Thoughts? Personally I hope this leads to a long term deal or walk away from him. I think we will add 3 CB via FA & draft to rebuild the position.

God Snead sucks. Can't believe we kept him and didn't hire Chris Ballard.

After letting janoris walk this is a lose lose for now. Letting both of your top corners walk in back to back years would be a huge blow. On the other hand, I'm not sure tru is a shutdown kinda guy worth that money. But we need him and that's why I'm cautiously optimistic

Have to tag him till they get a long term contract, let him go or pay him the tag money. Tru wins whatever the Rams do. I don't the best way to go is. He may cost too much.

I don't think I like them franchising Johnson again. Unfortunately, they team in negotiating from a desperate position, due to lack of depth at the position. That bodes well for Johnson.

.

This is what happens when you low ball players and lock up nobody. You find yourself in even a worse position a year later where you have to pay much more than you did if you had just taken care of business last season.

I mean, we have the cap space I guess.

Hope this doesn't stop us from going HAM in free agency though.

It's the same GM who pissed away all the freed cap space from letting go of Cook, Laurinaitis and Long. It's the same GM that signed the 118th ranked CB over Pro Bowler Casey Hayward and for the same amount. Nothing will shock me with Snead. We missed out on a stud at GM in Chris Ballard. He will turn around Indy just watch.

I'm thinking that they feel confident they can sign him long term, its not like they would franchise someone else.
Throw the non exclusive on him and maybe Gregg Williams convinces Cleveland to sign him and we end up with 2 #1's...

It means TruJo figures into Wade Phillips defensive shceme, otherwise I think they would have let him walk.

Same GM who has consistently found bargains in the late rounds and UDFAs. Same GM who was likely handcuffed by Fisher. Same GM who got a king's ransom in the RGMe trade. Same GM who gave up much less in the Goff trade.

And who says that Ballard would have even gone to us, even if we did fire Snead?

If they can't lock him up in the next few months they can remove tag and let him walk too.

This is my assumption, Tru could be a top player in Wade's defense if he can stay healthy. The Rams backed themselves into a corner in regards to Tru and this is really their only route if Wade thinks he fits his D. Plus, they could still try to trade him also if there is a team out there who really likes him. I doubt we'd get the asking price for a franchise player but can always negotiate for one first rounder if there is a taker. But either way, this keeps one of our top chips on our side of the table for the time being. Wasn't really any other way to go. I just wish they signed players before we get to the point of no other options.

Same GM who gave up the farm to draft a QB who had never played under center and is clearly not the best QB from the class. Same GM who traded Bradford for Nick Foles. Same GM who signed Coty Sensabaugh, Cam Thomas and Quinton Coples. Worst off-season I have ever seen was 2016. I wouldn't say constantly found bargains btw, we didn't even want to spend a seventh round pick on La'El Collins.
