I guess you don't like silly movies (Princess Bride and Goonies are fairly silly)

As to Office Space - you have to work in a corporate environment to enjoy that movie

Not really. I like action/adventure, world building etc.

I do work in a corporate environment. I just don't want to think about work outside of work even if satirical. Which is why I can't really watch The Office.

Never seen any of The Godfather movies. Just not a fan of the gangster genre.
Add me to that list - I never watched any of the gangster movies

I loved the first. Haven’t seen the other two. Basically - and it’s what the author of the first two books intended it to be - it’s a serious deconstruction of the mobster life and falling into it: even the Corleones have some really fucked up people on their side (Luca Brasi especially), and while they may have money, flashy cars, etc., they all - without exception - end up dead, and their families end up the same way.

I haven't seen Matrix either. Others off the top of my head...

Office Space

Goonies

Princess Bride (actually i tried watching this one but fell asleep when the rodent showed up)

Titanic

Any Will Ferrell movie. I think he's annoying AF. And unnecessarily loud.

Any Fast and Furious movie

I could go on but I'll save them for others lol

Goonies and The Princess Bride were movies I loved as a kid. Goonies was a riot with a fun plot. The Princess Bride had fun worldbuilding in the book, although it’s not adequately captured in the film (even though the film is a blast to watch, even in my older age).
A lot of people are going to be annoyed with me on these movies

Yeah Fast & Furious (finally watched the first one and didn't care for it) and most of Will Ferrell movies for me too

Most Oscar winning movies after the 70s - the ones I saw were absolute snooze fests (Out of Africa, Birdman, etc)

I also extremely dislike Clint Eastwood directed movies and won't watch them

I hated Million Dollar Baby after the first hour and hated the endings of the other two that I did watch

Babe (I wanted to kill the pig after the first 5 minutes and stopped watching it - yes I am heartless)

Agreed…on most. I loved Gran Torino, despite it earning an R-for-racism-rating. Something about how a crotchety old man haunted by old memories and a teenaged boy lacking direction managed to bond despite their obvious differences.

I still recommend Office Space for people who work in a corporate office

Never saw Gran Torino because I hated the other ones so much

It is a weird movie that is somewhat hard to follow
One of my favorites. I find the whole dream premise to be ridiculous, but when a movie's done right that doesn't really matter.

Honestly - looking at it - Leonardo DiCaprio had a similar type role in Shutter Island (a man haunted by memories of his dead wife), and Shutter Island was amazing in every way. Maybe if Inception was psychological horror…maybe I could get into it. It just fits more like what a horror movie could be like.

I will still watch Goonies and The Princess Bride. Those two movies were a lot of fun.

I hate Clint Eastwood movies as a whole (I’m not a fan of him as an actor for the most part.) Gran Torino is the lone exception. I guess because he played a hell of a role: an older man falling by the wayside in the world (clearly a product of his times, a dead wife, Korean War vet, a horrible family only interested in his wealth) slowly finding a family of his own.

I saw Shutter Island and
I did not guess the ending until very near the ending - I am ashamed

I loved his Dirty Harry movies (I like action movies too) and was okay with his Spaghetti westerns

I guessed that Leo’s character was who he was looking for, but not that his fellow cop was the doctor treating him. Definitely an inspiration for one of my scariest stories (which, ironically, is named Revenant, and no, I did not steal the title from the movie; I wrote it as a Dead Space/Pokemon hybrid story in 2013, and the movie’s title is a complete misnomer because the title character, while fitting a revenant’s motives (revenge at all costs), was not a revenant (a sentient zombie).

I was forced to watch it in history class in my sophomore high school year (I’m one hundred percent sure the history teacher was a raging homophobe and closet racist who injected his views onto every movie we watched. Naturally, I got kicked out of his class and got suspensions from him the most.), and it was fucking awful. Don’t watch it; even the “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” quote isn’t worth the mind-numbing shit you have to deal with in this movie.

All the "new" Star Wars movies (after the OG Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi)
You aren't missing all that much.

The original 3 movies are by FAR the best. Most Star Wars fans agree on that.

Episodes 1-3 are hit and miss, a few good moments and action sequences. But the "magic" of the original 3 just isn't there.

For me episode 9 was so bad I couldn't even finish it.

I'd add Goodfellas and Casino and Irishman to the list of good gangster movies.

I used to be enthralled by those movies, but less so now that I'm older. Egotistic violent assholes? Yeah, I get it, the world's full of 'em.

That's the only part of the movie I have ever watched - and I am being serious

That's because 8 messed up everything and 9 tried to fix it and messed it up even worse

Gone With the Wind.

Personal Gone With the Wind story ...

When I was about 10, Gone With the Wind was re-released in theatres. It had not been on regular television since being made about 30 years earlier, so people being able to see it again after many years was a big deal.

It was a Sunday afternoon, and six women in my family (mother, beloved aunt, two older sisters and two older cousins) really wanted to see it. I was told that it was a Civil War movie, so I was in. Those women lied to me.

Although it's set during the Civil War, it ain't no Civil War movie. It is a long ... Very LONG love stroy. The middle of the film has a climactic scene where the female lead stands on a hill surrounded by her destroyed family plantation, and vows to persevere, with the closing line ... 'As God is my witness, I will never go hungry again'

Music plays, theatre lights go on and I stand-up, pick-up my coat because I can't get out of there fast enough.

Aunt Midge ... a wonderful woman .. says to me ... 'Where you going?'
I respond ... "Movie's over ... Scarlett will never go hungry again ... Let's Go!"
Aunt Midge replies ... 'This is just the intermission'

That was one of the low-points in my formative years.

I will say Scarlett was hot in that movie from the clips I have seen when watching other stuff that show scenes from old movies

At 10 years old - I probably would have just been staring at her the whole time and not even known what the movie was about

I didn't really pay attention to Se7en until the ending - that ending made up for how slow it was
