The LT reserve outside the 5 starters IS a concern you are right on that.

I feel real comfortable that if AW were to begin to show a serious downward trending in his performance that Kromer would move his starting LG a few feet to his left & then replace Noteboom with Edwards{11 starts} or Evans{7 starts} or even later Brian Allen{9 starts}. Not a bad position to be in @ LG dob't you think?

You should not have any worries with Noteboom starting @ LT. I would not be surprise to see 3 OC's (Shelton/ Cabral/ Kolone} cut either none have done anything thus far in the NFL not sure if any have a future.

I should let you know that IF it were my decision in planning for the 2021 draft....selecting an LT & a OC will be a top priority even with Snead's poor past resume. Problem with Noteboom in 2021 will be in his last season under contract with the Rams. Rams need to be in a position to find a new starting LT if Noteboom departs for a really nice big contract elsewhere.

I wasn't thinking about Noteboom's contract. So his contract runs out next year, and they have no idea if he can play OLT at a high level. Or maybe they've seen enough of him in practice and don't think he can do it, or Evans is just that much better at it than Noteboom.

It seems unlikely that the plan is to move Noteboom to OLT at this point. He's been training as a guard for two years, then he's expected to move to OLT in the last year of his contract?

I think they are getting what they can out of him and are prepared to let him walk. He's the reason that they felt Saffold could leave. So it's been a two and a half to three year plan to turn Noteboom into a guard. It seems like they aren't seeing him as Whitworth's heir.

Maybe Brewer and Evans changed the plan with Noteboom. My biggest hope is that they can draft a center and a guard that can run block better than this crew. Running behind Havenstein all year is going to get too predictable. Kiss the idea of short yardage gains out the window. On the inside they mainly have three pass blockers, and they aren't especially good at that either. I was hopeful after McVay's debut that we had a coach that prioritizes great Oline play. For the first time since the GSOT days, the line was fantastic upon McVay's arrival. What a bummer to be here talking about it as the teams Achilles heel again.

I do not place a lot on the fact that Joseph Noteboom has been designated starter @ LG 2019/2020 as you. Andrew Whitworth began his long career starting @ LG before being moved outside his 4th season. AW's career then took off! I would think that AW has made McVay/ Kromer aware of this fact many times since that LG plays a major part in AW's on field success each game day. Thus I believe that AW's has big input as to which OL'er is paired with him on each snap. I will maintain that JN will be the starting LT IF AW were to be injured for a long period of time.

Rams have a large size amount of signed OL'ers in reserve who has shown they can effectively preform game day @ LG. Would that not play a big element in this JN discussion? David Edwards & Austin Corbett have many NFL starts @ LG. In addition other OL reserves like Brian Allen, Cohl Cabral, Jeremiah Kolone & Coleman Shelton have worked the left side & interior OL post in TC & pre seasons & in college. Then there's rookie Tremayne Anchrum who has been getting a lot of time on the left side mainly @ LG.

My position is IF JN had not fully recovered from the injury that either Edwards or Corbett was the planned to be the starting LG not JN. Noteboom's full health was a big surprise & a bonus too much for Kromer to pass up & who quickly seized the moment.

Based on the large amount of current Ram LG talent available on the roster & a serious lack of LT talent available makes JN the logical LT in waiting.

Yeah I think this configuration is going to struggle and Kromer's ego is gonna take another hit. Then he will adjust.

But he may vindicate himself too which is the best possibility. The line was better than expected in 2017 so he may be right.

Either way nothing has changed in the line holding our hopes of a playoff team. So hope he is correct but prepared for a bit of a shit show early on.

All depends on that the definition of the word "serviceable" means.

Starting LT
A starting left tackle that is above-average and works well in a team.
And of course that has a lot to do with how mobile your quarterback is and your play calling.

I'm pretty sure we have every one of those on the roster.
Can you currently ID the Reserve active game day Swing OT & Developmental Practice Squad Reserve LT?

As of this moment this is the Rams OL unit:

LT-Whitworth/ Evans
LG-Noteboom/ Shelton
OC-Blythe/ Allen
RG-Corbett/ Anchrum
RT-Havenstein/ Edwards

Evans now 3rd string Bony?
My Bad I had Edwards in where Evans was to be. No, I have Bobby Evans as Kromers #6 OL'er followed by Edwards @ #7.

Reason I have Evans over Edwards @ this time due to the fact that Bobby does have some LT genes in him to be Kromers game day swing #6th OL'er something that Edwards does not have. I see Edwards as being a better LG, a good future RT & RG @ this point.

Looks like its coming down to Coleman Shelton & Brian Allen as to will be the #8 Ram Ol'er. I have not heard one positive comment on either of them from this TC. I do expect the Rams to ponder hard & long on Tremayne Anchrum who I think has more upside than either Allen or Coleman.

That looks about right but I think before the season's over Edwards will be at left guard and not Noteboom.

I'm not getting the Noteboom thing.
There's no way his knee is 100% ready for a full season and I really wouldn't even bother trying to develop him into a guard.

And I'm not sure why they flopped Corbett to RG.
I would have left Edwards there with Corbett at left guard.

But I trust Kromer's opinion on these moves.
He's done a lot more studying of them in person and on tape than I have. ;)
