Waiting to get into training camp 1 year was brutal listening to that(whose house) for over an hour every 20 seconds.

Reading this thread makes me feel old, and that's making me a little sad.

The positive is that I will completely forget about it a few minutes after I leave the thread ... because I'm old.

Well - I have a friend that’s that way.Actually she is 20 years old than myself. She has had quite the week this week. —The daughter is who I feel sorry for really.
The great thing is every time I use a pick up line on her mom it works.Seeing her smile or bless is priceless.
Life is funny & we can create good moments. Was wonder if that Tennessee Titans road game went well with The ROD gang ?

I know quite a few people over 40 who don’t know jack about history. They aren’t really interested either. I think it’s common for young people of all generations to not be interested in history. Folks tend to educate themselves as they get into their 50’s.

Just my 2 cents
100% and it's sad. Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.
Like, don't people know that bell bottoms AREN'T a new thing??

Yeah, I have lived by that quote and this from TR as well. "In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing." --Theodore Roosevelt--
Teddy Roosevelt had his fair share of flaws, but nobody can deny that he was a man of action, a man of sheer will, and overall, a good man. One of my two overall presidential heroes along with Abraham Lincoln.

I will always love him for restoring the natural beauty of the U.S. out of sheer respect for it, for getting rid of giant and corrupt corporations by "trust-busting", for working himself from a sickly boy with asthma to the pinnacle of physical dominance, for risking his life in the Spanish-America War, for negotiating a peace deal between Japan and Russia and earning the Nobel Peace Prize, for getting shot by an attempted assassin during a speech and finishing the speech even with a bullet in him, for saying many quotes that ring true, even in the modern age, and for being an overall total badass.

I wish we still had him with us; the world needs more men like Teddy Roosevelt, not less.

TR gave the square deal and his cousin FDR gave us the fair deal. TR was a hawk, however, he led by example and he felt his sons should follow in his footsteps. I agree TR faults and he glorified war, but overall, one of the best ever and as to Lincoln, yeah, we have him #1.

Shit, forgot that Roosevelt also created the Food and Drug Administration! Before they were made, there were a lot of snake-oil salesmen who would make "curative elixirs" that were nothing but horseshit, where chalk was put into milk to make it seem "whiter", etc. OH, and he was the only president to ever win the Medal of Honor for his actions at San Juan Hill.

On that note - and I'm trying not to be political when I say this - I should probably explain why Lincoln is one of my two presidential heroes (along with Teddy Roosevelt). I loved his calm nature, his grace, and even his polite sarcasm (asking if he could borrow the Union Army from his overly cautious general, George B. McClellan). He was basically born in poverty, but read a lot, taught himself law, and became a fantastic lawyer. Physically, he was tall and was also a frontier wrestler who only lost once in his wrestling career. As President - and authorizing a few not-much-thought-about-but-extremely-important achievements - he established the National Banking System and created the first intercontinental railroad (both of which were something that was essential at the time and both of which are in use today). His Gettysburg address is a speech that still rings true to this day in many ways. He's famous for a lot of truly inspirational quotes: "Whatever you are, be a good one." and "Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends?" being two famous ones out of many.

He led a nation that tore itself apart, that pitted friends against friends, family against family, neighbor against neighbor, in some of the bloodiest and most lethal battles that the United States has ever fought...and he led the Union with the same grace and calm that ultimately saved the country from itself. His Ten Percent Plan, had John Wilkes Booth not shot him and made the completely incompetent Andrew Johnson the new president (who basically made all of the Confederate leadership as powerful as they were before the war and was completely against any and all civil rights, which gave Jim Crow a powerful jumpstart, like one would do with a car) would've made the South less resenting: pardoning most of the Confederates and restoring property rights - not including slaves to the people - except for the high-ranking Confederate officers and politicians, while still abolishing slavery. Such a thing could've potentially prevented Jim Crow, again, were it not for his assassination.

He was far from perfect, even on matters such as slavery at first, but like Theodore Roosevelt after him, was ultimately a good man, just as much of a badass and just as much of a man, in a different way than Teddy.

I love FDR, too. He was inspirational in his own right as well, and I should definitely include him in a list of inspirational presidents as well. He helped with the Great Depression as best as he could (but it was WW2, really and sadly, that jumpstarted the world's problems with the entirety of the Depression, for the most part).

Teddy wasn't perfect in a lot of ways, but he wasn't always a hawk. He did expand our navy tremendously (and had it been there at the time, would've done the same with the Air Force; he believed in having every advantage we could), but he also believed in speaking softly and carrying a big stick, to make all attempts at diplomacy before fighting, but always being prepared to fight. Again, he did win the Nobel Peace Prize by stopping the Russo-Japanese War before the fighting could get worse, and you don't do that with being a pure hawk.

And leading by example is something that Teddy firmly believed in. Yes, he believed his sons should follow his footsteps as men, but he believed in all of them and led by example with all of them, led by example throughout his entire life, and that's why people gravitated towards him.

Sorry for geeking out on this; I'm a huge history nerd of all kinds (yes, Greek mythology included amongst a lot of wars and periods of the U.S.). All of that, all of the history of the world, can be fair or ill. The main thing is to not repeat the history of the past because it's safer, but to move forward from the present to a brighter future by learning from that past.

We still have snake-oil salesmen.
They're on Capital Hill.
Yup.
And this guy is here for you, bubbaram.... if you haven't heard this song yet, it went super viral (243m views so far):

Sorry, don't mean to post politics on here, but I think we can all agree that DC is still full of snake-oil sellers. Mods if this is too much, feel free to delete, thx.

Sort of funny in away. My Old friend Sammy. He actually went with me to Vegas to collect my Rams big bet 1999/2000 like in April.
Anyways he took Teddy to see Churchill on a Open Navy boat.He sucked from taking sea’s & was getting reprimanded & he told the officer to stop.He was just doing a natural thing. They cut to extend the hull to fit him on the ship(British) . One of my biggest regrets was never writing a book about my Forrest Gump type friend.
Amazing stories of life.
He got shot (scrap metal)& on a ship that sunk(hit by a missle). Saw sea biscuit run out of retirement & won that bet. Saw a bunch of Rosenowls. The undefeated season?? Baseball the 1924 Giants(ny) & Washington Senators .Just a few of his stories .

I like Jackson for our left tackle. He's been good. The whole line has been good. They have a nice chemistry with each other. And they know how our backs run. But I don't like the potential suspension. If it happens its not likely to be just two games this time. If its 8 games they gotta seriously think about their options.

I wonder if there's been any contact with Taylor Decker's agent? Obviously you don't wanna be paying two left tackles 19-20 million each. But Jackson has no guarantees after this season. If they were to cut him in 2027 the dead cap would be 5 million with a cap savings of 19 million. Which is about the annual salary Decker would want.

I'd prefer to keep Jackson but can we be sure there won't be any more incidents? A 3rd could end up a much longer suspension.
Valid concerns and it sucks to have to even think that way. AJ, why couldn't you stay outta trouble dammit?!
