-24 with Trent.I don't think Kurt ever lost to the whiners. One more reason I was mad that the Rams let him walk.
Creative License is just another way to say fuck the truth and facts.

Just seemed like they cut corners once they got to the Rams. Uniforms were way off with Wish version jerseys/numbers, the players (Faulk and Bruce for starters) looked like they grabbed a couple of guys who were playing pickup basketball, and of course the factual Rams history.Lol, while we were watching it I kept saying "Go fat Faulk go!".
Yeah I would have been happy with more Rams stuff for sure and more attention to detail. The white Leonard Little made me chuckle, roll my eyes. But I get why its not all that important to the story they wanted to tell to the majority of people who'd be watching it..Just seemed like they cut corners once they got to the Rams. Lets face it, there is no Kurt Warner story if he starts 10 games, they lose most of them and he's back to palookaville after the year. Its a story and he's a story because of the success of the Rams team. They could have easily cut out 20 minutes of his college/arena ball and made the real "Underdog" story the real hero. Instead, after all that build up they went with some made up version of Martz saying "he's ready", and oh by the way they won the SB.....
I get it that to make a movie out of a real life sitch requires suspending some reality, but IMO what they did with the Rams stuff would have been like taking the big sack at the end of "Rudy" and having that sack clinch the National Championship.... Instead, they kept it factual, right down to the seconds on the clock.
Alas....
Issac Bruce was played by Simeon Castile, who was a 2 year NFL pro out of the University of Alabama, for what it's worth.the players (Faulk and Bruce for starters) looked like they grabbed a couple of guys who were playing pickup basketball
