Rappaport discussed the Ramsey situation an hour ago on NFLN. He did mention this plays out after the draft and a post June 1st trade. He also mentioned the Rams as one of the teams that was interested.

I've said before and I'll say it again. It depends on your definition of JAG. All of our DBs were rated as league average last year. None were below average and most of the playoff teams besides the Eagles had some below average rated DBs.

If JAG means subpar then that's not accurate. It is true though that we have no plus CBs.

It's really going to depend on what the fins are asking for Ramsey. You can bet the rams aren't going to give up as much as the fins spent on Ramsey in the trade because he's two years older and his salary is the highest in the nfl at his position. I think the rams will require that the fins cover it because we simply don't have the cap.

You kind of proved my point with that comment lol because you are clearly lower on our CBs than the coaching staff is.

I won't use the term JAG, I'll say average starter - we have three at CB with Spoon, Williams and Durant. Williams has played at a higher level than that and had the hammy last year which set him back. Entirely possible he plays above average next year. Durant is still an ascending player and could break out. Spoon stabilized our backend when he was inserted last year.

Then we have Kendrick and Forbes as young guys who have played, but are below average players right now, and then the UDFAs that made the team last year - but all those guys have game experience which gives them a HUGE leg up over any rookie outside the first few rounds.

Every year we all fall in love with rookies - the truth is, most of the guys drafted won't even become average starters. I said all along that I would have taken one in the first round for the outside chance (and it IS an outside chance, even in round one) it's an upgrade if the right player was there.

As I told Dz, I just want at least 1 plus CB or at least draft one that has that potential. Unfortunately that's not where we're at right now so here's to hoping that the current CBs improve so much that it takes our defense up a level or 2.

One knock is he has trouble getting off blocks which worries me a little as he was pegged as a weak side LB in a 4-3. Still, it’s hard to believe he lasted to when we picked so this looks like a steal

Exactly! Once he gets his hands on the ball carrier, forward momentum is stopped cold, no getting dragged along for another 3 or 4 yards, and he’s quick and decisive.
Very encouraging!
Hope it all translates to the next level.
 
7. CHRIS PAUL, Mississippi (6-1, 225, 4.69, 3-4): Made 88 tackles for the nation’s No. 1 run defense. Nicknamed “Pooh.” Said one scout: “Looks more like a safety than a linebacker. Plays with outstanding physicality and violence. Don’t tell him he’s undersized. He can run and cover tight ends. Tackles well. Not a good blitzer. Can get banged around in the middle. Take-on strength is an issue. Fourth round. Will backer.” Started 11 of 28 games at Arkansas from 2021-’23 before starting 11 at Ole Miss last season. Finished with 225 tackles (27 for loss), 9 ½ sacks and four turnover plays. “Looked the part,” a second scout said. “He’s in line with Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight. He’s probably in that middle-round area.” Shortest arms (29 7/8) of the top 20 at the position. Three-star recruit from Cordele, Ga.
