Reading between the lines this means the Rams are not certain Cam was the problem. Clearly some shit went down where it was handled poorly by someone. But there is no way that dude would be on the team unless they still value him.
I don't mind that part but the way it has played out in the open is just crazy. Media going to eat this shit up and it's an unneeded distraction self created by the Rams. There's a reason it's good to keep comments in-house and out of media sessions.

Rams need to play hardball here. Bench him for a few weeks and let him chill and think about the fact the team has his rights through next year too. If he spends the rest of this season on the bench and then they cut him in the offseason he's going to have zero value and the short term contract he signs will be shitty.

So it benefits him to pull his head out out of his ass and become part of the team again. There is no other play for him if the Rams approach this the right way.

Am I the only one that doesn't want him back? After what he said I don't see how that's possible.

No I agree with you. But our other backs are so bad it worries me to get rid of him without bringing someone else in. Which is sad, given how Akers hasn't done shit since he returned from that injury.

@dieterbrock I'm not saying he doesn't/didn't have a great work ethic in his recovery, but the reason he came back so quickly from the Achilles injury was because they used a new technique in the surgery. He didn't Kung Fu panda his way to coming back so fast. That's the recovery time for that new technique.

My question is how did his injury effect his vision and instincts so much? Dude misses wide open lanes just because they deviate from the play path slightly, even if he's just running into the back of his OL.

Discussing our team's shortfalls doesn't have all that much to do with trusting them. There's a ton of different ways to approach any problem and they'll take one of those approaches and hopefully get it right again. But the discussion concerning which path to take is not condemning anyone, rather it's half the fun of what we do here.

I still haven't seen one verifiable thing he did or said. Just rumors and assumptions.

It reminds me of QBs who take a bunch of sacks. After a while, they aren't processing like they need to. On the handful of plays where a lane opens, Akers isn't even looking for it anymore. He's just trying to get a few yards when he isn't getting hit in the backfield.

It seems to me like Akers doesn't want to be a Ram. And that pisses me off.

Lots of frustration in a losing locker room. Let's give this situation a chance to play out. At worst... Akers is insurance. The Rams are just about out of RB options. At best... this lights a fire under his ass and the team benefits from a run game again. However, if he fumbles again... I think it would be over for sure.

He's played poorly this year before everything went down. That said, he's coming off a significant injury that ends the careers of some. Per-injury, the kid was talented. Unless there are differences that can't be moved on from, you don't let talent walk out the door for nothing. The cap hit is minimal. I agree with holding onto the asset and trying to find resolution. Not a fan of it playing out in public, but imagine the shit many fans/posters/media would be giving the organization without some sort of explanation. Perhaps I blindly trust McSnead (I do, Tutu pick and Austin extension aside!), but I don't have issue with the way they've handled this, particularly given the fact no one knows what the hell really went down.
