What part of the OL is off as it is today? Where did I off it?

McVay swung the 7th rd rookie OT Arcuri last season. He is listed behind Havenstein. Started 1 gms @ LT & ended up doing a better job @ LT than Noteboom in several of his 6 gms.

McVay utilized Noteboom as a swing OT in 2018 & in the 2021 seasons, In fact, he was at his healthiest when he was in this utilized in this swing OT position.

McVay used Alaric Jackson as his swing OT in 2021 when Noteboom had been relieved of his swing post due to starting. Jackson always a college LT is listed as a RT but also swung inside to RG due to the emergencies

Tremayne Anchrum was a swing OT in his rookie season for Kromer. He was a 4 year OT in college.

Zac Thomas was a swing OT in college too.

Even Coleman Shelton started games in college at both LT & RT you know he is over 6-4 tall.

So please help me understand why a swing OT is a bonified thing to go out & draft.

Then there is Logan Bruss who was a pure OT for four seasons in college, not an OG so add that to the former OT's the Rams have.

My thoughts, if McVay is not filling the airways with an overblown prognosis of on-time recoveries of Noteboom, Jackson, Bruss & Anchrum why is there a need for drafting a swing OT?

My dumb self and my 1 working paramecium brain cells tell me that what McVay needs in this draft are swing INTERIOR OL'ers who can swing/swang & swung like hell between center RG & LG as needed as the starting OL'ers are carted off the field into surgery.
Bonify’d- I’ll keep it real simple.
A” Jackson will be The Rams starting LG.
It looks like Anchrum will compete against Bruss. I’m not a Bruss fan & Anchrum hasn’t shown me much, but Mcvay likes him at RG. I don’t want a 6’2 guy playing Tackle. You might?
Arcuri has really good footwork & balance. He just doesn’t have good technique. I saw him Oldschool it by putting his arms in & elbows out against the SEAHAGs as a OT.That takes away from having Long arms & controlling the Edge Rusher.Don’t know if he was being taught that so there wasn’t a holding call ?

Noteboom was absolute dogshit at LT last season, there's no film that exists from last season to prove the opposite. He got drastically outplayed by Alaric Jackson and free agent off the street in Ty Nsekhe. He also struggled at LG when he had the benefit of playing next to Whitworth...

I, for the life of me, cannot understand the blind support some of you guys have for him when he's done nothing but struggle as a starting LG and be John St. Clair bad as a starting tackle.

I remember a bunch of people calling myself and others "not real rams fans" when ppl called Goff for his play on this board prior to his trade. I'll never understand the player fandom to the point where it's a detriment to the team but hey to each their own.

I guess it could be worse, the board could be filled with a bunch of Bobby Evans or Kolone fans.

I have no issues with Alaric Jackson starting @ LG ......but that certainly places Noteboom in as a starter @ LT.

Noteboom has been a "total failure" when being depended on to be a starter for a season. agree or disagree. If you disagree where's your proof/facts.

What would make you think that after 5 previous seasons the fairy dust will settle on Noteboom's posterior & magically he will remain healthy for the first time for a full season in his carreer after be awarded a starting position?

I have NO understanding with you on this. I would bet that Noteboom will not be ready to practice in TC. I would also bet there is a very good chance Noteboom is PUP'd when the regular season begins.

Planning to start the team's best healthiest best around OT @ an vacant OG post makes no sense to me.

How long before McVay has to make shifts all over the OL due to yhrit past previously injured seasons & this team begins playing musical chairs again like last season?

I thought that OL continuity is a prized goal does McVay not desired this crusial element for this Ram team?

In reference to college OT Anchrum playing OT ...his arms are longer than both OT Havenstein & Jackson. Hardly a real issue for him playing OT if need be.The Rams need Anchrum @ LG anyway to repace Edwards.

AJ Arcuri was a 7th rd rookie OT in 2022 who signed to the MR53 on November 26th of 2022. I would think it's a good idea to give this 7th rd pick some more time before going too negative on him. It does take many seasons to get a colleg trained OT retrained to what he will be required to do in the NFL. He an excellent backup to Havenstein as far as I am concerned Snead did a good job on that pick.

I still have no understanding of why a reserve backup swing OT is so high on your desires. I would really like to have at least one true college-starting OG in this OL for a chance for well over a decade Snead drafts OT to convert & play OG's. Results are mixed on this practice.

My sugeested plan start Jackson @ LT & leave him there!

Dude - I’ve been to a few training
Camps. I’ve watched a lot of The Rams games . Everyone has there own views.
Personally I think I also try to keep on track with what the coaches(Rams organization) thinks. John Sullivan holding still bums me out because of a weak holding call.
I stay consistent & at times my post like Todd(trade)got shut down. Then reopened after he was getting CUT!!
The offensive line Bonify’d . We have been on different sides The Whole time in LITTLE WAYS.

Andrew Whitworth played how much longer than his contract.

Saffold is what? Still playing through how many more contracts.

Noteboom got signed to HOW MUCH $$$.

Everyone can throw tomato’s at the stage, but I believe in VETERAN PLAYERS!!

Chris Collinsworth did a Rams game where Noteboom started & was impressed saying he was playing as good as anyone he had seen that season.

I did mess up badly thinking Noteboom could play center. His rookie year I thought maybe he could have done what Alaric Jackson did last season starting at RB when J. Brown was on PED list.He ( & Demby)had trouble with snap counts. When Saffold left FA,then Noteboom was a bust at LG. I’ll admit that for sure.

Saying Noteboom isn’t a quality starting LT is a reason for some Fans to have concern. I’ve seen enough that if he is healthy he will be SOLID in 2023 at LT.

Yeah OK - sure - I’ll say what Kolone did last season was cool to see for a couple games. He held his own enough for The Rams to win.He was a system guy that survived on hard work. He was never really talented. He was really slow his rookie year. He kept staying around.Once he got hurt he was DONE.
Bobby Evans was LAZY! He never hit the weight like he should have.—Why McvY let STAFFORD get hurt & not take him out last season was HORRIBLE!! I was actually throwing things at the TV.
—Add 1 year $2 million for Rapp. Against Tampa Bay he was playing a TAMPA no 1. — Kendrick is a guy I will continue to bang the table for. If during training camp I see he isn’t playing at a good rate, then I will change my mind. I saw what Mcvay saw coming out of training camp.

From my email:

Season Ticket Members,
The consistent hallmark of our team under Sean McVay and Les Snead has been aggressive moves in pursuit of Super Bowl titles. While this year may feel different given the first two weeks of the offseason, make no mistake, we expect to compete for the NFC West division title this season and make a run towards Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
We always knew that there would be a time when we would have to pull back on our typical approach to help continue our sustained run of success. In the past, when we traded for younger Pro Bowl players who would command new contracts – Sammy Watkins, Marcus Peters, Brandin Cooks, Jalen Ramsey – we had the long-term salary cap flexibility to take on those new contracts. If we wanted to acquire short-term players such as Dante Fowler or Von Miller, we had the extra draft capital to do so to help us make a Super Bowl push, which happened in both cases.
During the trade deadline this past year, it was clear that in a new era where teams were willing to be as aggressive as we were that we had neither the draft capital nor the salary cap space to win trade conversations and be able to take on top players at the salaries they would command.
As a result, we faced a choice this offseason. We could once again restructure contracts to give ourselves one last shot with our core roster but that would mean a total rebuild would be necessary over the next few seasons. Or we could focus on replenishing our draft capital and improving our long-term salary cap situation, clearing the way for us to compete both now and in the future.
Collectively as an organization, we chose the latter path, believing in the talent on our current roster and the skills of our coaching staff to return us to the playoffs. As we sit today, we have 11 draft picks in this year's draft, including three in the top 77. We have nearly all of our picks in 2024 to both build next year and have as capital to make trades at this year's trade deadline. From a salary cap perspective, while we have had to move on from players who helped us lift a Lombardi Trophy at SoFi Stadium, we have taken all of our salary cap pain in 2023 and project to have more than $60 million in space in 2024, the most salary cap space we have had since our move to Los Angeles.
Let me be clear – our goal for 2023 is to win the NFC West and make a deep playoff run. Change doesn't mean that we expect to take a step back. Our Super Bowl LVI starting lineup featured 19 starters (out of 22) that didn't start in Super Bowl LIII just three years prior. Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp and Aaron Donald all enter this offseason as fresh as they have been in a few seasons and hungry to return to their Super Bowl form. We are excited to have young players such as Cam Akers, Cobie Durant, Van Jefferson and Ernest Jones take on more prominent roles. Sean has assembled a new coaching staff with a focus on great teachers, communicators, and different backgrounds to collaborate and figure out the best way to go win the NFC.

We know what a privilege it is to be Los Angeles' team and with that comes great expectations. It is not enough to win just one championship, even when you win that one at home. Our vision and mandate from ownership has always been for sustained success and multiple Lombardi trophies. Under Sean and Les' leadership, we are confident that this plan will allow us to compete and contend not only for this year but for years to come, and we can't wait to see you at SoFi Stadium this fall to start that journey together.
Thank you for your continued support and Go Rams!

TLDR;

The Los Angeles Rams have chosen to focus on replenishing their draft capital and improving their long-term salary cap situation, rather than restructuring contracts to give themselves one last shot with their core roster. They have taken all of their salary cap pain in 2023 and project to have more than $60 million in space in 2024, the most salary cap space they have had since moving to Los Angeles. The team is still aiming to win the NFC West and make a deep playoff run in 2023, with confidence in their coaching staff and the talent on their current roster.
