Would not touch Clowney. Even the presence of AD will not help him learn how to contain because it requires give-a-fuck.

If you want a guy to buy low on who might deliver some really good play I think Bud Dupree is the best bet.
Spotrac estimates Dupree with an $18 million value not sure we can buy low on that.

I don’t see Bud Dupree as a ‘buy low’ guy. Not even close.
I don't see teams paying him $18M either but what do I know. Not much when it comes to contract costs and all that. But if PFF is closer to the truth with $10M then he is in play.

They’re both 31 and under contract and Clowney is 27 and a free agent
Miller will likely become attainable/available. See post on previous page.

I just figure everyone in Houston wants out at this point, lol.

I feel like if Clowney was going to resurrect his career it would have happened in Seattle. IMO he's a guy who's competitiveness/love for football never matched his outstanding ability.

Lol c'mon guys

1 year ago: Floyd? No thanks, what has he done?

1.5 years ago: Ramsey isn't a we not me guy, no thanks

2.5 years ago: two thirds for Fowler? Ugh

Clowney would have 20 sack potential next to AD. And while Watt is a monster, he's not AD. I bet ADs work ethic would take Clowney to another level.

Honestly, if Von Miller shakes loose which is iffy at this point... we'd be NUTS to not figure out how to get him.

They might extend him, but he'd be platooning with a young and rising OLB who needs more playing time.

Watt plays DE in a 3-4 and would essentially play the role Brockers plays in this D, so he's not rally an option.

Keeping Floyd would be smart as the run D really took a dip without him in there.

I really think many of these decisions will be made with the 9ers in mind. They swept us with a ton of injuries. If we don't counter what they do well on O and D, then we're looking at more losses to them and I'm certain McVay is aware of this.

Now that intrigues me a little bit more depending on price. All though he's currently under investigation by Colorado police for an unknown reason isn't he? But if he's free (figuratively and literally) I would kick those tires.
DV case reported by his GF. Not much in the news right now.

Actually it was more like:

Floyd? Staley knows him I wonder how he's going to use him but this could be good.
Ramsey? We got the best CB in the league for the playoff push!
Fowler is a lottery ticket never did much in Jax but has a ton of potential. Will be nice to see him in Wades 3-4 instead of miscast in a 4-3

And Clowney going to get 20 sacks? That was 2+ years of production playing with prime JJ Watt so that might be a bit of a stretch especially after his production has plummeted the last couple of years.

Von Miller news from January 15th SI article:

While some have been quick to jump to conclusions in the immediate aftermath of the Parker PD's criminal probe, Me'Gan Denise — Miller's pregnant girlfriend — released a statement via her Instagram account on Friday to say emphatically that any rumor of domestic violence on her boyfriend's part is false.

Obviously, any criminal probe into a player of Miller's caliber and importance to Broncos canon is worrisome but it's important to remember that he has not been charged with anything at this point. The best tack for Broncos Country to take is to allow the Parker PD to do its job and let the investigation play out before jumping to any conclusions.

However, the timing of this criminal probe into Miller is very inopportune. Reports have emerged in the wake of Paton's hiring as GM that the Broncos are likely to approach Miller about a contract restructure. Paton reportedly would like Miller back but not at his current $17.5 million price tag.

Miller will turn 32 years old in March and is coming off a 2020 season lost entirely to an ankle injury that required corrective surgery. Entering the final year of the contract that made him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history back in 2016, the Broncos hold a team option. That means that the Broncos have the prerogative to either exercise, or pick up, Miller's option, or let him go.

If the team didn't pick up Miller's option, he'd be a free agent unrestricted to sign with any outside NFL team. The Broncos might be inclined to negotiate with the former Super Bowl 50 MVP in hopes of him either accepting a pay-cut or working out some sort of contract extension that would lower his 2021 salary-cap hit and give him additional years on the term.

I think the thing with Miller is where his head is at. Meaning, does another Championship out weigh the desire for another huge pay day? It’s hard to tell with him. I live in Colorado. He’s a very low key star player. Some commercials and sponsors but nothing over the top.
Time will tell.

I dunno, either.

I think the bigger issue is will he take the pay cut the Broncos are almost certainly to ask him to take? If not, he'll be an unrestricted FA.

Also, they'll be asking him to platoon with Malik Reed as Bradley Chubb has cemented his claim to the other OLB spot. Is Miller gonna want to platoon with a younger player who's an up and coming and also very good player in Malik Reed?

My friend who's the rabid Bronco fan has no idea what the org will do, either.

I just know that I saw a bit of a workout by Miller at the end of the season and he looks rested and good to go. I wouldn't hold that ankle injury against him AT ALL.

It’s fathomable to even consider this after his career and his current age. The Broncos had Chubb, Miller and Shaw Barrett on their roster just a few years ago. They will likely only gave Chubb left going into 2021. IMO Chubb is solid but Barrett and Miller are better players.

Are you suggesting that nobody reacted the way I suggested above? Just looking through the thread about signing Floyd I can assure you that's not the case.

20 sacks would be a stretch but that's the potential he has next to AD IMO

One or two people reacting that way is not the norm or something that should be attributed to the board in general.

And 20 sacks maybe if he signs a three year deal it’s possible we get that over the length of the deal. Guy capped in his prime at what 8 or 9 opposite JJ Watt.

There were more than one or two people that disliked those moves.

I'll concede that 20 sacks was dramatic - however I do think we'd see his best production yet.

I'd rather spent the money on an Center.
hear hear. That's an imperative, in my mind at least. who know what's on McSnead's minds. But fixing the gaping hole at C sure wasn't, not last year nor the year before.
But ya, Von Miller.... wow. Hard pass on Clowney tho. Tired of paying premiums for players only to see them fall apart (TG, BC).
