We had some pretty great football teams with Coach Welch. I only played my freshman year. Tucker was my coach then. Welch was my track coach and I couldn’t stand him so I stopped playing football. Can’t argue with his success though.

We had a rotory antenna
We had rabbit ears only. So did my grandpa. When we would go to his house, his wife (not my grandma) would always be vacuuming for some reason. Every time she’d come into the living room, we’d lose signal and my grandpa would start barking at her. He had aluminum foil wrapped around the antennas to extend them. I really don’t think it helped.

Funnily enough I was born, raised, and currently reside in Greensboro. Started watching football during the GSOT and stuck with the Rams through all the hard times. Honestly wasn't that hard for the most part since I like rooting for the underdogs and there was always that "maybe next year" theme until recent times.

Not many of us at all out here so nice to know I'm not the only one lol.

was born raised and will probably die in central North Carolina.
20 miles south of Greensboro.

By the time I was 10, I was falling in love with football.

Playing backyard football with my many cousins every other Sunday
at Grandmas'. (Just had to avoid the big rock in middle of yard)
This was the mid 70's

When we were inside we were watching NFL. where I lived it was
always the Skns who were on tv every sunday. I hated everything about that team.
This was of course long before the Panthers were even a idea.

So all of us had our favorite teams.
The honest to god reason I picked the Rams as my favorite team
was the Super Bad helmets and colors of uniforms.
At that time the blue and white uni's had to more of a Blue and yellow,
which I love.

So east coast or close to east coast. Give us your location.
Happen to see @Tano is from West Virginia and it made me wonder.
how many Easterly Rams maniacs we have at ROD

Doesn't have to be a long winded post ,like mine.
Just your location and how many years you've been a RamHead.

Another NC Native here, I have lived there my whole life. Born in Greensboro at Moses Cone Hospital and grew up in Brown Summit, which is 10 miles North of Greensboro. I went to college at UNC-Charlotte and got my degree in engineering. I then moved to Raleigh for work and now I live in the Johnston County/Clayton area (fastest growing county in the state) just SE of Raleigh.

I have been a Rams Fans since 1976. I also played a lot of backyard football as a kid in the 70s and early 80's. Back then in NC most of my classmates were Cowboys fans and most of my family were Redskin fans. I wanted to be different, and I started following the Rams because I liked their uniforms, and they were a good team who I got to see occasionally for the 4:00 games. My fandom was solidified when they beat the Cowboys in the playoffs 14-12. Note: That win was so sweet because many of my friends/classmates who were Cowboy fans had derided my liking the Rams.

Great to meet you Rams Brother. I was born in Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
Of course if there is any serious health matters we go to Cone, because Randolph
is second rate compared to Cone facilities.
more info than you needed but anyway, Great to hear from you.:fistbump1:

I've been a fan since the GSOT days.
I used to spend a good part of my summer vacation in Cana , Virginia
as my aunt, uncle and cousins lived there.
I can still remember going swimming in a large creek
That was running down from a mountain.
It could be 95 degrees , but that water was so cold it
turn our lips a purplish color. Some of my best childhood
memory's happened in Virginia.
Great to meet you Rams Brother!

I think I just saw my soulmate.
A woman who drives a tractor barefoot, can also run a chainsaw.
I 'm sure she is already married, because she is way past the marrying age of
14.

Please forgive if I offended with 14yo being married just a southern
joke. in no way shape or form would I ever condone anything of the
sort. In fact I would vote for castration or death of anyone who would
hurt any child.

Oh My gosh Dude you are bringing back some serious memories.
Had forgot all about the electric interference and how I
would get so mad. especially if I was watching football

MY kids could not understand your post, even if their lives depended on it. lol
Their response would probably be to just reset the router. SMH

I'll keep to topic, spent a few years as a Rams fan stationed in the D.C. area, in the '80s when Joe Gibbs and the Redskins were in their glory. The fans were insufferable. Proudly supported my Rams.

Born and raised in Maryland and currently live on the eastern shore just across the line in Delaware (bought here to hopefully retire soon. You don't wanna retire in MD, trust me).
I moved from PA to South Florida in November (Gulf Coast, been traveling twice a year there for the last 30 years). Took I95 from Northeast of Philly to Florida until I bought an RV. Now gotta avoid the tunnel in Baltimore so I discovered how nice the drive is south through Delaware across the Eastern Shore and over the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. What a nice drive. Even modified that route going Southwest through N. Carolina to Wilson, then pick up I95. It eliminates the clusterfook from Philly through Richmond (and the rest of VA). It's so much less stressful. May take a little longer but I'm in no hurry anymore.

Another NC resident here, I'm just a few minutes north of Charlotte NC. Grew up in upstate NY. It was those Glorious Horns that sucked me in as a very young kid around 1970 or so.
The following is from a post I made in 2019 that kinda explains things. I'm too lazy to re-think and re-type the whole story out again, so I copied and pasted. :sneaky:

Hello everyone!

Long time lurker around here, joined a while back, but generally read more than I write....that, or someone always says what I'm thinking before I get around to it.

Anyways, I've been a Rams fan for over 45 years....it was those horns on the helmet that drew me in as a young boy in '69 or '70. I lived in upstate NY with no NFL cities close by, so no major influences to get in the way.

Moved to NC in the early '80's. The Panthers came to town in '95.
We all know about the Rams in the '90's. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Rams would have been the worst team of the '90's if it weren't for the Bengals or the Browns...?
Anyways, I considered switching teams back then. The Rams were horrible, and the Panthers, led by the legendary Bill Polian as GM, were the hot new thing. In '96, they made the playoffs.

But I couldn't quite do it then. But I was sorta on the fence, so to speak. If I was gonna leave, that was the time. It was the first time in my life I actually lived in an NFL home city.

But then there was a Rams game on TV, played in St. Louis, against the Panthers....I sat down to watch, actually not knowing who I was going to pull for.... Then the Rams Roman Phifer scooped up a fumble and headed for the endzone...50 yards or so, I think he ended up getting tackled at the 1 or so and fumbled himself.............

But the thing is, I was on my feet, screaming for him...GO! GO! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I will NEVER forget that moment.

I think the Rams lost that game, but it didn't matter.

Because that was the moment that I KNEW, for an undeniable fact, that the Rams would ALWAYS be my team, no matter what. What city, or what circumstance, or whatever. It was set in stone.
And I'm still here.

GO RAMS!

I guess we got this backwards, or something.... been married 45 years - but I got my wife a tractor just last year... In your 60/70's, this device is invaluable around the farm!

Born and raised in Boston. Really long story but will provide high level version. Patriots sucked so bad in the 70's that we never got Patriot games on TV so was hard to follow the team. We got a lot of Giants games back then but I hated them. One Monday night in 76 or 77 the Rams played the Steelers, when Monday night games were an actual event. My very Italian uncle wanted to place a bet and asked me who would win. I picked the Rams and fell in love with the team that night. First Ram gear was a Lawrence McCutcheon shirt from the Sears catalog. Been a happy and loyal Rams fan ever since.

RAMS played steelers in 1975 on a Saturday night 'special edition of MNF and in 1978 on a Sunday night version of MNF. LA won both matchups allowing a total of only ten points combined across the two games.

Born and Raised in Upstate, NY right outside of Albany, Niskayuna and now residing in Guilderland. Been around the world and back with the Air Force (Combat Control) was based in Dayton, Ohio and adopted the Buckeye State while being a University of Dayton Grad too.

Started rooting for the Rams at a young age in a family that was into sports mainly the four major sports (Football, baseball, basketball and hockey) and my dad, grandfathers, cousins all liked the Yankees, Giants, Knicks & Rangers, so I decided to go opposite of all of them and root for the left coast with the Rams, Dodgers, Lakers & Kings. Because of being in Ohio for many years, did switch from Notre Dame college football to The Ohio State University.

I have also said this before but I became a Ram fan around 1970 (loved Roman Gabriel and wanted to be a QB) and have been a diehard fan ever since. Lost all interest in other sports over time. Grew up in upstate NY right in the heart of the finger lakes in Seneca Falls. Went to school in Herkimer and then Geneseo and finally settled in Victor. Where did you grow up Mola?
