Don't worry I'll be here

I have aways been here. A man of few words you might say. But now you got me talkin. I have a half brother thats beams to be a cat fancier live in Mich. He invited me up to watch the game. He seems to think the pusscats are going to tear up the RAMS. I think it will be a good game. A good measuring stick for both teams when the final whistle blows.

I assume you guys will do your own gameweek thread and gameday thread but I have a few things to point out, so I'll go ahead and do that here...

·Apparently we will be getting Chris Myers and Tim Ryan according to this http://www.bflo360.com/2012/04/2012-nfl ... edule.html

·Interestingly, Bradford is 0-1 vs the Lions and Stafford is 0-1 vs the Rams

·My dad, who is a lifelong Rams fan and also my football buddy (watch every game with him) is resistant to sports gambling, but when he got a little alcohol in him I managed to get a couple bets out of him: If the Lions win, he has to swallow a tablespoon of Tobasco sauce, and if the Rams win then I have to swallow three. Also we have a $5 bet based on 150% of the line, so in other words it was Lions -9 according to Vegas so we agreed to Lions -13.5... which reminds me, Paul, Mr. Dude, want to have some sort of RuneScape-based wager on this game...? :ww: It can't be GP, that's not allowed, but something can be worked out. If you're game.

·I remember you guys beat us in 2009 with a fake FG... I somehow had a strong sense of dread and knew that it was coming, and it was like it was slow motion when it happened. Now Fisher comes out and basically is guaranteeing he's going to be using some trickery on special teams this year...

No trickery, just 65 yard field goals kicked left footed while running backwards  . We have the best kicker in the game not named Sebastian Janikowski. I think this kid kicker will be money and Fish is going to fake less than 3% of the time. He is using this somewhat new reputation, "king of the fake" as a smoke screen to make you waste your time preparing for something that's not going to happen. I must say, Lions will be tough. This is going to be a long long wait for this game to happen. Sam looking like he is back to form in that last game, Clemens hitting the bricks, the coaches trimming the fat on the roster, it feels like a heavyweight boxing match weigh in right now. DING DING!

Sorry, but your boy won't even be the best kicker on the field this upcoming Sunday. Jason Hanson is still nailing everything. He's been kicking touchbacks this preseason, and also nailed a 50+yarder. Also he holds dozens of NFL records such as most 50+yard FGs career, most points scored with one team (over 2000), etc.

It was tough enough to get these bets out of him. But I did buy some more rum today, so maybe I can get him to agree to that...

I should re-watch some Tosh.0 for some ideas on how to humiliate the loser, lol.

I'm sure X will find one, he seems to be on top of everything remotely related to the Rams. However if you somehow strike out on that, you can stalk detroitlionsforum.com. That's where I hail from, we usually have a stream going. I don't know the details because I got NFL Sunday Ticket and the works, but I always glance at people there getting internet feeds.

You'll need that kicking accuracy because you're not getting inside the Lions' 35.

Continuing the Lions fan's perspective through the 4th preseason game...

Rams looked decent against the 2s, although not a good start on both sides of the ball but then from there it looked like what you need to see out of the 1s going against the 2s on both sides.

I haven't gotten to Davis quite yet (I go through preseason games very slowly). Also I couldn't help but notice Larry Wilson in the ring of honor... at this point I'm half expecting them to come over to Bradford and rip the #8 off his back and tell him it's been retired in Larry Wilson's name... I am sorry to belabor this but jeez, taking down the framed pictures of Rams legends in the facility and then hanging up the 1970s Cardinals division champions banners and lifetime Cardinals in the ring of honor... How would everyone here feel about the team moving back to LA? I am guessing you all are split, half and half in LA and St Louis?

There are some in LA who want them back, some in St Louis who want them to stay, and some that aren't in either city and don't care where they play they will watch them. I live in LA and would love for them to come back to play here, but I don't mind. I'm not going to stop watching regardless of where they are. They could play on the moon for all I care.

As Kevin Demoff stated in an online chat, the pics were never taken down.

Also, the ring of fame thing goes back to the 90s. It's not related to the pic thing.

A lot of us are nomads (residents of neither St.L nor LA) who don't particularly care where the team plays. I'm a nomad myself. For me the Rams hometown is tv.

Funny you say that. I am 20 minutes from San Diego county, and I actually commute there for graduate school, but I feel nothing for the Chargers and I use the exact phrase "They might as well be on the moon."

I might have misspoke. I did not intend to insinuate that the two were related; I merely found it troubling that both were happening. Now that you are saying the pictures were in fact not taken down is confusing to me... I could swear that the previous regime took down old pics and barred guys like Torry and Isaac, and now Fisher&Co are reversing all of that? (Sans the longest yard pic, for Fisher's sake)

Who is gonna be running the ball for the Lions week 1?

Good question. Here's the rundown: (tl;dr at the bottom)

Jahvid Best is in theory the #1a RB on the team, but he's been in concussion limbo for a year and is on the PUP, therefore ineligible for week 1.

Mikel Leshoure is looking like he is the #1b RB he was meant to be last year when we drafted him. He didn't play a down last year because of a torn achilles suffered in camp, and then he injured his hammie this year in camp, but in any case he's suspended for the first 2 games because of marijuana use (I'm sure you've heard of all of the Lions arrests over the offseason...)

That leaves Kevin Smith as the #3, but he injured his ankle in the third preseason game at Oakland. Although it was nothing serious, he was held out of the last preseason game vs Buffalo, but I did see him on the sidelines in street clothes and he looked fine (not hobbled/on crutches). That being said, Schwartz served under Belichick before working under Fisher, and Schwartz has adopted Belichick's way of handling injury news.

The #4 and #5 guys are relatively undefined, but I would have to guess that Keiland Williams is the #4 and Joique Bell is the #5. Keliand Williams was with the team last year and got some work in, while Joique is a numbers casualty from the Saints' loaded backfield that has yet to have an NFL carry (other than the preseason, where he's been very active over the last couple years). But Joique's fumbling issue I think is a turnoff and he barely made the 53-man roster.

Then we have a wildcard guy, Stephan Logan. He has been our return specialist the last two years and was listed as a WR, hence he is #11. However due to his body type, the Lions are trying to convert him into a fake Darren Sproules to replace the Jahvid Best situation, so he is a running back at the moment. He had a few snaps in the preseason at RB but injured his ankle in game two and so displaced Lions fans like me have not seen a lot of him as we cannot attend the practices. He has been used in the past in a very limited fashion in the running game, but mainly as a gimmick, and only once or twice in a whole season. However, all indications are that he will have more work in this role.

tl;dr
Kevin Smith #30 will tough out the ankle injury and take the majority of the snaps, and he will be spelled by Keiland Williams #34, and Stephan Logan #11 will see a few snaps here and there at RB. Joique Bell #35 will likely not be activated. Jahvid Best #44 and Mikel Leshoure #25 will not be eligible to play.

And since the market there IN is at least as lucrative as the Steelers, Packers,Saints (three recent SB winners) markets a true Rams fan would prefer they not go through the minimum two year upheaval a move would cause.

Lol Detroit beat writers are just now finding out that Fisher was in a music video.
