What fun is a world where we don't share opinions- off the cuff or well thought out. I know I appreciate seeing it.

Lol true true but let's not go crazy if someone comes in this forum and says "what period did the rams score a goal' and precedes it with "well I think we need a new goalie btw is Joe Montana still the Rams goalie?" and then gives their off the wall analysis we got issues lolol. :horns::unsure::shock::unsure::shock::LOL::explode:

No lost credibility with me, @Memento. It would be such a boring place if we all didn't share our thoughts both positive and negative. Keep 'em coming.

There’s three phases to evaluating a draft. The initial reaction, which everyone is entitled to based on expectation. Then there’s the first season evaluation when we get to see how well or poorly the draft addressed problems on the team. Then three years later when we get to say ‘ It told you so’. Too many times I’ve had to say I told you so.
The first one is more of reaction, then an evaluation. And certainly not enough of an evaluation to say this is the GMs worst draft.

Over the years I have found out that the Rams rarely take the guy I think they will or should. I have learned to totally research the pick before I get too wound up. After I check out the players they have taken I am usually decently pleased with the selection.

The draft can be the perfect setup when it goes in a different direction then you want/expect. Appreciate the effort on all your mocks. You are more invested in the draft then most and appreciate the effort you put in on all your mocks.

Then this is probably an ideal time to evaluate the 2017 draft.

#44 Everett, TE: Still hasn't emerged fully but looks promising
#69 Kupp, WR : Who can complain?
#91 Johnson, S: Seems to be a keeper
#117 Reynolds, WR: All he does is fill in admirably when a WR goes down
#125 Ebukam, OLB: Under rated IMHO

#189 Smart, DT: JAG
#206 Rogers, FB: gone
#234 Price, DE: gone

This year's draft seems to have some similaries

#52 Akers, RB
#57 Jefferson, WR
#84 Lewis, OLB
#104 Burgess, S
#136 Hopkins, TE

#199 Fuller, S
#234 Johnston, ILB
#248 Sloman, PK
#250 Anchrum, G

We'll see in 3 years.
You're clearly not good at evaluations past drafts. Let me help:

#44 Everett, TE: fumble waiting to happen, can't even beat out Higbee; wasted pick
#69 Kupp, WR : slot receiver that only has good numbers because Goff forces him the ball, also injured during the super bowl run; wasted pick
#91 Johnson, S: couldn't beat out that one guy (Maurice Alexander?) his rookie year and was hurt last year; wasted pick
#117 Reynolds, WR: might not even be a starter this year if Jefferson beats him out; wasted pick
#125 Ebukam, OLB: still not starting if Lewis beats him, couldn't beat out Matthews last year, JAG at best; wasted pick

#189 Smart, DT: JAG; wasted pick
#206 Rogers, FB: gone; wasted pick
#234 Price, DE: gone; wasted pick

Now THAT'S how you evaluate a previous draft!

I didn't say they were all bad players. I said it was a bad draft. Snead missed on two key needs. Inside linebacker and Center. Akers and Jefferson may end up being good players but WR was not a big need and teams find Running backs in later rounds. They could have traded up, and tried to and take Hunt. They had a few opportunities to take some good ilb. Snead could have moved back with a second and took Cushenberry or Hennessy. Lewis and Johnston were injured most of their collegiate carreers. That rarely works out as a good return on investment. They already have one injury prone ilb, why not another?

I like the Hopkins and Burgess picks. Didn't think Akers and Jefferson were the best value. If the Rams didn't have the 31st ranked Oline in the league, and a slow footer ilb with another that's been injured two years running maybe I'd feel differently.

Onto 2017.

Everrett - forced need pick raw athletic talent not a good value
Kupp - I said before that draft that he was a first round pick. I'd have taken him instead of Everrett. So I don't know what your smug about. Short memory I guess
Johnson -I loved the pick
Reynolds - good back up, average receiver, okay pick
Ebukam - good athlete, serviceable backup
the rest ? Wasted trade backs.

So two good picks, both starters great draft? Hardly.

Everyone on this board has the right to disagree. You can hate every damn draft, the only thing that matters is that no matter what you support your team and everyone here is in agreement when it comes to supporting the team. Geez for too many years I lived in San Diego while my original team was 2K miles away. I supported a team with a loser owner and when he installed all his family to run the team I about puked. I really disliked most of their drafts. The team booted a coach who went 14-2. Another coach before him begged publicly to draft an unknown QB named Tom Brady and when they didn't he said they would regret it and so the fired him. They bring in a GM who gets guys like Rivers, Brees, Tomlinson, Weddle and Gates all on the same team at the same time what other GM gets at least 3 HOF players on a team at the same time, but they fire him too because he resisted breaking them up.

I supported a loser team like that for 20+ years because it was "my" team and I simply suffered through the bad ownership year after year. So now I see fans here so damn passionate about their team and I smile and think oh yeah this is more like it. We can nitpick each and every draft but in the end we back the team knowing that "damn this is a good team, a true contender" and that is why people here are so passionate. We all see the same goal, a Lombardi within reach so your damn right you are passionate about every player chosen. But love them or not they now are part of OUR TEAM we will support them.

If we all thought and felt the same way this board would be so boring. I love all the diverse outlooks and that is on display here. It makes it fun and damn interesting. I mean when Merlin puts up his video breakdowns it's absolutely great. I may not agree with everything he says but damn I learn stuff every time he does those breakdowns. And that is part of why we come here isn't it. To share what we see and feel and we learn from each other.

All I can say is keep it up guys. Disagreement with the FO and each other is normal.

No lost credibility.

I find excessive negativity to draft picks to be really obnoxious and sometimes I feel like it's selfish sometimes to rain on everybody's parade when there are plenty of other respected members who are enjoying the selections.
It comes down to preconceived notions. Most people are not complaining about who we picked but who we didn't and who they wanted us to.
That's understandable but still obnoxious.

I've been on most of these boards with you guys since Zygmunt. These drafts are always the same. Massive overreactions that nobody ever learns from the next year.

Nothing wrong with being excited about a player and disappointed we didn't get him. Nothing wrong with not liking the one we got... It's just the over the top negativity that people refuse to let go of that irritates me. Nobody went that far here, but it came close.

Oh Well, thats the draft.

for me there's one more phase that is after the initial reaction. for me phase two is watching high lights on the draft picks and because they are high lights I decide they are all pro bowlers. what would be best for me would be low lights i would learn more. oh well as always after the draft I talk myself into super bowl winner for sure. jerry rice beware because Jefferson is coming for all your records!!!!!

Not being "smug" about anything.

When you say Snead missed on 2 needs, who's needs? Yours? The talking heads? Perceived needs would be a more accurate way to put it. And the fact they had multiple opportunities to get an ILB earlier and didn't means they didn't look at that as a huge need. On C, Cushenberry has been described as a bad fit in a zone scheme and Hennessy (I thought they might take him) was considered smallish. Lewis was injured a couple of times and missed a lot of time. But he was healthy his senior season, so there's that. IF he's healthy in the pros, he's a steal. Sure RBs can be had lower but that was a HUGE need. So was WR once Cooks was traded. As far as the ILB, K and G, let's face it, once your into the 6th and 7th round, those guys rarely make it on teams with already pretty good rosters. The kicker will probably make it.....they said post draft "we got our kicker'.....so all in all, they addressed all the needs they felt they had to address.

Again, not being "smug". Don't know where that came from.

I work with a die hard Packer fan, can’t wait to ask him if Rodgers put his house up for sale yet!

Lol - will see which team got the better RB in the 2nd rd. Hope Akers
ends up like a sproiles type RB.
