I was kinda shocked to see that Cam's final stat line for the game was only 17 carries for 55 yards, only a 3.2 average. During the game he seemed to be playing great, and squeezing out the max yardage on every play. Don't remember him getting stuffed that often.

And yeah, he had the one trick play reception for 40 yards. Anyone recall how many of Cam's good plays were negated by penalty?

Anyway, we all thought Can played great, it's just a bit weird that his final rushing stat line *seems* underwhelming.

There were a bunch of plays called back iirc and I think some were Cam. Not sure I was really stoned but I seem to recall thinking the back judge was calling it kind of tight. Problem is all the calls seemed to correspond to good plays for us.

Yea two big plays called back. Probably 35-40 yards there, plus the dropped pass which went for another 30 at least. So he almost had a huge day. Out-touched Sony by a decent margin which was pretty crazy to see. Looked great in pass pro as well.

Just never thought we'd see him back looking at full strength for the playoff run. Him being back by itself makes us way harder to beat. Not to mention if OBJ and Stafford keep getting chemistry. Because Akers in the red zone is a monster, and with Kupp and now OBJ our RZ offense should be pretty close to unstoppable if we're executing well.

Definitely proved me wrong. This is an Adrian Peterson-like recovery time.
9 1/2 months coming off an ACL was insane for AP. He looked literally the same as he did pre-injury if not better. But 5 months coming off an achilles tear??!! It's almost unfathomable that Cam looks as good as he does. I'd say it's more impressive than AP because achilles tears are worse for explosive athletes, and Akers came back even quicker.

I think many wondered if he would ever be the same type of runner when he came back. You never know, and there's a legitimate chance he's never exactly 100% the same. Maybe still effective, but Akers was elite down the stretch last year. To see what he did last night and the spark he gave our team was so incredible. If he would've looked this good by September and the start of next season I would've been ecstatic. But to see him back for this playoff run is just so special.

I think Akers play since he returned demonstrates how much goes in to a big day on the field. By that I mean he came back physically but the details he missed in so many of the elements of being a good back like ball security through contact, timing and feel for the QB's ball, etc need to be sorted.

Plus defenses in the playoffs are full tilt. Ain't nobody out there taking plays off. Which means an additional hit or two on runs, more guys to the ball grabbing and pulling at it, and they're great players because it's the playoffs and units that are doing things right to be there. Those games vs Tampa and SF were physical deep playoff bouts in every way.

Now he's facing a defense that isn't quite as good as those others. Plus he's been back in the rhythm of shit now for a month. And the Rams OL is probably going to open up some really nice holes in this one. So I'll be surprised if Akers doesn't have a big day. Question is whether his day will be big enough for game MVP. Because he's gonna play well IMO and if for whatever reason he doesn't then that opportunity will fall to Michel.
