Umm, Daryl Richardson, Zac Stacy, and John Kelley were or are 5th round and beyonds; I wouldn't call those "prime picks". Its very hard for me to get on board the criticism of Les Snead with those dime a dozen picks.

Tre Mason developed mental issues; something that never came up during college. Not sure how you can criticize a GM for something that would happen 2 years later.

Todd Gurley's payday wasn't premature. He had come off a great bounce back year and followed up with a legendary 2018 season. Injuries and attitude later he gets cut it happens. Again, not sure how can get on the team for something that would happen in the future.

Fair enough on the 5th rounders except Stacy cost us 2 picks, but don't leave out 2nd rounder pead in 2012. Now we're talking 5 decent picks for 4 players.
If we're gonna draft one every other year just in case, maybe they should be mostly 5th rounders.

As for not holding a GM accountable for what happens to a player a couple years after he's drafted, cmon man. What else are you grading a GM on other than the production of his picks?

Make no mistake, I root for every guy who puts on a Ram uni and I want to eat crow on this one because after all, we picked him #52 when there was plenty of talent on the board.

Zac Stacy "cost" 2 late 6th rounders. Whatevs.

It's one thing to take a player like Brian Quick who's a known project that never pans out from the beginning. It's another to take guys and years later develop injuries or non-football issues. Not sure how a GM is supposed to foresee that.

I forgot about Isaiah Pead; I'll give you that one. To be fair, I think he also had mental issues, then tearing his ACL in preseason.

Plus this is interesting holding McVay accountable for Fishers draft mistakes. Fisher had total roster control, McVay works with Snead. Under McVay they’ve spent what 2 draft picks on RB? The rest listed in this thread or was it another we’re under Fisher.

Well that was definitely in the movie, not that he was afraid at that time, so I'm not sure if this is the world's worst internet tough guy impression or if you really meant to hijack this thread to discuss comics and the contradictory nature of bravery...

But I like the second one more and I try to believe in the internet goodness of people (sometimes). Anyway, I'd disagree. I think Cap did know fear. Cap wasn't stupid, and when facing all the things he did, only the stupid people aren't afraid. It's the willingness to stand up and do what you believe is right anyway that makes someone brave. And Cap was brave, beyond a doubt.

Contrast that to a character like the Hulk and you can see the difference. Until Smart Hulk came along, he didn't know any fear. He wasn't brave, he was immune.

Tony Stark on the other hand, is also mostly not brave. He thinks he's so damn answer he doesn't have anything to fear. When he finds out he's wrong his world crumbles. Sometimes, more common in comics and TV shows, he needs encouragement from his brave friends. In the MCU he would do crazy shit, say things he shouldn't in venues he shouldn't, and double down on the "no really I'm smarter than all of you" and usually make situations worse.

What are your thoughts on that?

Pretty accurate summation but he still would read my reply

This wasn't about McVay, it was about Snead. I, along with countless other Ram fans would really like to know just how the drafting went during the fisher era. Who had how much say?

We’ve know since Fisher was hired he had total control. This isn’t new news he said early on he chose us over the Dolphins because the Rams gave him more control. Your comment criticized Snead for Fishers decisions and tied it into McVay using 2 picks in 4 years on RB.

I've seen loud whispers about Snead's ability to draft players. The proof is there, look at what our team was before Snead, and look where he got us. To the SuperBowl, Snead took one of the crappiest teams with the worst win loss record of the last decade, and turned things around so much that we made it to the Super Bowl. Case closed.

So...Snead just sat around collecting a paycheck for 6 years? He had to have something to do with the draft. Cmon, man.

As for tying McVay to "fisher's drafts", that would imply that again, Snead is just collecting checks and McVay is in complete control of draft day.
I'm not buying it, and it only detracts from my initial post--a lotta picks have been spent on RBs since Snead got here. That's all I was trying to say. However much you want to bring in the HCs, so be it. That was not my point.

C'mon man! He was a GM in title a scouting director in what he actually did. He scouted for Fisher and Fisher made the decisions this isn't something new we knew this right after Fisher got the job.

Probably true but what about now? Is this McKay’s thumb print? It is widely been reported that this years first two picks were mcvays

We've heard interviews with both of them that they work together. McVay complimentary on Snead and his teams work in finding players that fit what McVay and the coordinators want. We never heard anything like that from Fisher.

And back in 2016 both fisher and Snead said they had a great working relationship. i would never put any stock in what they say in the media. I do believe mcvay is now top dog in rams park and he is starting to exert his will more.

Snead has been there during the drafting of Aaron Donald and Todd Gurley, All-Pro players, but the team team was still bad. The win-loss record didn't turn around until McVay took over in '17. Not Saying Snead is bad, just that trying to equate Snead's input in player personnel to the team's recent success is futile. You can't give him credit for the last 3 successful years and then not hold him accountable for the previous 5.

More than that. Goff, Higbee, Brockers were also Fisher/Snead draft choices. Saffodl while not under that regime was reuped by that regime.

So if the theory goes that Snead had no control of the draft under Fisher then Fisher drafted

Goff,
Gurley,
Donald,
Higbee,
Brockers,
Havenstein

And now if since McVay its been Sneads draft then Les has drafted,

Kupp,
Reynolds,
JJ

Most of the other players where UDFA or FA aquisition. or trade. So since Fisher Les had improved in FA acquisitions but until further notice declined in draft pick. Of course part of that would be Goff trade and in general lack of number ones but that feeds in to his pro acguistitions.

I liked the Mike Silver articles during the Fisher years. I thought he did a good job showing the collaborative process between Fisher and Snead. It was a partnership.

Re: the RBs, I do think that was more Fisher, because that was the same pattern they followed in Tennessee after Eddie George ...drafting a RB in the early rounds every year....LenDale White, Chris Henry, then Chris Johnson. He loved his workhorse backs and would keep drafting until he found one.

I got the same impression when Fisher was here...Zac Stacy and Tre Mason had some moments, but they didn't fit what he was looking for in a starting RB, until Gurley came along, and there was no need to keep drafting RBs after that.

The team was middling. 7-9 is still better than the 2-14 record that was inherited. And it wasn’t one bad year, the team was a group of perennial losers. Worst team of the last 10 years before he was hired. The personnel overhaul needed to grow into SUPERBOWL contender is massive. And he did it.

except in 2016 when the rams knew fisher was out the door after the relocation.
